    This article presents the results of an extensive questionnaire survey focused on changes in the transport behaviour of the population of the Czech Republic immediately after the government’s announcement about the measures implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The questionnaire aimed to determine the changes in the use of the mode of transport for regular travel to work, school, or for shopping, as well as to determine the changes in the frequency of these travels according to monitored socio-demographic groups of inhabitants and specified size groups of settlements. This article contains a statistical evaluation of these changes in the transport behaviour of the population using sophisticated statistical tools. A method is proposed for estimating the number of passengers in public transport using a linear regression model based on the data from conducted transport behaviour survey. In this paper, the Data envelopment analysis (hereinafter referred to as DEA method) within the case study in the South Bohemian Region is also used to determine whether the COVID-19 measures have reduced the efficiency of public transport.

    Opis:
    Modal share is an important component in developing sustainable transport within a city. In recent years, many cities have set modal share targets for balanced and sustainable transport modes: 30% of public transport and 30% of non-motorized (cycling and walking) modes. Gdansk strategic documents have set similar goals with some actions already taken towards those goals. The cycle network is increasing popular. Gdansk’s cycling infrastructure is more developed than that in other Polish cities. Promotional actions are undertaken each year. Despite that, the share of cycling in the modal split still remains at the low level of 1-3%. The article analyses the case study of Gdansk’s cycling policy and its results. The article summarizes the modal share targets set in Gdansk’s strategic documents, describes the development of its cycle network and promotional campaigns, and presents the volume of bicycle traffic and its share in the city’s modal split. Finally, the article aims to identify the causes behind the low percentage of bicyclists in Gdansk.

    Many cities in the world, including cities in Europe, implement a policy aimed at improving the attractiveness of alternatives modes to a private car. The literature often shows impressive changes in the modal split in favour of environmentally friendly means of transportation (public transportation, cycling, going on foot). Because individual cases do not decide of the success of European policies in the field of sustainable transport development, the article summarizes the statistics of modal split of traffic for more than 300 cities in the last 10 years. The data present a problem in Europe and contribute to the debate on changing the current approach to the issue.

    The main subject of this research was to identify recent basic trends in the development of inland waterway transport in the EU as well as to evaluate this from both EU transport policy objectives and logistics markets’ requirements. For this purpose, classical statistical and economic analysis methods as well as the documentation research method were used. The basic threats and barriers to the development of inland waterway transport are indicated, as well as various actions necessary to limit or eliminate them. An attempt was also made to assess the opportunities and prospects for the development of this transport mode in the next decade in the context of the development of the broader EU transport market. The main objective of this research was to perform a market assessment of the development prospects of this mode of transport in the era of dynamic developing logistic customer service standards, as well as progressive globalization and the 4th industrial revolution (digitalization). In this respect, political versus market-oriented scenarios of the development of EU inland shipping were analyzed and evaluated. The conclusions relate to the ongoing and upcoming modal shift on the EU transport market as well as regulatory measures undertaken by the EU.

    The article presents results of research aimed at construction of the model for evaluation of potential impact of mobility management instruments implemented in areas of high volume of work related trips. The model helps forecast the impact of the instruments application on the changes in modal split. In proposed approach the potential decrease in the car share depends on the improvement of public transport accessibility of the area and its current private transport accessibility. Due to the specific nature of the analyzed problem the elements of fuzzy set theory have been used to construct the model. To determine unknown volumes of decreases results achieved during implementation of mobility plans in the European workplaces with high number of employees have been taken under consideration. Approximation of the surface received as a result of fuzzy inference has been conducted using formula of multiple linear regression. Prepared model has been applied on the example of Cracow to evaluate of potential impact of mobility plans on the change in modal split.

    Transport in cities plays a crucial role in the lives of inhabitants. Development of cities affects the functional aspects of the network include the emergence of new areas of traffic generators. Unsuited infrastructure causes many negative effects that outraged the standard of living in cities. In this paper the concept of Park and Ride was presented as a way to cope with the growing volume of traffic. Full procedure for estimating the contribution of different modes of transport including the Park and Ride was presented. Additionally, an important part of the article is devoted to a description of full Delphic approach, applied for membership function (MF) shape definition of chosen function, estimating linguistic variable.

    Within the INMOP 3 research project, an attempt was made to solve a number of problems associated with the methodology of modelling travel in urban areas and the application of intermodal models. One of these is the ability to describe the behaviour of transport system users, when it comes to making decisions regarding the selection of means of transport and searching for relationships between travel describing factors and the decisions made in regard of means of transport choice. The paper describes a probabilistic approach to the determination of modal split, and the application of a logistic regression model to determine the impact of variables describing individual and mass transport travels on the probability of selecting specific means of transport. Travels in local model of Warsaw city divided into 9 motivation groups were tested, for which ultimately 8 models were developed, out of which 7 were deemed very well fitted (obtained pseudoR2 was well above 0.2).
    Umiejętność opisania zachowań użytkowników systemu transportowego w zakresie podejmowanych decyzji dotyczących wyboru środka transportowego stanowi podstawę tworzenia modeli podróży, służących analizom i prognozowaniu ruchu. Wiąże się to z poszukiwaniem zależności pomiędzy czynnikami opisującymi podróże, a podejmowanymi decyzjami o wyborze środków transportu. Decyzje o tym, jaki rodzaj transportu wybrać są zdeterminowane różnymi czynnikami dotyczącymi samej podróży, ale również indywidualnymi preferencjami użytkowników systemu transportowego. Tworząc modele podziału zadań przewozowych nie sposób jest, ze względu na dostępność danych, uwzględnić wszystkie możliwe czynniki, zatem trzeba uznać, że o mechanizmie wyboru będą decydować czynniki niekontrolowane, losowe. Dlatego też uzasadnione jest stosowanie podejścia probabilistycznego. Prawidłowe opisanie procesu podziału zadań przewozowych jest bardzo ważne zwłaszcza przy analizach wariantowych inwestycji transportu indywidualnego i publicznego. Oszacowanie pasażerów przeniesionych pomiędzy systemami jest wymagane m.in. w projektach aplikujących o dofinansowanie z programów Unii Europejskiej i jest oceniane przez jednostki opiniujące (np. CUPT i Jaspers). Rosnące zapotrzebowanie na stosowanie modeli ruchu wymusza konieczność rozwijania i wzmacniania metod ich budowy, poprawiania wiarygodności i funkcjonalności. Tematykę wyboru środka transportu podjęto w projekcie badawczym INMOP 3 („Zasady prognozowania ruchu drogowego z uwzględnieniem innych środków transportu”) realizowanym w okresie 1 luty 2016 - 30 kwietnia 2019 r. na zamówienie Narodowego Centrum Badań i Rozwoju (NCBiR) oraz Generalnej Dyrekcji Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad (GDDKiA)6. Projekt zajmuje się hierarchicznym podejściem do modelowania i prognozowana podróży, tj. dotyczy metod modelowania ruchu na poziomie krajowym, regionalnym i lokalnym. INMOP 3 stawia sobie za cel podjęcie próby rozwiązania szeregu problemów szczegółowych, także związanych z modelowaniem podróży w obszarach zurbanizowanych, gdzie zagadnienie intermodalności modelu i podział zadań przewozowych jest szczególnie ważne.

    Local authorities of Katowice have proposed to localize a transport hub of the Park&Ride system at Brynowska junction. The paper reviews the impact of this proposition on road traffic at the hub. The analysis of transport modal split was performed. In order to estimate the effects of such a system, an analysis of traffic distribution was done with a questionnaire survey. Based on the results, two traffic simulation models have been developed: first, simulating the current state of Brynowska junction and, second, presenting the junction with the transport hub of the Park&Ride system. A comparison of the two models made it possible to estimate the effects of the implementation of the Park&Ride system. Obtained results prove that this solution could improve the current state of the transportation system.
    Władze miasta Katowice zaproponowały utworzenie systemu Park&Ride w węźle przesiadkowym ,,Brynowska”. W artykule przedstawiono wpływ wybudowania systemu Park&Ride na pętlę oraz na ruch drogowy. Wykonano analizę podziału modalnego środków transportu. W celu oceny efektów wdrożenia systemu wykonano analizę rozkładu ruchu drogowego oraz przeprowadzono badania ankietowe. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników sporządzono symulację modelu ruchu, stanu obecnego oraz proponowanego po wdrożeniu systemu Park&Ride. Porównanie dwóch modeli pozwoliło na oszacowanie efektów wdrożenia systemu Park&Ride. Otrzymane rezultaty dowodzą, że takie rozwiązanie może poprawić aktualny stan ruchu drogowego w analizowanym miejscu.
