Opis:
Drivers are susceptible to pain syndromes. Pain is a subjective feeling, an unpleasant experience related to the damage of tissue essential for correct functioning of the body. A sharp pain serves as both a warning and protective sign. The lack of feeling pain can lead to the disappearance of defensive reflexes, abandonment of treatment, and later to death. Chronic pain is caused by damage or a long lasting illness without a particular location from which it stems from. After knowing its cause, one can attempt prevention of its emergence or the elimination of it. Drivers are a major occupation group, which, due to the activities carried out and working conditions, is particularly vulnerable to pain disorders affecting the locomotor system, caused by the “wear and tear” of the elements of the spine. These may lead to morphological damage and disorders within the musculature and nervous system. Research was conducted in Zielona Gora examining the locomotor system disorders among professional drivers in order to develop a medical and rehabilitation programme.

OBJECTIVES: Development of movement model of fighting tracked vehicle to study oscillatory processes that cause a dynamic load on the driver’s workplace and imitate real conditions of fighting tracked vehicle’s movement to develop technical requirements for dynamic simulators with the achievement of high degree of their compliance with the real vehicle. Research hypothesis. Use of the improved mobility platform of dynamic simulators, realizing the conditions as close as possible to conditions of driving a real fighting tracked vehicle. METHODS: The presented views are the result of empirical research based on the general scheme of forces acting on a fighting tracked vehicle and allow to theoretically estimate the dynamic load of mechanic-driver's workplace. RESULTS: In the study, the author developed an improved model of the movement of a fighting tracked vehicle, which describes the spatial movement of its body in motion on the support surface of a complex profile and allows to estimate theoretically the dynamic workload of the driver’s workplace, which provides a basic design of a dynamic platform in six degrees of freedom and will provide to develop the requirements for the modernization of dynamic simulators. CONCLUSIONS: When performing combat tasks mechanic-driver of FTV is exposed to the effects of spatial movements of different nature. The mechanic-driver during the movement of FTV feels a wide range of influences that are caused by the interaction of the tracked running gear (TRG) with the bearing surface and change the direction of movement of FTV.

Opis:
Objectives The article analyzes the driver’s psychophysiological qualities such as complex reaction and individual ability to control the vehicle that has suddenly lost its stability. The comparative analysis of the duration of reaction time was performed to assess the negative influence of speaking on a phone and driving with one hand. Material and Methods The experimental research was carried out on special training grounds with the road surface having low adhesion coefficient, where sudden lateral vehicle destabilization was caused by the moving plate mounted on the road surface. The vehicle onboard equipment was used for identifying the difference between the destabilization moment and the responsive driver’s steering wheel movement which in this research was assumed as the reaction time. Results Statistical methods of research applied for the analysis of results showed high probability that the driver’s actions would be significantly late in controlling a vehicle. When stabilizing a vehicle movement, the complex reaction time of a vehicle driver speaking on a mobile phone is increased by 18.1% as compared with the conventional driving by a driver not speaking on a phone. Conclusions The risk of using the phone depends on the driver characteristics, traits and attitudes that affect the level of their experienced dangers, and the intensity of using mobile phones and driving. Speaking on a phone while driving increases the driver’s reaction time and mental workload, and changes his or her visual overview ability as well as understanding of the situation. Opis:
Combustion engines drive motor vehicles, which are commonly used, and their efficiency does not exceed forty per cent. It is hard to accept such a waste of energy nowadays when there is less and less fossil fuel and the ecological norms are being tightened. That is why hybrid power transmission systems and systems for energy recuperation - especially kinetic, so far being lost – are becoming more popular. One of such solutions is a unit to recover energy from a driver's seat vibration in a motor vehicle. It allows changing the kinetic energy of the vibrating seat into the electric one. Such a unit is installed under the driver's seat and supports the gaseous shock absorber. The unit consists of two toothed bars, coupled by two pairs of gear wheels, which drive the alternating current generator rotor. The rotor is joined with a driving shaft by one-way centrifugal clutches. One bar drives the rotor while the seat moves down and the other - while the seat moves up. The rotor is equipped with permanent magnets, which, by rotation, induce the power in the stator's winding. The generated power goes through the voltage stabilizing and rectification systems (4.75-5.25 V) and charges four batteries connected to USB output. The obtained electric energy may be used to supply other electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones. The unit will be installed in a farm tractor. The research checking the unit's effectiveness will be carried out in the near future.

Intelligent transportation systems introduce smart technology to civil transportation infrastructure. Modern services depend on the use of information technology systems. Cybersecurity plays an important role in the ongoing development of information technology. Enhancing cybersecurity and protecting critical information infrastructures are essential to each national security. Nowadays, vehicles are equipped with electronic security systems that automatically call the emergency service operator in case of an accident. This safety system combines different technology in order to ensure vehicle safety. When you are unconscious, the system informs the rescuers where the accident happened. They arrive at the scene of the accident within a few minutes. The introduction of this system in vehicles results from Regulation (EU) 2015/758 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2015 on type-approval requirements for the deployment of the 112 on-board eCall system and amending Directive 2007/46/EC. Nevertheless, there is concern that this could expose connected cars with their passengers to potential risks from online threats. Scientific development for the security of our vehicles has also raised the possibility of misuse of vehicle data. It is seen that e-threats have become the leading threats in the further deployment of e-services in the society of the 21st century.

Opis:
Year to year, vehicles are becoming more advanced, and manufacturers offer newer support systems. Progressive technology development must be followed by relevant sociological changes, including establishing a proper user awareness level. Even though compulsory driver training, required before obtaining a license, consists of selected support features, e.g. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), it does not provide novice drivers with the necessary practical skills and knowledge of all automation features available on the market. To reduce the human error factor, the European Parliament adopted new regulations, including minimum safety requirements for new vehicles. This paper identifies the gap between the current approach toward teaching automation and necessary changes that should be made to ensure road safety. It provides an overview of ADAS functions allowed to be used during driving license exam of category B in different European countries. Moreover, the publication contains results of work carried out under the Trustonomy project. Outcomes obtained from the questionnaires were used to develop new driver training curricula. The publication discusses the developments of a survey conducted among 83 Polish drivers and 91 car fleet managers. The paper reveals their attitude and expectations towards driver training. The results indicate that despite the awareness of ADAS's positive impact on safety (80% of drivers vote, 96% of car fleet managers votes), man people still didn't take part in any training and still do not know how to use systems properly. Even more worrying is the fact that more than 50% of drivers admitted they acquired knowledge about system operation based on their own mistakes. Many responders expressed their interest in acquiring new knowledge. This situation indicates an urgent need to introduce changes to the driver training system. Therefore, the publication highlights different regulatory boundaries across Europe and stresses the need to update existing curricula to introduce proper automation-related training.

The paper presents a driver model, which can be used in a computer simulation of a curved ride of a car. The identification of the driver parameters consisted in a comparison of the results of computer calculations obtained for the driver-vehicle-environment model with different driver data sets with test results of the double lane-change manoeuvre (Standard No. ISO/TR 3888:1975, International Organization for Standardization [ISO], 1975) and the wind gust manoeuvre. The optimisation method allows to choose for each real driver a set of driver model parameters for which the differences between test and calculation results are smallest. The presented driver model can be used in investigating the driver-vehicle control system, which allows to adapt the car construction to the psychophysical characteristics of a driver.

Unreadable and inconveniently arranged instruments make it difficult for the driver to accurately read signals and understand the relayed information. They can distract the driver and prolong response times, thus posing a risk to traffic safety. Designers also have to account for customer expectations, including a demand for esthetically appealing dashboards that incorporate vast amounts of data in limited space since such dashboards appear to be maximally adapted to the driver’s needs. However, attractive dashboards are not always adapted to human perceptual abilities. A neural model was developed in the study to objectively assess dashboard ergonomics in passenger cars. The data were used to determine the correlations between subjective driver impressions and the functionality and ergonomics of dashboards evaluated objectively based on the adopted criteria. With the best-learned networks, 3 conformance classes were obtained for the predicted cases. However, taking into account the ± 1 class, as many as 3 of the preserved ANN gave correct answers in all 6 cases.
