Opis:
This paper explores the directions for the application of unmanned aerial vehicles in the provision of security to vital elements of a country’s critical infrastructure. The analysis focuses on two paths of development: the first one refers to the transportation system, the latter is related to the gas supply network – the basic components of a country’s critical infrastructure. The first section of this paper will examine the current state of knowledge in the field, and is designed as a reference of terminology pertaining to unmanned aerial vehicles (definitions and classification). The section shall furthermore provide a basis for and a contribution to the developed conceptual-semantic framework for UAV research. The first direction of development is described in terms of the characteristics and assumptions of the system; this includes an overview of the specific requirements of the unmanned platform itself, as well as the elements of the system, such as a local monitoring centre and other components. Furthermore, this section provides the overview of the designated mobile application, whose development is expected to improve the efficiency of system operation, which is a conceptual novelty considering similar developments. The second direction concerns the development of an unmanned system of production, storage, and use of chemical and radioactive substances, including pipelines for hazardous substances. The programme that fits perfectly in the framework of the second considered branch of development is “Cricket” [Polish: “Świerszcz”] – a programme implemented in the periodic inspection of gas supply infrastructure. The description of the programme in question included specifying the technical and operational requirements for the fight devices as well as for the equipment.

Opis:
The dynamic development of microelectronics and wireless communication at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries contributed to the increase in the availability and popularity of all kinds of unmanned platforms, air, land, surface, and underwater. In the case of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also popularly known as drones, the significant (crucial) advantages are high freedom of motion (i.e., the ability to move in three planes) and the possibility of using it practically anywhere (as opposed to water platforms). These factors influenced the dynamic development of this market sector and the high availability of various models and equipment. UAVs are being used in many sectors and services, both for civil and military purposes. Widespread availability, low cost, and ease of use also favor the possibility of using civilian UAVs for criminal, smuggling, terrorist, or military purposes. Recent armed conflicts, e.g., in Nagorno-Karabakh or Ukraine, and the situation on the eastern Polish-Belarusian border clearly show this. All countries recognize the potential and threat posed by the development of unmanned platforms. Therefore, for several years, special attention has been paid to analyses and research in sensors, effectors, and anti-drone systems. It is worth emphasizing that some effectors (e.g., jammers or spoofers) may significantly affect the navigation process of neighboring objects that use global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs). On the other hand, the use of anti-drone systems is important, especially in the context of protecting institutions and facilities of companies, state administration (i.a., embassies, consulates), army, strategic importance objects (e.g., related to energy, chemical industry), or protection of mass events. In this paper, we present an overview of solutions available on the market and development directions in the field of anti-drone technology.

Opis:
The article presents issues related to legal regulations pertaining to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Poland and France. It describes commercial and non-commercial rules of UAV use. It also summarizes conditions concerning UAV weight, procedures of personnel and certification, as well as the space where UAVs may perform flight operations. Additionally, the application and use of UAVs in civil and military environments are described. It allows for the statement that the UAV role in air transport is increasing. Due to the benefits they offer, such as the possibility to remain in the air for a long time, performing flight operations in a harmful environment and little influence on the natural environment, UAVs will be increasingly important and systematically replacing manned aircraft.

Opis:
A design of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) construction, intended for autonomous flights in a group, was presented in this article. The design assumptions, practical implementation and results of the experiments were given. Some of the frame parts were made using 3D printing technology. It not only reduces the costs but also allows for better fitting of the covers to the electronics, which additional-ly protects them against shocks and dirt. The most difficult task was to develop the proper navigation system. Owing to high costs of preci-sion positioning systems, common global positioning system (GPS) receivers were used. Their disadvantage is the floating position error. The original software was also described. It controls the device, allows performing autonomous flight along a pre-determined route, anal-yses all parameters of the drone and sends them in a real time to the operator. The tests of the system were carried out and presented in the article, as well.

The research problem described in the paper originates from the lack of adequate force protection of tactical level logistic units supporting forces in battle. The author tries to prove the necessity of the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in order to ensure security of tactical level supply chains. The new technologies may be an innovative and perspective solution for the problem of the absence of force protection structures in logistic units. The author considers the use of UAVs for observation, reconnaissance and active force protection of logistic points and logistic units supporting tactical level forces. The problem is to choose the correct UAV type and to organise the unmanned autonomous systems (UAS) defined as electromechanical systems with no human operator on board, capable of performing operations in airspace.

Opis:
There are many manufacturers on the market offering various types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The multitude of drones available on the market means that the choice of a UAV for a specific application appears to be a decision problem to be solved. The aim of this article is a comparative analysis of drones used in photogrammetric surveys. The criteria for evaluating the UAVs were: availability and product support, payload (min. 5 kg), price (PLN 100,000), as well as space available for measurement modules. These are the requirements that must be met for the implementation of the INNOBAT project, the aim of which is to develop an integrated system using autonomous unmanned aerial and surface vehicles, intended for bathymetric monitoring in the coastal zone. The comparative analysis of drones was based on 27 companies producing UAV. Based on the analysis, 6 drones that met the project requirements were selected. They were: Aurelia X6 Pro, Aurelia X8 Standard LE, DroneHexa AG, FOX-C8 XT, Hercules 10 and Zoe X4. Selected UAVs differ from each other, among others, in the number of rotors, flight duration and resistance to weather conditions. Individual characteristics of drones may have a different rank depending on their application, therefore the selection of UAVs should be made after prioritisation criteria of a given project.

Opis:
This paper presents a time-saving method for monitoring the ecology of a dispersed territory using the delivery of measurement units provided by unmanned aerial vehicles with measurement sensors according to a reverse priority algorithm. It is achievable because of the decreasing mean waiting time of the order inside a queue during low-priority order servicing. The experimental research that confirms the efficiency of the proposed method in the case of delivery distributed measurement systems for low-priority measurement is carried out. The experimental research of the proposed method in the case of one-channel and many-channel SMD that can have an option of order rejection or an in-queue waiting option is conducted in WeBots. The probability distributions in the case of this system applying are compared with similar probability distributions in the case of systems of direct priority applying. Comparison and analysis enable us to conclude that the probability distribution in the case of SMD with a direct priority of delivery tends to decrease and approximates zero. This is related to the fact that means at the end of the queue to be handled have a lower priority, as these means of measurement take longer to handle the order than those at the head of the queue. Thus, the means of a low priority will be serviced in the last charge and there is a constant possibility that in some cases such orders will be rejected. The proposed method enables moderate this situation by using increasing the possibility of servicing the low-priority orders. The method can increase the efficiency of environmental monitoring and pollution emission control.

Opis:
The goal of this paper was to determine necessary dynamical conditions for the object tracking task. Developing these conditions required examining dynamical relationships between the UAV, camera head, disturbances and tracked object. This analysis was conducted in order to assess whether a given UAV-camera head set was suitable for a given object tracking task. The study assumed that the UAV was equipped with a flight trajectory control system. We discussed the methods of the dynamical properties description and finding a range of application for a particular set “UAV-camera head”. For each dynamical element of the examined system, we proposed a method of computing the parameters of the simulation model which corresponded to the behaviour of the real elements. In order to describe the range of the applications for the UAV-camera head set, we defined the space Ω – all combinations of the parameters which characterized the dynamics of the disturbance and object. Moreover, this study developed the method of selecting the subspace Ωs which described acceptable parameters of the object’s and disturbance’s dynamics. This paper presented the example of proper object tracking in the case of meeting the dynamical conditions and the example of losing the object in the opposite case.

Opis:
At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, development of microelectronics and microwave techniques allowed for minimization of electronic devices and systems, and the use of microwave frequency bands for modern radio communication systems. On the other hand, the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) have contributed to the popularization of radio navigation in civilian applications. These factors had a direct impact on the development and dissemination of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In the initial period, the UAVs were used mainly for the army needs. This results also from the legal aspects of the UAV use in the airspace. Currently, commercial UAVs for civilian applications, such as image recognition, monitoring, transport, etc., are presented increasingly. Generally, the GNSS system accuracy for the UAV positioning during a flight is enough. However, the GNSS use for automatic takeoff and landing may be insufficient. The extensive, ground-based navigation support systems used at airports by manned aircraft testify to these. In the UAV case, such systems are not used due to their complexity and price. For this reason, the novel dedicated take-off and landing systems are developed. The proposal of the autonomous landing system, which is based on the Doppler effect, was presented in 2017. In this case, the square-based beacon configuration was analyzed. This paper shows the influence of various beacon configurations in the Doppler-based landing system on the positioning error during the UAV landing approach.
