The aim of the text is to discuss the possibilities of developing professional self-awareness at the stage of initial education of foreign language teachers. The first part of the article presents theoretical considerations on teachers’ professional self-consciousness, distinguishing three areas of it: professional competence as goals to be achieved, self-evaluation and self-regulation, and teachers’ cognitive, emotional and communicative functioning in professional situations. The second part of the text contains an analysis of selected practical tools that serve to develop teachers’ professional self-awareness, such as The European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages, and the European Profiling Grid, tools inspired by E. Berne’s concept of Transactional Analysis, and the author’s reflection grids. The conclusions of the analysis indicate the possibility of the coherent use of available tools and creation of additional tools within the context of education, so that the process of developing teachers’ self-awareness is multifaceted and leads to a sense of professionalism.

Opis:
The article proposes to study the concept of autonomous learning and, more specifically, self-directed learning. The author bases his analysis on the ethnographic research concerning the functioning of the Language Resource Center (LRC), parts of the University of Lille in France. This multimedia space created for different languages learners offers them many opportunities to develop their language skills: computer laboratories, workrooms, many support documents available on site (CD-ROMs, DVDs, original and live TV channels, dictionaries, magazines, journals, reference works). Others, classified according to levels, objectives and skills, can be found on a digital platform and remain available online at any time through a search engine. The LRC gives also the possibilities to meet the language tutors (face-to-face or at a distance) and to participate in different activities offered by them. These various modalities of learning a foreign language are targeted at supporting autonomy, independent learning adapted to the needs, interests and the pace of each learner. The interviews conducted with tutors working in the center allow us to notice numerous positive aspects of LRC activities, but also to detect a few problems resulting largely from the lack of a coherent strategy of action within language studies.

As an interdisciplinary science, SLA studies are receptive to ideas formulated in other disciplines. Although the relevance of psychology for SLA is often underestimated, its influence has recently grown with the advent of neurosciences and the increased interest in learner variables. One f concept from psychology that is potentially interesting is theories of the self, some of which have recently been adapted into research on foreign language learner motivation. In this article, we examine two particular psychological concepts (possible selves and self-discrepancy) as sources of an influential L2 motivation model – Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System – which is very little debated in French SLA literature. We outline the main points of the three theories, analyse them and try to assess the adaptation process. As in any case of transfer between disciplines, the source theories are altered, but the result has proven a meaningful and enriching addition to studies of L2 motivation.

France has been witnessing a proliferation of autobiographical literatures, also known as personal or intimate literatures, in recent decades. These stories take different forms and tell the life or life periods of an individual. These are life stories that claim a subjective ‘I’. In Iran, self-writing has begun, in recent years, to interest modern writers and critics who try, in more or less disguised forms, to tell in writing the story of their lives in a context where literature is always in direct connection with politics. In this context, the purpose of this article is to question the first self-writings that appeared in Iran. In what context has this self-literature emerged? How is the first self-writing of Iranian writers expressed? What is its real place? The first part of this article will be devoted to the context of the emergence of autobiography, and the relationship between modern society and self-writing from the eighteenth century in France, which will serve as a model to explain, in a second time, the framework of appearance of autobiography in Iran. The second part will analyze textual elements, the narration of A stone on a tomb, the first autobiography in Iran.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to reconstruct the self-image by Rutka Laskier, a Jew who died at the age of fourteen in the gas chamber of Auschwitz. It was explicated in the diary she wrote during four months in 1943. This short period of time was enough for her to feel the necessity for finding answers to vital questions due to her impending death. The girl’s lucidity of her tragic situation cracks her identity in statu nascendi and, consequently, disrupts the unity of her textual image. The methodology stays within the framework of the linguistics of enunciation, applied to literary texts. The exploration of the image of Rutka in her writing is done through the traces of subjectivity realised by deictic, affective, evaluative and modal qualifiers.

Nowadays self-translation remains a frequent practice in the literary field in Canada. A close reading of the self-translations done by Canadian writers such as Nancy Houston, Marco Micone or Patrice Desbiens allows to discover each author’s own vision of self-translation as a creative process. The aim of the paper is to determine, through a comparative analysis of excerpts from the two language versions of the play La Maculée/sTain (2012) and the latest bilingual novel La voix de mon père / My Father’s Voice (2015) by Fransaskois playwright Madeleine Blais-Dahlem, to what extent her self-translating practice guides the reading of the text. Examiningthe back and forth between the two versions of the same work will allow to delve deeper into the subject of the identity and privileged status of the translator (Tanqueiro 2009: 109, Saint 2018: 120), but also into the role and skills of the receiver of Madeleine Blais-Dahlem’s bilingual writings.

How are the two literatures – the classic, the heritage, the scholarly versus the children’s literature, the overly easy editorial productions – much less opposed in reality than one might think? How can a real complementarity exist between literatures which will perhaps never be patrimonial but which can become school and the “great” literature? We will show how the reading of mythographic works seeks to design a teaching which makes the encounter with the book a triple opportunity for enrichment: to be moved, to escape, to learn. In life narratives, authors unveil their lives, and autobiography also inspires authors from Muslim Arab societies. In contemporary societies, some authors have talked about their “ego” without fully revealing all their secrets. Things are more complex in a Maghrebian context in which disclosing and recounting one’s life (childhood, adolescence or even adult life) becomes a vital act. Our reasoning in this paper consists in showing that, to Malika Mokeddem, despite the criticisms and taboos, writing and being emancipated are no impediments; on the contrary, these taboos or proscriptions have motivated and served her life choices. Algerian authors often write about themselves by referring to their childhood, education and readings. Often the history of their country is at the center of their autobiographical novels. In this article, we focus on Malika Mokeddem’s childhood and adolescence, two very important periods for her, and proceed to analyze the different processes used by the novelist who in her autobiographical works seeks to “recover” her identity.

Conrad Detrez is undoubtedly one of Belgium’s most important writers of the 70s of the 20th century. After having translated Brazilian revolutionary authors, he resumed the review of his provincial past, named «hallucinating autobiography». His first autofictional novel Ludo (1974) bring to life his first Belgian years in his native land where the inundation invades everything, the incessant rain causes floods and the river enters the houses. With excellent wit, Detrez’s scalpel-pen dissects characters and situations through which such topics as friendship, everyday marginal life and panic of people during the Second World War. Through selffiction, Detrez´s novel present the author and narrator’s obsessions.
Conrad Detrez est sans aucun doute l’un des écrivains les plus importants de Belgique des années 70 du XXème siècle. Après avoir traduit quelques auteurs révolutionnaires brésiliens, cet écrivain cosmopolite a repris la revue de son passé provincial, nommé « autobiographie hallucinante ». Son premier roman autofictionnel intitulé Ludo (1974) fait vivre ses premières années belges dans son pays natal où l’inondation envahit tout, la pluie incessante provoque des crues et la rivière pénètre dans les maisons. Doté d’un excellent esprit, Detrez décrit des personnages et des situations à travers lesquels sont abordés des sujets comme l’amitié, la vie quotidienne marginale ainsi que la panique des gens pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À travers de l’autofiction, le roman detrezien présente les obsessions aussi bien de l’auteur que du narrateur.

This introduction presents the LSMLL volume that follows (volume entitled “Self-Narratives and Society”), and discusses five propositions: I. Self-narratives may be analyzed as rediscoveries of what the self is not, i.e. society in particular; II. Beyond questionable distinctions between autobiography, autofiction and testimonies, selfnarratives may be defined interculturally (with help from the Englishspeaking world) as (predominantly reflexive) forms of life narratives and examples of life-writing; III. Autobiography and autofiction can’t file for divorce; IV. We should joyfully call for the end of [La] *Francophonie, substitute what could be abbreviated as LEF (littérature d’expression française) to the unfortunate expression littérature *francophone, and/or play on semantic neutrality and signal the *Francophone imposture with a (typographical) countersign: *francophone, *Francophonie; V. The “culturality” inherent to self-narratives opens itself up to the question of minorities.

Le souci de l’autre, chez Montaigne, est constant, les figures de l’altérité sont d’une extraordinaire richesse. Et pourtant, Montaigne est surtout connu pour être l’écrivain de soi. Mais le « soy » de Montaigne, comme le Journal de voyage et les Essais, est en fait traversé par l’altérité. Cet article vise alors à montrer comment Montaigne, en particulier dans les Essais, va écrire puis penser l’autre à partir de soi.
Concern for the other is constant with Montaigne, the figures of otherness are extraordinarily rich. And yet, Montaigne is known above all as the writer of the self. But the “soy” of Montaigne, like the Journal de voyage and the Essais, is in fact saturated by otherness. This article aims therefore to show how Montaigne, in particular in the Essais, will write and imagine the other from the self.
