Opis:: The article is an attempt at a chronological presentation of the most important old and complete translations of the Bible by the time and including the Protestant Reformation in both compared languages. As for the Dutch language, eight Biblical translations have been analysed with Protestant translations prevailing (5). On the other hand, Polish is represented by five old translations of the Scriptures with a slight advantage of Protestant translations (3) over Catholic ones (2). Translations of the Bible largely affected the language and the style of the Scriptures. It is worth emphasizing that they were most influenced by the Protestant Staatenbijbel (1637) in the then Netherlands and by the Jakub Wujek Bible (1599) in Poland.

Opis:: O polskich tłumaczeniach „Die Aschanti” Rainera Marii Rilkego Artykuł obejmuje analizę obrazów lirycznych w wierszu „Die Aschanti” Rainera Marii Rilkego i trzech polskich przekładach. Po opisie kontekstu powstania utworu autor artykułu podzielił wiersz na sceny, a wybrane fragmenty jego trzech tłumaczeń przetłumaczył z powrotem na niemiecki z naciskiem na oddanie obrazów lirycznych tekstów. Ten zabieg pomógł unaocznić różnice w obrazowości i sensie oryginału i jego tłumaczeń. Ponadto można zaobserwować różnice w warstwie dźwiękowej i stylu tekstów. Na końcu autor porównuje uczucia, które te teksty konotują.
The article contains an analysis of lyrical images in the poem “Die Aschanti” by Rainer Maria Rilke and in three Polish translations. After the context of creation had been described, the poem was divided into scenes and some parts of translations were translated back to German with emphasis on reconstructing the lyrical images in translations. This allows to demonstrate some differences in the images and meaning of the poem and his translations. Apart from that some differences concerning sound effects and style are pointed out. In the end, the author compares emotions connoted by the texts.

Opis:: Herta Müller, born in Rumania as a member of the German minority, began to create her collages after having immigrated to West Germany. Being heterogeneous combinations of words and pictorial ele-ments cut out from print media, the collages can be considered as an attempt to forge a link between west German culture and life in Rumania under the dictatorship of Ceauşescu. An important role in the articulation of autobiographical experience plays a specific rhythm, which is characterized by intermo-dality and criss-crossed words and pictorial elements. Rhythm not only renders experience – as to speak subcutaneously – apt to be communicated, deliberate ruptures of rhythm indicate the traumatizing ef-fects of past experiences and anxiety. The article analyses to what extent the polish translators Leszek Szaruga and Andrzej Kopacki take into account the structural complexity and intermediality of the collages.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to present the results of an analysis of the terminology of the Polish Criminal Code and its equivalents taken from three translations of the code into German. Scientific corpus includes Polish Criminal Code and the following three translations: DE-IURE-PL (2019), C.H. Beck (2012) and Max-Planck-Institut (1998). The method used is comparative legal analysis. The results of the analysis may find application in academic teaching and be used in the development of courses in legal translation.

Opis:: The present paper deals with the phenomenon of politically and culturally motivated ideologization that occurred in east and west German translations of Polish literature during the post-war period until 1990. It could be proven on various examples the enormous influence exerted by the political and ideological environment on both translators and the process of translation. Taking into account external intertextual relationships the author shows the way politically and ideologically marked German translations differing from Polish originals are reflected in the internal structure of the target language texts and affect their social functionality.

Opis:: This article discusses the strategies that may be used during the process of translation of a literary work. It will be shown that the translators’ choices are context driven. The starting point for an analysis are four theoretical approaches to translation strategies (Markovina 1993, Koller 2004, Gercken 1999 and Hejwowski 2006). The analysis of the translator’s choices will be carried out at the example of Andrzej Stasiuk’s novel “Jak zostałem pisarzem. Próba autobiografii intelektualnej” translated into German by Olaf Kühl.
