    Modern businesses boost management by implementing integrated IT systems, such as highly popular in Poland – SAP software, to aid the enterprise resource planning (ERP). This paper evaluates the implementation of an ERP system at a steel wheel rims manufacturer and distributor. The main research method was questionnaire, conducted at the Logistics & Customer Service department. The data acquired from the conducted research were analysed and processed to evaluate the implemented solution. Areas for improvement were pinpointed and concerned the adjustment of the software solution to the needs of the enterprise.

    The article aims at evaluating the measures applied in the EU projects supporting e-services development in selected local governments. The article provides characteristics of three partner projects co-funded as part of the 2014-2020 Operational Program Knowledge Education Development, specifically actions implemented under priority axis II Effective public policies for the labour market, economy and education (measure 2.18). Then the actions focused on e-administration development and evaluated it in terms of the benefits for the participating local governments, and thus the residents using the e-services. Further the, article presents the training actions completed as part of the projects and which were evaluated by 672 local government administration employees. Participants evaluated the trainings in terms of acquiring competencies, professional career development and the possibility of applying the knowledge in their professional work. Detailed questions also consisted in collecting the opinions on training organisation and the teaching methods and tools applied. Recapitulation stresses the importance and significance of e-administration development for clients using e-services provided by local governments. Finally, there are some conclusions and recommendations presented, referring to the execution of EU projects with the participation of local governments. This article is an introduction to a series of publications aiming at performing research on the effect of EU funds on the development of local governments, and thus the regional competitiveness.

    Background: Due to the small number of scientific publications covering the area of implementation of Lean Management in small and medium companies, this paper presents the observation and analysis of obtained results, which could be the basis for the implementation of Shopfloor Management (SFM) as a tool for improving both the operational production control as well as the visualization of results in small and medium companies (SME). Methods: The researches consist of the comparative analysis based on the scientific literature and the observation of effects of implementation of SFM method in selected company from the SME sector. Results: The advantages of the implementation of SFM method were found in such areas as: simplification of organisational solutions, use of visual management and shaping the desirable competencies of leaders. Conclusions: The presented results show that coordinated and constantly implemented Lean elements in the company from the SME sector, which previously did not use any tools of this concept, can give a significant increase of turnover, prompt eliminations of shortages as well as the change of the attitude of all employees to continuous improvement. The positive effects of Lean implementation, based on SFM method, were confirmed empirically.
    Wstęp: Ze względu na stosunkowo małą liczbę prac naukowych dotyczących implementacji narzędzi szczupłego zarządzania w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach (MŚP) niniejszy artykuł prezentuje obserwacje i analizę otrzymanych wyników, które mogą stanowić podstawę do implementacji metody Shopfloor Management (SFM) jako narzędzia ułatwiającego zarówno operacyjną kontrolę produkcji, jak i wizualne zarządzanie wynikami w firmach z sektora MŚP. Metody: Badania zostały przeprowadzone dwutorowo: w oparciu o analizę porównawczą, bazującą na studium literatury źródłowej i obserwacje efektów zastosowania metody SFM w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie z sektora MŚP. Wyniki: Stwierdzono korzyści uzyskane w efekcie wdrożenia metody SFM w postaci uproszczenia rozwiązań organizacyjnych, zastosowania zarządzania wizualnego i kształtowania pożądanych kompetencji liderów. Wnioski: Prezentowane badanie pokazuje, że skoordynowane i konsekwentne wdrażanie elementów Lean w przedsiębiorstwie należącym do kategorii MŚP, które wcześniej nie korzystało z żadnych narzędzi tej koncepcji, może dać wyraźną poprawę w zakresie wzrostu obrotów, wczesnego wykrywania i eliminacji braków, a także jako zmiana nastawienia całej załogi w kierunku ciągłego doskonalenia. Pozytywne skutki wdrożenia Lean, w oparciu o metodę SFM zostały potwierdzone empirycznie.

    Battery electric buses (BEBs) are gaining ground in public transport, and the next decade is likely to witness a further increase in the numbers of these vehicles. The core problem of the BEB deployment process in public transport lies in how to deal with the technical limitations of this technology (primarily, a limited range of a bus). This paper outlines the model of vehicle cycle hierarchization dedicated to municipal transport planners and transit companies. The model is based on a multicriteria decision-making methodology that results in a hierarchy of vehicle cycles, ordered from the most to the least suitable to be operated by electric buses. The proof-of-principle demonstration of the model has been carried out in the Polish medium-sized city of Jaworzno.

    Increasing awareness and the number of activities for environmental protection has influenced the development of environmental management systems. Currently, there is a wide range of environmental management systems that can be implemented thus organizations can choose which system suits their activities best. Among small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises, the most popular is a system based on the ISO 14001 standard. Therefore, it seems advisable to promote the skillful implementation of this system. The study was devoted to this issue. It pointed out that the participation of an external consultant, the size of the enterprise as well as the nature of the activity in small and medium manufacturing enterprises has a small importance at the time of its implementation. To implement such a system skillfully, preparation work period for designing and implementing should last about 9 - 12 months.

    This article examines the impact of digital transformation on changes in the sectoral structure of Ukraine’s economy, other post‑communist countries, and countries with highly developed economies. Firstly, we estimate the structural changes and differences in the sectoral model by gross value‑added and sectoral employment model by country using Ryabtsev’s index. Secondly, we calculated the forecast of changes in the researched economies' sectoral structures for 2021 and 2025 using discrete Markov processes. The forecasts made it possible to determine the direction of socio‑economic progress of highly developed and post‑communist countries. Thirdly, assuming that the development of ICT technologies caused the sectoral changes identified as a result of the assessment, we analyzed available level ratings of the digital transformation of the selected economies and named global trends in ICT. Finally, we determined the impact of the ICT index on the substantiality of sectoral changes in the economies of post‑communist countries and countries with highly developed economies. The study results allowed us to conclude that digital technology development affects the economy’s structural changes indirectly due to the reallocation of labor resources from one sector to another. The article substantiates the need to improve the economy’s sectoral model by adding industries related exclusively to the digital economy.
    Artykuł analizuje wpływ transformacji cyfrowej na zmiany w strukturze sektorowej gospodarki Ukrainy, innych krajów postkomunistycznych oraz krajów o gospodarkach wysoko rozwiniętych. Po pierwsze, oszacowano wielkość zmian strukturalnych i różnice w modelu sektorowym według wartości dodanej brutto i sektorowego modelu zatrudnienia według kraju przy użyciu wskaźnika Riabcewa. Po drugie, opracowano prognozę zmian w strukturach sektorowych badanych gospodarek na lata 2021 i 2025 wykorzystując dyskretne procesy Markowa. Prognozy pozwoliły określić kierunek postępu społeczno‑gospodarczego krajów wysoko rozwiniętych i postkomunistycznych. Po trzecie, zakładając, że rozwój technologii ICT spowodował zidentyfikowane w wyniku oceny zmiany sektorowe, przeanalizowano dostępne oceny poziomu transformacji cyfrowej wybranych gospodarek i przedstawiono światowe trendy w ICT. Wreszcie, określono wpływ indeksu ICT na istotność zmian sektorowych w gospodarkach krajów postkomunistycznych oraz krajów o gospodarkach wysoko rozwiniętych. Wyniki badania pozwoliły na stwierdzenie, że rozwój technologii cyfrowych wpływa pośrednio na zmiany strukturalne gospodarki poprzez realokację zasobów pracy z jednego sektora do drugiego. Artykuł uzasadnia potrzebę doskonalenia modelu sektorowego gospodarki poprzez dodanie branż związanych wyłącznie z gospodarką cyfrową.

    The article is the first in a series of articles on the research and implementation of saturation diving technology in our country which presents the specific Polish conditions and achievements against the background of economic and historical circumstances. In view of the fact that research and implementation has a history of more than half a century, selected key figures of this period are recalled, some of whom have disappeared in the fogs of history. In the specialized literature of the world, the Polish underwater habitats of Meduza are among top 6 countries that researched and implemented, this high technology of saturation diving. Regarded as the inspirer , pioneer and creator of the first saturation diving, he designed and developed the technique and decompression with the cooperation of a team of enthusiasts from clubs and professional divers, as well as engineering staff from the Tri-City enterprises. In the first part of the article the author characterizes the saturation dives in comparison with short dives with particular emphasis on decompression, which is the key to safe diving. The article also takes into account the technical conditions for the implementation of the first saturation dives. The author discusses the general methodology of validation and verification of the assumed decompression, referring to the Polish conditions. He describes how the medical, technical, and organizational problems of implementation of saturation diving were solved in the pioneering period against the background of world achievements. Furthermore, the author describes Polish habitat constructions of Meduza and Geonur types and their application to underwater work on the Polish shelf and coastal areas. Despite the great progress in the field of medicine and technology, as well as organization, the problems of saturation diving, despite the passage of time, remain relevant , as these are the most difficult dives from the point of view of organization, underwater physiology and safety technology.
    Artykuł jest pierwszym z cyklu artykułów dotyczących badań i wdrażania technologii nurkowań saturowanych w naszym kraju. Przedstawiono w nim polską specyfikę i osiągniecia na tle uwarunkowań gospodarczych i historycznych w tej dziedzinie. W związku z tym, że historia badań i wdrażania technologii nurkowań saturowanych w naszym kraju ma ponad półwieczną historię, przypomniano w artykule wybranych animatorów, bohaterów tego okresu z których kilku zniknęło w mrokach dziejów. W specjalistycznej literaturze światowej w pierwszej 6-ce krajów, które badały i wdrażały, tą będącą "high technology” technologie znajduje się Polskia. W I części artykułu autor opisuje polskie konstrukcje habitatów typu Meduza i Geonur i ich zastosowanie do prac podwodnych na polskim szelfie i akwenach przybrzeżnych. Mimo wielkiego postępu w dziedzinie medycyny i techniki oraz organizacji problemy nurkowań saturowanych mimo upływającego czasu wciąż są aktualne, gdyż są to nurkowania najtrudniejsze z punktu widzenia organizacji, fizjologii podwodnej i techniki zabezpieczającej.
