Opis:: The aim of the study is to identify waste generated within the territories of tourist destinations in Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine and to classify it for the use of effective waste management methods. The dynamics of municipal waste generation in tourist destinations in Carpathian region has been analyzed. The sources of waste generation in tourist activities have been identified and classified by the criterion of their further use. The methods of waste management within the tourist destinations in Carpathian region have been proposed. The problem of tourist destinations waste has been identified as one of the significant environmental aspects of tourism industry. Recommendations for implementation of the waste management methods can form the basis of waste management programs within the tourist destinations in the Carpathians. To achieve the goal and to solve the identified tasks a range of research methods have been used in the study: praximetric method (analysis of research experience) and summarizing the information of printed sources on environmental aspects of the tourism industry and the problems of waste management within tourist destinations; comparative analysis has been used for identification of quantitative indicators and dynamics of municipal waste generation; specific search method has been used for identifying, selecting, theoretical analysis, classification of the waste generated in tourist destinations and calculation of their generated amount.

Opis:: In the automated world of business, a modern engineer should be characterized by a passion for technology, creativity, innovative capacity, initiative and commitment to scientific and technical progress, ease of adaptation, but also conviction about the mission of technology. Among these, a lack of competence in recognition of, and response to, anthropogenic ecological threats and destruction of biodiversity and ecosystems was noticed. The aim of this article was to draw attention to the problems of educating engineers, to include provision with specialist knowledge and development of necessary competences. The article also refers to the growth of waste production, including packaging waste, presenting an example of the use of activating methods in adult education, deployed in the subject “Waste management” for students of “Renewable energy sources and waste management”, implemented at the University of Rzeszów. Such teaching activity is of great importance in shaping the aforementioned competences.

Opis:: Due to the high level of losses and food waste nowadays, the problem become global. The main causes of food loss in households are: exceeding shelf life, excessive purchases, damage and low quality, additionally excessive portions of meals, wrong food storage, the bad taste of the product, lack of idea on how to use available ingredients, as well as reckless purchases, too large packaging. Negative effects of food loss can be grouped into three areas: environmental, economic and social, consistent with sustainable development's basic goals. The aim of this article is to present an original proposal for an approach to Lean Society philosophy with respect to the problem of food loss. The authors reviewed conventional and unconventional methods of food preservation, identified available and innovative solutions in terms of reducing food loss and indicated directions and opportunities for reducing food loss on the basis of Lean Society philosophy.
Ze względu na wysoki poziom strat i marnowania żywności w dzisiejszych czasach, problem stał się globalny. Głównymi przyczynami strat żywności w gospodarstwach domowych są: przekroczenie terminu przydatności do spożycia, nadmierne zakupy, zniszczenia i niska jakość, dodatkowo nadmierne porcje posiłków, niewłaściwe przechowywanie żywności, zły smak produktu, brak pomysłu na wykorzystanie dostępnych składników, jak również a także lekkomyślne zakupy, zbyt duże opakowanie. Negatywne skutki utraty żywności można pogrupować w trzy obszary: środowiskowy, ekonomiczny i społeczny, zgodny z podstawowymi celami zrównoważonego rozwoju. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie oryginalnej propozycji podejścia do filozofii Lean Society w odniesieniu do problemu utraty żywności. Autorzy dokonali przeglądu konwencjonalnych i niekonwencjonalnych metod utrwalania żywności.
