Opis:
Purpose: The municipal waste has a value as a product on the primary and secondary market. It is an instrument building a pro-social image strategy by creating the conditions of social well-being in a strategic time perspective, especially thanks to the applied processes of biological-mechanical processing and the closed-circuit economy. Waste is a carrier of information useful in the marketing research process, in retrospective and current perspective, concerning consumption and purchasing behaviour of the society, too. The waste value is built in a system of relations between the market entities, the secondary market, business entities, and the involvement of innovative process technologies. Therefore, the aim of the article is to demonstrate the marketing value of municipal waste, built in by the way of garbology research, thanks to the involvement of many entities and modern technologies, especially for trade sector and their cooperants. Design/methodology/approach: In the article, conceptual and qualitative research methods of empirical research (case study) are mainly used. Findings: The results of the research show that effective waste management, that carries marketing signs, and the subject of research - municipal waste, have a marketing value and that is certainly a tool of strategic marketing with high involvement of modern technologies. Research implications: The research on the issues of marketing of the municipal waste opens up a wide field of possibilities, that are not sufficiently used, especially in the relations of primary and secondary market entities, firms of the sectors under review. Originality/value: This is a new theoretical and practical approach to implementation of the re-value of municipal waste concept in the trade sector. It presents the "re-use" sub-concept and "effective use" in trade sector, which is a method of implementation of the closed-circuit economy concept.

Opis:
Agricultural biogas plants are an important source of energy, where the substrates from agricultural crops can be used. However, these plants need a daily input of biomass in the quantities up to several dozen tons. A few years ago, the most important substrate used for biogas production was maize silage. However, currently, there is a trend to limit the use of the afore-mentioned substrate. This is mainly due to the high cost of the substrate and the conflict over the rational use of valuable soils for biomass production for energy purposes. In the paper, the author undertook the attempts to discuss the possibility of limiting the use of raw vegetable materials for energy production, replacing them with agri-food production waste.

Opis:
Waste heat plays a significant role in obtaining the 4th and 5th generation of District Heating (DH) System in cities. This article presents the possibilities of integrating selected waste heat emitters into DH, with the objective of meeting the demand for heat for the selected residential area (approx. 4000 inhabitants) in the city of Gliwice (180 000 inhabitants). The total heating demand of the studied area was estimated at 19 800 GJ including both space heating and domestic hot water. The maximum thermal power was estimated at approx. 2.45 MW. The demand was calculated on the basis of registered metering values for individual buildings which were processed and summarized due to the lack of collective meters for the district. A detailed data classification, correction and completion procedure was elaborated to deal with non-uniform and low-quality data registration. Two industrial objects with waste heat generation were examined to be integrated with the local DH network. The waste heat generation potential equals 9.0 MW for plant #1 and 0.9 MW for plant #2. Apart from the constant generation declared by the industrial entities, realistic profiles including possible shaft-work and maintenance periods were created. It has been shown that the total heat demand for selected residential areas can be covered by integrating waste heat into the current DH network. Depending on the waste heat generation profile, the local area heat demand can be covered entirely or to a large degree (coverage factor ranges from 72 to 100%). The waste heat utilization factor ranges from 6.3 to 8.3%. To manage the remaining waste heat potential, it is required to build additional district heating pipelines and nodes connecting to the existing network to receive an additional 7.45 MW thermal power. The potential of waste heat recovery is significant at the scale of a medium sized city: integrating two large industrial emitters allows up to 13% decarbonization of heats production in the local district heating plan.
