Opis:
The paper aims to provide insight into data on leachate migration, composition, and migration time and to improve the engineered barrier system (EBS) importance through different pollutant concentrations in the landfill at the base of the unsaturated zone and off-site, for the real-case scenario with composite liners (EBS) and the worst-case scenario with no liners (NO EBS) using the Land Sim software for 30, 100, 1000 and 20 000 years in 1000 iterations. Also, the paper aims to analyze the leachate leakage through the waste for different migration times and different internal layers to create a qualitative and quantitative basis for assessing leachate’s impact on the environment. The results obtained by modeling the parameters of the real case at the Gigoš landfill showed that the leachate leakage amount is about 340 times lower when EBS is present and concentrations of nitrogen, chlorides, arsenic, lead, cyanides, and mercury in the worst-case scenario (NO EBS) exceed the permitted limits according to the laws of the Republic of Serbia.

Opis:
Safety of radioactive waste repositories operation is associated with a multibarrier system designed and constructed to isolate and contain the waste from the biosphere. Each of radioactive waste repositories is equipped with system of barriers, which reduces the possibility of release of radionuclides from the storage site. Safety systems may differ from each other depending on the type of repository. They consist of the natural geological barrier provided by host rocks of the repository and its surroundings, and an engineered barrier system (EBS). The EBS may itself comprise a variety of sub-systems or components, such as waste forms, canisters, buffers, backfi lls, seals and plugs. The EBS plays a major role in providing the required disposal system performance. It is assumed that the metal canisters and system of barriers adequately isolate waste from the biosphere. The evaluation of the multibarrier system is carried out after detailed tests to determine its parameters, and after analysis including mathematical modeling of migration of contaminants. To provide an assurance of safety of radioactive waste repository multibarrier system, detailed long term safety assessments are developed. Usually they comprise modeling of EBS stability, corrosion rate and radionuclide migration in near fi eld in geosphere and biosphere. The principal goal of radionuclide migration modeling is assessment of the radionuclides release paths and rate from the repository, radionuclides concentration in geosphere in time and human exposure to ionizing radiation.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to provide a brief overview of current labour migration from Ukraine to the Czech Republic and to explore the degree to which Ukrainian labour migrants utilise their skills on the Czech labour market. The analysis, using internal statistical data from the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and evidence from specific migrant surveys, is focused on the relationship between the formal education of economically active Ukrainian migrants and their position on the Czech labour market, and the extent to which there is an educational–occupational mismatch. The article analyses the factors that might influence the match between jobs and formal education and the position of Ukrainian migrants in the labour market. Analysis of the educational background of Ukrainian respondents does not seem to support the popular stereotype of the average Ukrainian as a university-educated construction-site worker or a cleaner, primarily due to the fact that the Czech Republic does not only attract well-educated Ukrainian migrants. Nevertheless, a comparison of the educational and occupational structures of Ukrainian migration does provide evidence of a significant waste of human capital.

Opis:
Assessment of the dynamics of changes in the physical and chemical properties and morphological composition of the filling mixture as well as the identification of the elements capable of migrating into the environment is an important part of assessing the environmental efficiency of such an environmental measure during the filling of mined-out space of an ore deposit. During scientific research, the environmental safety mined-out space filling technology at the gold ore deposit by the mixture of rock waste, cement and crushed car tires was investigated. The authors carried out a set of laboratory studies and created a physical model of groundwater infiltration. Under laboratory conditions, this model allowed the experiment to evaluate the migration of elements and substances from the filling mixture into the environment to assess the risks of secondary pollution. The potential hazard of element migration from the backfill mixture into the environment was determined as a result of testing the backfill mixture on a bench with washing using the model solution that emits drainage water. During research, it was revealed that under the conditions of an ore deposit, the filling mixture components transformation would not lead to hazardous hydrochemical and hydrogeochemical areas or pollution stream formation.
