Opis:
The article looks at the problem of online collaboration vis à vis individual differences, with special regard to the converger learning style, also referred to – throughout the article – as the solitary outstanding mind. Based on a study of a group of such learners (N=11), utilizing a bifocal analysis of personality types determined by the NEO Five Factor Inventory together with student self-reflection journals, it is being argued here that for everybody to benefit from online co-operation, the teacher needs to sequence groupwork, intertwining it with phases of quiet individual effort; as well as carefully choose tasks remembering their specificity is a catalyser of genuine collaboration.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of personality traits on burnout among staff at the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The present study is applied and survey-descriptive from aspect of aim and data collection, respectively. The statistical population of the study was all employees of the Central Bank, of which 348 persons were selected by simple random sampling method. Research tools were NEO questionnaire of personality traits, Maslach and Jackson Burnout Inventory (1981). Cronbach's alpha to evaluate the reliability of questionnaires was obtained 0.734 and 0.716, respectively. Data collected were analyzed using structural equation modeling software in Lisrel environment and regression and Pearson's correlation tests in SPSS software. The findings of the study show that there is a significant relationship between five dimensions of personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, Experience-taking, consistency and loyalty) with burnout. The results showed that people with the neuroticism personality trait and more consistency have been more prone to job burnout. Other results also showed that the neuroticism, extraversion, consistency and loyalty personality traits are good predictors of job burnout variable.

Background: The aim of the study is to clarify the beliefs and numerous doubts about the possible identification of personality in handwriting. The purpose of the described studies was to show an association between personality traits and handwriting features. The author aimed to verify whether or not there are any specific characteristics of writing in relation to personality traits. | Method: Two different studies have been described. A different number of subjects participated in the investigations and different techniques for personality assessment were used; however, the same set of handwriting features was analyzed in each study. In the first study the NEO-FFI (n=260) was used, while the EPQ-R (n=180) was used in the second study. The graphic characteristics of the handwriting samples were examined by forensic experts. | Results: The correlations between the personality traits and handwriting features were counted. The results showed that there were few significant correlations between handwriting parameters and personality traits, as measured by the NEO-FFI and EPQ-R. | Conclusions: No writing characteristics were specific to personality traits. There is no evidence for assessment of personality on the base of handwriting.

The aim of the research, conducted at the Institute of Plant Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology of the  University of Life Sciences in Lublin since 1982, is the systematic gathering and multi-annual characterization  of triticale accessions collected in the Polish gene bank, as well as regeneration of materials preserved in the seed stores in case of reduced germination capacity or a small sample of grains. Valorisation of accessions  is carried out in a 4-year cycle of field experiments and includes botanical identification and a description of morphological and useful traits (agricultural and qualitative), conducted every year according to the same methodology. The valorisation data include both traits determined in field evaluation (assessment of emergence, overwintering, lodging, fungal disease resistance, and heading and full maturity dates) and measurements of biometric features (plant height, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number and weight of grains per spike, 1,000 grain weight, protein content in grain). As part of the research, accessions have been made available for use in breeding programmes and have been donated to research and development institutes as a broad spectrum of variation for genetic similarity analysis and to provide genetic sources of such traits as resistance to pre-harvest sprouting, response to toxic aluminium ions, and disease resistance.

The purpose of the study was to determine the phenotypic correlations between meat quality traits in Popielno White rabbits. The experimental material consisted of 93 Popielno White rabbits (49♀; 44♂). From weaning at 35 days of age until 84 days of age, the animals were housed in a battery system and fed ad libitum with a complete feed containing 10,2 MJ of metabolic energy, 16,5% total protein and 14% crude fibre. The rabbits were slaughtered at 84 days of age with a body weight of about 2,6 kg. The research material was the meat of longissimus lumborum muscle. Meat quality characteristics, i.e. meat acidity, meat colour, shear force, meat texture and cooking loss, were examined. The results were analysed using the SAS package (2014). Many statistically significant relationships were found between the meat quality characteristics of Popielno White rabbits. The results indicate that potential selection towards a change in pH value may adversely affect the meat texture of Popielno White rabbits. Selection to improve the colour of the meat of this breed may have a negative effect on its shear force, hardness and cooking loss. Selection to improve shear force will improve the other texture profile parameters. An improvement in the meat texture parameters of Popielno White rabbits will lead to an improvement in the cooking loss value. Dependencies among meat quality traits in Popielno White rabbits are high enough to be useful in selecting an appropriate breeding method.

Introduction. Marijuana is one of the most widely used psychoactive substance. There is evidence of genetic predisposition for addiction. Objective. The aim of the study is to evaluate personality traits measured by the NEO Five-Factor Inventory and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, combined with analysis of Tag1B rs1079597 and Tag1D rs1800498 located in the DRD2 gene. Materials and method. The study group consisted of 214 rural cannabinoid users and 301 controls. The same psychometric test and real-time PCR genotyping were performed in both studied groups. Results. The values of Anxiety state, Anxiety trait, NEO FFI: Neuroticism and Openness in the rural cannabis using group were significantly higher than in the control group. On the other hand, lower values were observed among rural people using cannabis compared to the control group for NEO FFI: Extraversion, Agreeability and Conscientiousness. In the Anxiety trait subscale, a 2% association with the polymorphism DRD2 Tag1B rs1079597 was detected in subjects using cannabis. However, for the DRD2 Tag1D rs1800498, there was no effect on the differences in personality traits between rural cannabis users and the control group. Conclusions. The study shows differences in personality traits between the cannabis using group and controls. Interaction between genetic factors and personality traits was also detected. The association showing the combination of psychological characteristics and genetic variants can bring us closer to the overall picture of the issue of marijuana addiction.

The article discusses similarities and differences in the personality development of men and women in their life-span. The analyses of the developmental psychology research show that boys and girls develop their own personality from the early years of their life, thus adapting themselves to the gender stereotypes. The article also contains a survey of meta-analyses concerning the personality traits of men and women, conducted in different countries from 1958 to 2001 (Maccoby, Jacklin, 1974, Hall, 1984, Feingold, 1994, Costa, Terraciano, McCrae, 2001). The metaanalyses show a coherent image of gender differences in personality traits concerning greater tender-mindedness in women and greater assertiveness in men. At the same time, they indicate temporal changes and trends connected with a tendency for differences to disappear. They also emphasize cultural distinctness.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the biomass and nitrogen accumulation in early maturing soybean plants experiencing contrasting weather conditions. Soybean (Glycine max) is a species of agricultural crop plant that is widely described in scientific publications. During 2014–2016, a field experiment with early maturing soybean ‘Merlin’ was carried out at Grodziec Śląski, Poland (49°48'01" N, 18°52'04" E). Results showed that the morphological traits of the plants, the yield of individual plants, and the soybean crop were all closely related to the climatic conditions. A high amount of precipitation stimulated seed development, resulting in a high production potential. The harvest index calculated for soybean ‘Merlin’ was high and exceeded 0.5 g g−1. The nitrogen content of the aboveground biomass increased during ontogenesis. The maximum yield of dry matter was noted at the green maturity phase, which subsequently decreased at the full maturity phase because of the loss of the leaf fraction. The variation in the effectiveness of nitrogen accumulation in seeds between 2015 and 2016 was 30%. The nitrogen harvest index values were high in each year of the experiment and exceeded 0.92 g−1. For the production of 1 ton of seeds with an adequate amount of soybean straw, plants needed, on average, 68 kg of nitrogen.
Celem badań było określenie akumulacji biomasy i azotu we wcześnie dojrzewającej odmianie soi [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] w zmiennych warunkach pogodowych. Wartości indeksu żniwnego azotu (NHI) były wysokie w każdym roku doświadczenia i przekraczały 0.92 g g−1. Do produkcji 1 tony nasion z odpowiednią ilością słomy rośliny potrzebowały średnio 68 kg azotu.

The present study was designed to verify hypothesized predictor effects for five anger-related variables, i.e. trait anger, anger expression-out, anger expression-in, anger control-out, and anger-control-in. A sample of 138 students completed measures for FFM personality traits (NEO-FFI), self-esteem (SES), shyness (RCBS), and anger (STAXI-2). The study confirmed the effects of neuroticism and agreeableness as being the chief personality predictors of anger; however, for the domain of anger expression-in, an unexpected role of extraversion was revealed. Furthermore, introducing self-esteem and shyness changed some effects of FFM traits. Entering self-esteem as an additional predictor improved the predictability of anger control-in. Additionally, a mediation effect of shyness was revealed for the relation between extraversion and anger expression-in.

Material and methods: The study enrolled 34 patients with the diagnosis of morbid obesity in the process of qualification for surgical treatment of obesity. The patients’ BMI ranged from 35 to 54 kg/m2. Study participants completed NEO-FFI personality inventory (Costa, McCare; 1998) and the authors’ questionnaire designed to collect demographic data and anthropometric measurements. R esults: The study showed that patients with morbid obesity significantly differed from healthy individuals and somatic patients as regards the analysed measurements of the Big Five. C onclusions: The traits which were significantly distinctive in morbidly obese patients included lowered conscientiousness and increased neuroticism. The results indicate that the above pattern of personality traits may promote the development of excessive body weight.

Liking and respect are postulated as two dimensions of interpersonal attitudes. Liking-disliking is an idiosyncratic response which depends mostly on how target persons influence interests and well-being of the attitude holder and is accompanied by beliefs in their communal traits. Respect-disrespect is a socially shared response which depends mostly on the social status of target persons and is accompanied by beliefs in their agency. This Self-interest /Status Model (SSM) of differences between liking and respect was tested in two studies. It was predicted and found that respect responses (and underlying judgments of agentic traits) are socially shared to higher extent than liking responses (and underlying judgments of communal traits).

Seven genes (BF, EGF, ESR, FSHB, H2AFZ, LEP and PRLP) were studied as candidate gene influencing eleven reproduction traits (interval between litters (IBL), percent of litter (PL), number of litters (NL), number of piglets born dead (NBD), number of piglet born alive (NBA), total number born (TNB), mean of born alive (MBA), mean of born dead (MBD), mean of born total (MBT), mean of piglets at 21 days of age (M21D) and growth rate (GR) in three pig breeds (Hungarian Large White (HLW), Duroc and Pietrain) by PCR-RFLP. Based on the observed vs. expected genotypes frequencies populations across loci were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P>0.05). In case HLW breed ESR and FSHβ genes were in disequilibrium. Association study suggested that only EGF gene showed significant influence on the trait NBA and TNB. The AA genotype are preferable for sows, associated with higher NBA and TNB. The longest IBL, and the highest NL is associated with AB and AA genotype of EGF gene. IBL is significantly shorter in case of pigs with AB and AA alleles than BB alleles of PRLP genes. Selection for these SNPs could improve the reproductivity in the studied breeds.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to analyze the role of the five-factor model (FFM) of personality and self-efficacy as predictors of business performance in nascent entrepreneurs in cultural and creative industries (n = 81). The study was prospective and longitudinal – the assessment of personality preceded the start of a self-owned business by the participants – and an assessment of business performance was conducted twice: seven months and abouta year after starting the business. The results showed that the participants wereless neurotic, more extraverted, more open to experience, and more conscientious and had a stronger sense of general self-efficacy in comparison to the general population. The FFM traits were weak but significant predictors of business performance; the strongest predictive traits were extraversion, neuroticism, and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Some analyses including neuroticism and extraversion supported the hypothesized mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between personality traits and some indices of business performance. The results are discussed in the context of previous studies, including meta-analyses.
