    Opis:
    The works of Charles Bonnet illustrate the contribution of imagination to research in natural history in the second half of the 18th century. In his Palingénésie philosophique (1769), Bonnet uses images and metaphors rooted in the philosophical and literary imagery of the Enlightenment to describe the evolution of life. This juxtaposition of scientific and literary discourses did not prevent Bonnet from being regarded as a forefather of modern biology by historians of science.

    Opis:
    Strategy of retardation in the narrative perspective Retardation is represented as one of the ways of deploying the plot of artistic text through the introduction of additional descriptions, characters, references to historical events and other important clarifiers. Such additional elements break the linearity of the narrative, estranging the climax moment and realizing the effect of emotional stress, waiting for an outcome. Retardation is considered as a phenomenon primarily compositional, since additional information may relate to a subjective, a predicate, application or circumstance that violates the extremely clear structure of the French sentence. Retardation is amplified, among other things, by such stylistic figures as a repORBIS etition and anaphora. Furthermore, additional information in the text is highlighted by punctuation marks: commas, dashes, parentheses, which correspond to a narrative with inserted episodes.

    Inspired by H. G. Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau, M. Renard in his Le Docteur Lerne, sous-dieu (1908) portrays a mad scientist experimenting on living organisms, creating hybrids of humans, animals and plants. Renard extends the anachronistic theory of the Chain of Being to include machines, which he sees as the future of humanity, securing the place of his Lerne in the vanguard of transumanist literature. This paper aims to examine the novel’s intertextual references to both fictional and actual history of science.
    Inspirowana Wyspą doktora Moreau H. G. Wellsa powieść Le Docteur Lerne, sous-dieu (1908) Maurice’a Renarda portretuje szalonego naukowca, który eksperymentuje na organizmach, tworząc ludzko-zwierzęco-roślinne chimery. Anachroniczna teoria łańcucha bytów zostaje poszerzona o maszyny, przedstawione jako przyszłość ewolucji ludzkości, co plasuje Lerne’a w awangardzie utworów transhumanistycznych. Artykuł ma na celu analizę powieściowych nawiązań do czysto fantastycznej i realnej historii nauki.

    Le présent article a pour vocation de montrer l’incidence sur la traduction d’un double conditionnement discursif des textes qui subissent une normalisation générique tout en étant sous l’influence de leur voisinages discursifs, c’est-à-dire des chaînes supra-génériques des relations fonctionnelles dont ils font partie. Ces chaînes assurent la cohérence systémique des genres desservant un domaine de communication donné et fonctionnent grâce au phénomène de la “valence discursive”. Étant donné que les deux facteurs mentionnés déterminent dans une large mesure le sens des textes, leur rôle ne saurait être ignoré dans la traduction qui consiste non seulement à reconstruire la couche verbale du texte de départ, mais aussi à le recontextualiser fonctionnellement dans le polysystème discursif de la culture réceptrice.
    The purpose of this article is to present the role of dual discursive context of texts, which, on the one hand, are subject to normalization at the genre level and on the other hand, are highly influenced by their direct discursive environment, namely a supra-genre chain of functional relations binding genres involving a given type of discourse into a coherent cause and effect network. As both these factors largely determine meaning of a text, their role cannot be ignored in translation, which involves not only restoring verbal layer of the source message, but also its functional recontextualization in the discursive polysystem of the target culture.

    Ontologic structures in a socio-political editorial – a socio-cognitive approachThe aim of the present study is to analyze the conceptualization of ontological structures in a special type of journalistic writing represented by a socio-political editorial. According to the socio-cognitive approach (Goffman, Langacker), the author discusses the problem of discursive mechanisms related to the persuasive function of language and classification. Therefore, in basis of the gathered linguistic corpus, which constitutes of forty French editorials, treating about university and public service pension reforms, culled from the web pages of different journals and magazines (2007–2008), the author intends to describe the distribution of two semantic roles such as agent and patient (by means of the synthetic scheme presented in this paper) in the context of the persuasiveness of media communication. The way of constructing the semantic roles of participants both influences and modifies the readers’ opinions and their perception of the world.
