Opis:
A number of authors have looked into the problems involved in finding the most appropriate and fundamental competences and capablilities of a teacher that form the basis of his/her professionalism and are becoming more and more essential for changing attitudes towards requirements in the professional preparation and practice of a teacher. This trend has become evident since the 1990s with several overriding tendencies which can be easily identified. F. Oser’s model, which has been widely recognized across Europe, has been the main inspiration for the preparation of the Slovak approach towards teacher competences. The draft of the structure of a teacher competence profile in the Slovak Republic in accordance with European trends and documents is based on the teacher’s competence profile from the interactional model of education with the following three basic dimensions: the pupil, the teacher, and the teaching process which occurs between them. This is the basis for the teacher’s competence profile and it has now become a topic of public debate.

The author attempts to determine the specific role and tasks of the teacher in a global school and classroom. Nowadays, in a world that is growing smaller and flatter every day, the responsibility of a teacher gains particular importance. Teachers should perceive their students both as individuals and as members of heterogeneous, interdependent global community. In order to navigate the complexities of the 21st century, people need to be globally competent. The way to foster global competence at school is through cultural competence, transformational learning, and personalized education. Teachers who welcome and celebrate individual student differences in cultures, religions, languages, values and beliefs, interests and talents – simultanously create the climate of education that can support learning with others and among the others. Currently, cultural and global competences appear as teachers’ professional competences, as well as a purpose of classroom interactions.

Opis:
Systemic transformation taking place in Poland for many years now, have included all fields of the economy. It is particularly visible on the level of society education. The implemented reform of education system introduced thorough structural and curricular changes. New subjects were introduced, such as nature, information and communication technologies, which refers to civilizational achievements. A school was entrusted with accomplishing a very important task of getting young people ready to live in a knowledge-based society, because knowledge and skills account today for the greatest treasure of societies. Ambitious tasks were entrusted also to the teachers. Adaptation to development of technology and application of digital devices in teaching subjects was one of these tasks. The aim of this article is to define the influence of education transformation on improving key competence in geography teaching. Presentation of the results of the conducted research concerning level of application of new technologies in schools, diversity of curricula and teachers' approach to new technologies in geography teaching with awareness of very high informatics competence of the contemporary students was a mean to achieve this goal. Also methodical and substantial solutions improving teachers' qualifications are proposed. Significant questions arise: is e-school, development of which has been observed in the recent years, going to raise effectiveness of education? And is a contemporary teacher - follower of constructivism - applying various teaching methods going to facilitate development of particular key competence of 21st century?

The importance of music in the general development of kindergarten children implies that teachers providing education, including music education, should be equipped with elaborate musical skills that, as might be assumed, should become a vital element taken into consideration during preschool teacher interviews. Research conducted in the Silesian region over the years 2014-2015 shows that the surveyed directors of kindergartens view musical skills, in most cases, as an essential supplement to other competences of teachers, among which the ability to play a melodic instrument and vocal skills are, in their opinion, the most important musical competences. The majority of directors only review documents confirming such competences, whereas almost a quarter of the surveyed participants admit to not verifying musical competences of future kindergarten teachers; the surveyed individuals claim, most frequently, that kindergarten teachers are sufficiently prepared to play a role of musical educators for small children, and that kindergarten teachers, instead of specialist musicians, should implement the content stipulated in the core curriculum. What is more, no statistically significant differences between respondents from urban and rural environments were identified.

Opis:
Objectives of the research: The aim of the theoretical research is to elicit the meaning of improving narrative competence, particularly narrative analysis for developing teachers’ reflective skills. Research issues or problems: The research question is posed as follows: Can a narrative, narrative analysis in particular, foster development of teachers’ reflective skills, and if so, how? Research methods: The method used in the research is hermeneutic analysis, which matches the field of content narrative analysis. A short description of the context of the issue: The content analyzed in the text is descriptions of narrative, narrative competence, and narrative analysis, as well as reflective skills such as being, disclosing speaking, testing, and probing – according to concept of Joseph Raelin, to some extent. An important goal of the research is to show the significant meaning of narrative competence, especially narrative analysis, for developing reflective skills by teacher–practitioners. The relationships between narrative, narrative analysis, and improving these skills can induce the need to add another skill, such as an implicative one, that would be crucial for further personal and professional development towards achieving a higher level of self-identity. Process of argumentation: The research began the selection of an appropriate scope of terms which match one another and can achieve the aim and answer the research question. The analysis of these terms led to building the relationships between narrative, narrative competence, and reflective skills, followed by narrative analysis and reflective skills that are important for personal and professional teacher development. That resulted in some implications that may be useful in educating teachers and students and for education in general.Findings: The results show the importance of the relationship between the aspects described above. Additionally, original, result occurred in creating a new reflective skill, such as the implicative one dedicated to further self-development. Conclusions and recommendations: The hermeneutic analysis revealed a correlation between the development of a teacher’s narrative competence, particularly narrative analysis, and practicing reflective skills. However, further research is needed to bring about changes in educating both teachers and students, which demands attention be paid to the authentic reflective/narrative approach in practice. This could be reflected in core curriculum subjects in university and secondary school education.
