Opis:
This note is concerned with the oscillation of third order nonlinear delay differential equations of the form (r_2(t) (r_q(t)y^\prime(t))^\prime)^\prime + p(t)y^\prime(t)+q(t)f(y(g(t))) = 0$. (*) In the papers [A.Tiryaki, M.F. Aktas, Oscillation criteria of a certain class of third order nonlinear delay differential equations with damping, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 325 (2007), 54-68] and [M.F. Aktas, A. Tiryaki, A. Zafer, Oscillation criteria for third order nonlinear-functional differential equations, Applied Math. Letters 23 (2010), 756-762], the authors established some sufficient conditions which insure that any solution of equation (*) oscillates or converges to zero, provided that the second order equation $(r_2(t)z^\prime(t))^\prime + (p(t)//r_1(t))z(t)=0$ (**) is nonoscillatory. Here, we shall improve and unify the results given in the above mentioned papers and present some new sufficient conditions which insure that any solution of equation (*) oscillates if equation (**) is nonoscillatory. We also establish results for the oscillation of equation (*) when equation (**) is oscillatory.

We consider the well-posedness and the long time behavior of third order in time linear evolution equations, general and abstract version of the Moore-Gibson-Thompson system. We find sufficient but strong conditions that guarantee the exponential decay of the system and present some illustrative examples. Then, by comparing the behavior of the resolvent of the Moore-Gibson-Thompson system with the one of the resolvent of the wave equation with a frictional interior damping, we furnish weaker conditions that guarantee exponential, polynomial or even logarithmic decay of the solution of the Moore-Gibson-Thompson system in a bounded domain of Rn, n ≥ 1.

Opis:
Oscillation criteria are obtained for nonlinear homogeneous third order differential equations of the form $y''' + q(t)y' + p(t)y^α = 0$ and y''' + q(t)y' + p(t)f(y) = 0, where p and q are real-valued continuous functions on [a,∞), f is a real-valued continuous function on (-∞, ∞) and α > 0 is a quotient of odd integers. Sign restrictions are imposed on p(t) and q(t). These results generalize some of the results obtained earlier in this direction.

Opis:
This research paper presents a higher order isogeometric laminated composite plate finite element formulation. The isogeometric formulation is based on NURBS (non-uniform rational B-splines) basis functions of varying degree. Plate kinematics is based on the third order shear deformation theory (TSDT) of Reddy in order to avoid shear locking. Free vibration and the buckling response of laminated composite plates are obtained and efficiency of the method is considered. Numerical results with different element order are presented and the obtained results are compared to analytical and conventional numerical results as well as existing isogeometric plate finite elements.

Opis:
Third order linear homogeneous differential and recurrence equations with constant coefficients are considered. We take the both equations with the same characteristic equation. We show that these equations (differential and recurrence) can have solutions with different properties concerning oscillation and boundedness. Especially the numbers of suitable types of solutions taken out from fundamental sets are presented. We give conditions under which the asymptotic properties considered are the same for the both equations.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to investigate the oscillatory and asymptotic behavior of solutions of a third-order delay difference equation. By using comparison theorems, we deduce oscillation of the difference equation from its relation to certain associated first-order delay difference equations or inequalities. Examples are given to illustrate the main results.

This paper discusses oscillatory and asymptotic properties of solutions of a class of third-order nonlinear neutral differential equations. Some new sufficient conditions for a solution of the equation to be either oscillatory or to converges to zero are presented. The results obtained can easily be extended to more general neutral differential equations as well as to neutral dynamic equations on time scales. Two examples are provided to illustrate the results.

A (p, q) graph G is said to admit higher order triangular graceful labeling if its vertices can be labeled by the integers from 0 to qth higher order triangular numbers such that the induced edge labels obtained by the absolute difference of the labels of end vertices are the first q higher order triangular numbers. A graph G which admits higher order triangular graceful labeling is called a higher order triangular graceful graph. In this paper, third order, fourth order, fifth order triangular graceful labeling are introduced and third order, fourth order, fifth order triangular graceful labeling of star graph, subdivision of star, nK_2, path, comb, bistar, coconut tree, nK_1,3 are studied.

The Laplace operator is a differential operator which is used to detect edges of objects in digital images. This paper presents the properties of the most commonly used third-order 3x3 pixels Laplace contour filters including the difference schemes used to derive them. The authors focused on the mathematical properties of the Laplace filters. The basic reasons of the differences of the properties were studied and indicated using their transfer functions and modified differential equations. The relations between the transfer function for the differential Laplace operator and its difference operators were described and presented graphically. The impact of the corner elements of the masks on the results was discussed. This is a theoretical work. The basic research conducted here refers to a few practical examples which are illustrations of the derived conclusions. We are aware that unambiguous and even categorical final statements as well as indication of areas of the results application always require numerous experiments and frequent dissemination of the results. Therefore, we present only a concise procedure of determination of the mathematical properties of the Laplace contour filters matrices. In the next paper we shall present the spectral characteristic of the fifth order filters of the Laplace type.

Starting from the random extension of the Cantor middle set in [0,1], by iteratively removing the central uniform spacing from the intervals remaining in the previous step, we define random Beta(p,1)-Cantor sets, and compute their Hausdorff dimension. Next we define a deterministic counterpart, by iteratively removing the expected value of the spacing defined by the appropriate Beta(p,1) order statistics. We investigate the reasons why the Hausdorff dimension of this deterministic fractal is greater than the Hausdorff dimension of the corresponding random fractals.
