    The starting point for this study of the marriage according to Guazzo is the notion of conversation in its original meaning, as living together. The treaty of Guazzo (1574) develops the concept of « civil conversazione » in which men exchange their opinions, but especially support each other and show mutual respect and amiability, which avoids conflicts. The study shows the analogies between such ideal of communication and Guazzo’s vision of the marriage – both envisaged in the humanistic and Christian perspectives: as foundations of society and means of mutual edification. Guazzo’s discourse concerning conversation of the spouses oscillates between the necessity of accomodation to the spouse (related to concealment) and sincerity. Given the complexity of codes that characterize other types of communication, « marital conversazione » is presented as the closest to the ideal of transparency.

    Opis:
    The studies of Jacques Delille’s work put an emphasis on the relations between a group of poetic texts (L’homme des champs, L’Imagination, Les Trois Règnes de la nature) and their scientific intertexts. The aim of this paper is to study the scientific connotations of lesser known poems, stressing the problem of the physiological and anatomical reflections on the human voice and the speech. Is there a relation between Delille’s observations on the voice (La Pitié, p. 40, 151-152 ; La Conversation, p. 141-142, 146-147) and the terminology used by physicians or philosophers of his time? What is the impact of Rousseau’s Essai sur l’origine des langues on Delille? Is it inspiring to use the medical distinction between the physiology and the pathology to understand Delilles’s conception of the human voice?

    Opis:
    W swojej historii myśl ekonomiczna od Arystotelesa do Friedmana zmierzała naturalnie w kierunku tak polityki, jak i etyki. Artykuł stanowi refleksję na temat różnych sposobów rozumienia relacji między ekonomią, etyką i polityką. Opowiada się za specyficznym jej rozumieniem: trzeba szukać najpierw tego, co jest etyczne (reguły sprawiedliwego postępowania). Wdrażanie tych reguł wpływa bezpośrednio na podział i ograniczenie władz (polityka) i umożliwia szybki rozwój ekonomiczny. Artykuł stawia tezę, że takie rozumienie – które opiera się na pewnej koncepcji natury ludzkiej – rozwijało się przez wieki i dominowało w czasach scholastyki. Potem musiało współzawodniczyć z innymi sposobami rozumienia ekonomii, polityki, etyki oraz natury ludzkiej, takimi jak pozytywizm, marksizm czy behawioryzm.
    During its history from Aristotle to Friedman, economic thought has turned itself naturally towards politics as well as towards ethics. This paper reflects on the various ways to understand the articulation between economics, ethics and politics. It argues in favor of a specific understanding: one should look first for what is ethical (rules of just conduct). The implementation of those rules have direct implications for the division and limitation of powers (politics) and once in place allows for rapid economic development. The paper claims that this understanding—which relies on a certain conception of the nature of human beings—has developed throughout the centuries and was dominant at the time of the scholastics. Since then it had to compete with other understanding of economics, politics, ethics and human nature such as found in positivism, marxism or behaviorism.

    During the 17th century, the establishment of neo-Aristotelian rules imposed restrictions on French dramatic art. At the same time, dramatists created a number of hagiographic plays, seemingly incompatible with the purified classical stage. How could one limit the multivalent life of their protagonists to twenty-four hours? How could one perform the focal point of lives of saints, that of their deaths, without transgressing the necessary bienséance and vraisemblance? Hypotyposis complemented the protagonists’ narratives in the hagiographic corpus. Through the description of conversion and martyrdom, the plot could be supplemented and understood by the spectators. Additionally, these vivid descriptions inspired the conversion of secondary characters. This article will address how dramatists used hypotyposis to adapt hagiographic plays to the dramatic restrictions of their time.
    Au XVIIe siècle les règles néo-aristotéliciennes ont imposé des restrictions à la conception française du drame. En même temps, les dramaturges parisiens ont créé beaucoup de pièces hagiograhiques, apparemment incompatibles avec la scène classique purifiée. Comment limiter la vie multiforme des protagonistes à une période de vingt-quatre heures ? Comment représenter le point culminant de la vie du saint, celui de sa mort, sans atteindre à la bienséance et à la vraisemblance prescrites ? L’hypotypose permettait de contourner ces difficultés. En décrivant les moments de conversion et de martyre, les récits étaient complétés et pouvaient être compris par les spectateurs. De plus, ces vives descriptions incitaient d’autres personnages à se convertir. Dans cet article, il s’agira d’examiner les façons dont l’hypotypose était utilisée par les dramaturges hagiographiques pour s’accommoder aux restrictions dramatiques de leur temps.
