Opis:
Tungsten oxide (WO₃) nanocrystalline powder was successfully synthesized by direct precipitation technique starting from sodium tungstate dehydrate (Na₂WO₄·2H₂O) as precursor at 80°C for 48 h. The morphological characteristics, distribution, and crystallite size of WO₃ nanocrystalline powder were analysed by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. According to transmission electron microscopy results, the mean particle size of WO₃ nanocrystalline powder was approximately determined as 41.7 nm. The gas sensing performance of WO₃ nanocrystalline powder for saturated toluene vapor was measured by two probe resistivity unit in a closed vessel at room temperature. In addition, WO₃ nanocrystalline powder was able to respond the lowest concentration of 500 ppm. The results showed that the sample exhibited high sensitivity (93%) and good response reproducibility (0.93+5.5%) for toluene vapor.

Opis:
The electrical contactors play a crucial role in closing the circuit in many power distribution components like overhead lines, underground cables, circuit breakers, transformers, and control systems. The failure in these components mainly occurs due to the break-down of contactors due to the continuous opening and closing action of contacts. Silver (Ag)-based oxide contact materials are widely used in practice, among which silver tin oxide (AgSnO2) is most common. An attempt is made in increasing the performance of AgSnO2, by adding Tungsten Oxide (WO3) in various weight proportions, thus finding the optimal proportion of AgSnO2WO3 to have increased mechanical and electrical performances. All the composite samples are fabricated in-house using powder metallurgy process. The assessment of physical and electrical properties namely, density, hardness, porosity, and electrical conductivity, showed that 90%Ag-8.5%SnO2-1.5%WO3 composite yielded superior results. With help of morphological tests, wear characteristics are also investigated, which showed that 90%Ag-8.5%SnO2-1.5%WO2 composite has a wear coefficient of 0.000227 and a coefficient of friction of 0.174 at an optimized load of 10 N and sliding velocity of 0.5 mm/s.

Opis:
Fluorine and tungsten co-doped tin (IV) oxide (WFTO) thin films have been prepared first time by a sol–gel spin coating method. The effect of F and W co-dopant ratio on optical, electrical and structural properties of SnO2 was investigated. It was found that the optical properties of the films were obviously affected by the co-dopant ratio. When the F:W co-dopant ratio increases from 0.25:0.25 to 0.75:0.50, the transmittance in the short wavelengths slightly increases and transmittance edge shifts towards shorter wavelength. With an increase in the co-dopant ratio, the reduction and red shifts in the optical transmittance edge are very obvious at all wavelengths. Transmittance values at 550 nm for the films have varied between 79.64% and 50.20%. The indirect and direct band gap values for WFTO-1, WFTO-2, WFTO-3 and WFTO-4 samples were calculated to be 3.73, 3.79, 3.48, 3.40 eV and 4.03, 4.04, 3.98, 3.97 eV, respectively. The crystal structure of the films has been investigated by X-ray diffraction patterns. It has been observed that WFTO-1 and WFTO-2 samples have (111) preferential orientation corresponding to SnO2 cubic phase. This orientation almost disappears and changes to tetragonal phase (110) orientation for WFTO-3 and WFTO-4. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first cubic structure observation for SnO2 grown by the sol–gel technique. The electrical properties were also changed with co-doping ratio. The best optical, electrical and structural properties were obtained for mole ratio 0.75:0.50 (F:W).
