    Task Based Learning / Teaching focuses on the action dimension of language use, i.e., various tasks performed every day that require cooperation with others and the mobilization of language. Language proves to be the most important instrument of action, even if the objective of this action is not necessarily linguistic. The pedagogical tasks used for language teaching for professional purposes illustrate the link between language and socio-professional action: the learning of the formal language system counts as much as the content of the domain of work. On these theoretical assumptions, the aim of this paper is to examine the degree of integration of linguistic and professional knowledge and skills into tasks designed for the teaching of business French. We will analyse the examples of pedagogical tasks in order to demonstrate to what extent they allow us to teach interdisciplinary content and foreign language

    Language disciplines, including Terminology and Specialized Translation, have made great strides after the second half of the twentieth century. This development, related to technological growth and international communication that occurred during this period, has resulted in a considerable increase of concepts. Thus, experts have become more and more aware of the importance of naming these new concepts. Specialized translators were among the first language professionals to recognize the need of mastering the terminology of specialized fields in order to perform their duties well (Antia et coll., 2005). In this work, we study the very close relationship between Terminology and Specialized Translation. We also study the theoretical and practical knowledge of Terminology that a specialized translator should have.

    This study investigates the differences between novice and expert translators. Six expert translators and six translation students were asked to translate a text into Arabic and explain their translation process. The results show a difference in the translation quality, expertise of translation and the way novices and experts think and solve the translation problems. Numerous factors such as memory, emotions, decision making, problem solving, etc. co-determine successful experts. A translator expert is not just someone who has translation skills, it’s also someone who understands how his knowledge is organized; he behaves automatically and fluidly without conscious control.

    Komunikacja w warunkach formalnych jest typem specyficznego dyskursu instytucjonalnego, którego jedną z ważniejszych cech jest asymetryczny podział ról i miejsc interakcyjnych. Obserwacje mikrosekwencji komunikacyjnych w klasie języka obcego (JO) pokazują jednak, że interlokutorzy zajmujący hierarchicznie niższą pozycję (uczący się) podejmują próby zakwestionowania owego porządku poprzez wyjście poza strukturę IRE (initiation – reaction – evaluation). Na wybranych przykładach z zebranego in vivo w kilku polskich szkołach średnich korpusu lekcji JO (język francuski jako język obcy) pokazujemy owe zachowania komunikacyjne, które określamy tutaj mianem dyskursywnych transgresji, i analizujemy je pod kątem ich potencjalnego wpływu na proces akwizycji języka obcego.
    Communication under formal conditions is a type of a peculiar institutional discourse; one of its most important features is an asymmetric division of roles and interactive places. However, observations of communication micro-sequences in a foreign language group show that interlocutors having a hierarchically lower position (learners) make attempts to question the order by going out of the IRE structure (initiation – reaction – evaluation). On examples selected from a corpus of foreign language classes collected in several Polish schools (French as a foreign language) communication behaviors are shown that are defined here as discursive transgressions, and we analyze them with respect to their possible effect on the process of a foreign language acquisition.

    The paper describes the specific effects of language anxiety on foreign language learning. It concerns anxieties related to the four macro-skills (language-skill-specific anxieties), such as listening anxiety, speaking anxiety, writing anxiety, and reading anxiety. In addition, the impact of language anxiety on grammar study is presented. Research has shown that anxious language students suffer significantly during oral activities and that anxiety has a negative impact on students’ attitudes towards language study.
    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie pojęcia lęku językowego, opisanie jego wpływu na proces przyswajania głównych kompetencji językowych, a mianowicie: słuchania, pisania, czytania i mówienia. Dodatkowo przedstawiony został wpływ lęku językowego na naukę gramatyki. Badania wykazały, że studenci języków obcych, którzy odczuwają wysoki poziom lęku, najbardziej cierpią podczas ustnych ćwiczeń językowych. Co więcej, lęk językowy wpływa u nich na negatywną postawę wobec nauki języka.

    The article proposes to study the impact of Delerm’s micro-stories in the FL classroom from a cultural perspective. These literary materials create opportunities for spontaneous dialogue and sharing that enrich the individual and common cultural reservoir and lexical repertoire of the learners. This study shows that micro-stories are significantly easier to introduce into the academic curriculum than whole books, without too much effort on the part of the teacher and the learner, but with a very satisfactory result for both sides. A focused definition of the term culture is presented at the beginning to set the framework for the study. This is followed by Delerm’s literalism, i.e., we tried to hone the learners’ skills in reading and understanding a simple text so they would be able to (re)use the acquired information in academic, professional, or personal life. Then, the exploitation of micro-stories in the FL classroom is presented with multiple explanations and, finally, our concluding remarks close this contribution.

    Digital skills are an important part of the skills required in the 21st century, enabling users to better utilise information and communication technologies (ICT) in different spheres of life. This article examines the integration of these skills into foreign language teaching. The first part of the article studies the notion of digital skills through initiatives undertaken at the European and the national level as well as the current role of digital technology in the language classroom. The second part of the article focuses on the possible integration of digital skills with the development of productive language skills through active methods (collaborative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning). The preliminary examination shows that the use of these teaching strategies could possibly ensure the parallel development of language and digital skill.

    The paper is a reflection on the development of academic literacy skills in French and Polish while writing a diploma paper in glottodidactics by Polish third year ethnolinguistics students. The first part of the paper focuses on a diploma paper in glottodidactics as an important component of philological education at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Next, the author analyses the concept of epistemological consciousness and its impact on the development of student autonomy during the acquisition of glottodidactic discourse and glottodidactic knowledge as a specialist knowledge which they gain. The author’s conception, referring to writing research papers in line with the principles of glottodidactics as a research field, is based on the assumption that students should become aware of the epistemological specifics of glottodidactics and include them both in the form and the content of their diploma papers. Finally, the author discusses various stages in the development of students’ epistemological consciousness and looks into the processesthe supervisor needs to engage in for effective research supervision

    Opis:
    Understanding of literary texts and cultural knowledge acquisition are not the only objectives of French or Francophone literature courses that are part of the university program for future FFL teachers. Reading excerpts of literary texts allows students to develop their key skills, especially their cultural awareness and expression, but also their ability to communicate in a foreign language which is the fundamental goal of language teaching. This study presents an example of pedagogical mediation during which various skill sets (global, professional, key, etc.) are being developed through a number of selected literary texts. Pedagogical mediation is understood as a thoughtful process during which students develop the self-awareness in the role of foreign-language and foreign-culture mediator by acquiring the skills necessary for their personal and professional growth, using the full potential of literary texts. At the same time, by deepening the receptive language skills, reading of texts develops also the productive language skills, i.e. speaking and writing, and to the awareness of students’ didactic thinking. Students’ lesson plans show the level at which they are at the moment on their professional skills development path.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to present the theoretical foundations underlying our didactic work, part of the European project DECLAME’FLE, and its objectives. The proposed reflection concerns the possibility of developing reading practices in FL among readers who are learners of French as a foreign language. The chosen approach exploits the concept of so-called literary reading, oriented towards a theoretical-aesthetic analysis of the text. In the school context, this analysis and interpretation is usually done in dialogue with other readers. However, in the case of personal reading, the reader-learner chooses their texts freely and is not supervised in the activity. We argue that media resources can be an effectively used by learners in their reading and in the analytical and reflective tasks that follow. Based on observation categories from discourse analysis and with reference to research on literary reading, we propose exercises for (future) teachers of French as a foreign language. Their aim is to model the reading of journalist and popular critical discourse in order to draw information from it about the book, the author and the presence of the book in the public space, observe the discourse strategies used and integrate them, in order to be able to talk about reading experiences and make presentations of appreciation of texts.

    Actuellement, les entreprises qui veulent s’affirmer sur le marché mondialisé ont besoin des technologies de l’information et de la communication car elles sont un facteur de croissance et de compétitivité. Mais, il ne suffit pas d’informatiser la fabrication ou les services pour créer une économie forte et compétitive: il faut aussi des travailleurs très qualifiés pour utiliser les nouveaux systèmes. C’est pourquoi, les pays de l’Union européenne (UE) s’attendent à une augmentation de la demande de travailleurs hautement qualifiés, notamment dans le domaine des technologies de l’information et de la communication, au cours des années à venir. Les Etats membres de l’UE devront utiliser leurs politiques pour limiter la fuite des cerveaux vers d’autres pays, pour stimuler l’émigration circulaire et pour attirer les cerveaux. Donc, ce problème a plusieurs aspects. D’un côté, les Etats membres devront favoriser la création des nouvelles entreprises pour freiner la fuite des cerveaux. De l’autre côté, la politique migratoire sélectionnée peut faciliter l’entrée de migrants qualifiés. Dans ce contexte, les politiques qui encouragent les étudiants en mobilité internationale à rester sur le territoire à l’issue de leurs études, sont aussi importantes. Dans cette contribution, on analysera la situation dans la République slovaque de point de vue de la politique migratoire nationale axée sur la capacité d’attirer des travailleurs hautement qualifiés
