    The article points to the topicality of the encyclical Centesimus Annus, the third social encyclical of John Paul II, from the perspective of the 30th anniversary of its publication. The author brought to the fore the prophetic character of the encyclical as an important message for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe during the transformation period after the fall of communism, emphasizing its timelessness and topicality. Centesimus Annus became the voice of the Church, which, through the very nature of its social teaching and its prophetic and critical specificity, has the right to make judgments in social matters.
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest zagadnienie aktualności trzeciej encykliki społecznej Jana Pawła II Centesimus annus z perspektywy 30. rocznicy jej powstania. Autor skoncentrował się na ukazaniu profetyzmu encykliki jako istotnego przesłania na czas transformacji dla krajów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej po upadku komunizmu, podkreślając jego ponadczasowość i aktualność. Centesimus annus była głosem Kościoła, który zgodnie z naturą własnej nauki społecznej i jej profetyczno-krytyczną specyfiką ma prawo do wydawania osądu w sprawach społecznych.

    Opis:
    In May 2015 Pope Francis published the encyclical entitled Laudato Si’ about the proper understanding of the issue of ecology. The subject is understood by the Holy Father as one that is most natural, usual and simple, but at the same time obliging everybody, rousing and engaging both in the worldly, popular and everyday sense and in the essentially religious one, which means spiritually and morally absorbing. From the whole of Pope Francis's argument presented in the encyclical it undoubtedly follows that care of the world, also the temporal one, that is ecological life and work, is both a natural and at the same time God's commandment for man, and this means: for each man, both for a believer in God as the Creator of the world, and for a non-believer, but one who is sensible at the basic level of natural law. The Pope suggests adding the theological understanding of ecology to the common one. As a result in Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si’ we have received a realistic, but at the same time mystic, evangelical approach to ecology, one in the light of Christ, with the simplicity of the truth, of love of life, also of the worldly life, and with the light of beauty – the beauty of God, man, the earth and the universe. Hence, integral ecology is – according to Pope Francis – a commandment given by God to believers and to non-believers, both to the impersonal world, and to the human, personal one. True ecology stems from the reality of creation, from the love of God and man, from man’s participation in the work of creation, and finally from the sense of self-preservation of the human being.

    The comparison between the concept of sexual and reproductive rights and the idea of gender and the Christian culture of the body with its personalist anthropology reveals their essential differences. The concept of reproductive rights is permeated with individualism, where sex identity can be freely defined, and sexual activities of individuals-provided that they stay within the boundaries of law-are not subjected to any moral norms. The main point of the disagreement between the concept of reproductive rights and the Christian culture of the body concerns the meaning of human corporeality. For the former, human body is, in a certain way, an ‘outside’ of the self-determining subject. According to the latter view, human body participates in man’s dignity as his constituent dimension. Another difference revolves around the meaning of sexual activity. Efforts to force implementation of sexual and reproductive rights, along with gender informed law and culture, are dangerous to the fundamental group unit of society-the family-based on the marriage between man and woman.

    The article discusses Pope Paul VI’s encyclicals Eccelsiam suam and Humanae vitae and their relevance for the Church teaching on moral principles concerning procreation, marital love and human sexuality. Pope Paul VI expressed his opposition to the corruption of morality and his words resonate with striking prophetic relevance. The Pope called for conversion and opening to Christ again by showing to the confused generation the joy of Christianity and Christ as the true source of happiness. His pontificate teaches us fidelity to the Gospel and to traditional Church teaching by reminding man’s call to holiness.
    Niniejszy artykuł omawia encykliki Pawła VI Eccelsiam suam i Humanae vitae i ich znaczenie w nauczaniu zasad moralnych Kościoła w odniesieniu do prokreacji, miłości małżeńskiej i seksualności człowieka. Papież Paweł VI wyraził swój sprzeciw wobec moralnego zepsucia, a jego słowa uderzają profetycznym charakterem. Nawoływał do nawrócenia i ponownego otwarcia się na Chrystusa poprzez ukazywanie zagubionemu pokoleniu radości chrześcijaństwa i Chrystusa jako źródła prawdziwej szczęśliwości. Jego pontyfikat jest lekcją wierności Ewangelii i tradycyjnemu nauczaniu Kościoła poprzez przypominanie o powołaniu człowieka do zbawienia.
