Opis:
Manufacturing and logistics process in conditions of the contemporary market must be multidimensional and multicriterial. Activities associated with production and logistics are closely related. Improvement of the manufacturing process and logistics areas in enterprises has a great importance and can bring a lot of benefits. Each optimization of the manufacturing and logistics proces should be analyzed, adapted to needs of the given enterprise and successively implemented. The article describes proposals to improve the manufacturing and Logistics process in researched enterprise, through identification of functional problems. In addition, indicates important possible benefits, resulting from the use of tools, systems and techniques to optimize production and logistics areas in the organization.
W warunkach współczesnego rynku proces produkcji i logistyki musi mieć charakter wielowymiarowy i wielokryterialny. Działania związane z produkcją i logistyką są ze sobą ściśle powiązane. Doskonalenie procesu produkcji i obszarów logistyki w przedsiębiorstwach ma ogromne znaczenie i może przynieść wiele korzyści. Każda optymalizacja procesu produkcji i logistyki powinna być przeanalizowana, dostosowana do potrzeb danego przedsiębiorstwa i sukcesywnie wdrażana. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia propozycje doskonalenia procesu produkcji i logistyki w badanym przedsiębiorstwie, poprzez identyfikację problemów funkcjonalnych. Ponadto wskazuje istotne możliwe do uzyskania korzyści, wynikające z zastosowania narzędzi, systemów i technik optymalizujących obszary produkcji i logistyki w organizacji.

In recent years heating in Poland has been transformed as a result of the priorities of the country's energy policy implemented within the European Union. The increase in energy security, the development of renewable energy sources and the fulfilment of legal and environmental requirements are very important. Exploitation of district heating systems should ensure reliable and safe heat supplies for industrial and municipal customers with high energy efficiency and reduction of environmental impact. The article discusses the conditions and directions of centralized heating systems development as well as technical and economic issues, which are important for the security of heat supply. The Author describes selected technological innovations used in the technical infrastructure for heat transfer and modern IT systems which are improving the management of heating systems. The article includes the results of simulation research with use of IT tools showing the impact of selected innovations on the improvement of network operation conditions. Directions of modernization of heating systems in the aspect of increasing energy efficiency and security of heat supply have also been indicted here.

The article describes the main factors which directly or indirectly influence the range and pace of IT implementation projects. It analyses the main structural elements and functional procedures of the implementation reengineering in the ECM (Enterprise Content Management) systems area, and presents the outline of managing projects execution. The main objective of this paper is to present the author's general conceptual model of the implementations of the ECM system in an organization, resulting from the preliminary literature review and extensive practical experience. Streszczenie: W artykule omawiono główne czynniki wpływające bezpośrednio lub pośrednio na zakres i tempo implementacji przedsięwzięć informatycznych, zanalizowano podstawowe elementy strukturalne i procedury funkcjonalne praktycznej reinżynierii wdrażania systemów, a także przedstawiono zarys zarządzania realizacją projektów. Słowa kluczowe: projekty informatyczne, wdrażanie systemów informatycznych, systemy klasy ECM.
W artykule omawiono główne czynniki wpływające bezpośrednio lub pośrednio na zakres i tempo implementacji przedsięwzięć informatycznych, zanalizowano podstawowe elementy strukturalne i procedury funkcjonalne praktycznej reinżynierii wdrażania systemów, a także przedstawiono zarys zarządzania realizacją projektów.

Obecnie wykorzystanie technologii informatycznych może uczynić nasze życie lepszym i łatwiejszym, a rozwój Internetu może zasadniczo zmienić sposób działalności w firmach. Podmioty świadczące usługi logistyczne widzą potrzebę zmiany tradycyjnego modelu logistycznego na model e-logistyki. Jest to konieczne w celu dostosowania się do dynamicznych zmian w świecie globalnego handlu elektronicznego. Obecna gospodarka cyfrowa jest napędzana dużą ilością informacji, nowymi narzędziami ICT i technologiami wykorzystywanymi przez wszystkich do osiągnięcia rozwoju działalności. Korzystanie z e-logistyki może zminimalizować koszty nabycia, przesyłania, odbioru i sprzedaży nie tylko towarów, ale także usług. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zdefiniowanie pojęć i określenie znaczenia wykorzystania systemów e-logistyki w biznesie na przykładzie Elektronicznej Giełdy Towarowej (EGT). W pierwszej części opracowania autorzy wyjaśniają różnice między logistyką i e-logistyką. Kolejna część pracy prezentuje aspekty i założenia dotyczące e-logistyki. Dalsza część artykułu skoncentrowana została na zbadaniu aktualnej sytuacji w zakresie wykorzystania systemów e-logistyki na przykładzie EGT, efektem czego jest analiza porównawcza wybranych elektronicznych giełd towarowych.
Nowadays, the use of Information Technologies Systems can make our life better and easier, as the incredible growth of the Internet is changing the way corporations conduct their business. Logistic service operators see the need to change the traditional logistics system into e-logistics. It is necessary to accommodate the dynamic changes in the commercial world. The current digital economy is driven by modern information and new ICT tools, new technologies used by everyone for stronger development of their activities. Using e-logistics may minimize the costs of acquisition, transmission, reception and sales. The purpose of this article is to analyze the notion and importance of using e-logistic systems in business with the example of Electronic Freight Exchange (EFX). In the first part of the paper, the authors explain the difference between logistics and e-logistics. The next part of the paper is devoted to presenting the aspects and fundamentals of e-logistics and their advantages as well. Moreover, the areas which might be improved are indicated. The further part of the paper is focused on the situation in e-logistics systems with the EFX example. In that section a comparative analysis of selected electronic freight exchanges can be found. This study brings its contribution to the understanding of the changes in logistics, in particular, in the EFX systems.

The aim of this article was to review the most used systems supporting waste management in communities of the provinces of Silesia regarding to innovativeness of the functions offered within them. On the market there can be distinguished many systems dedicated to communities, which more or less are able to meet the demands of their users. Many of them only, in a small area, supports the management process of the waste system, offering only functions related to the accounting and finance service, or only creating reports. It is difficult to find software that would allow communities a comprehensive way for efficient and effective management, and would improve communication between all entities involved in the system. To meet market realities and requirements of users, software producers need to continuously improve innovation of their products.
Celem niniejszego artykułu był przegląd najczęściej stosowanych systemów wspomagających zarządzanie gospodarką odpadami w gminach województwa śląskiego pod kątem innowacyjności oferowanych funkcji. Na rynku znajduje się wiele systemów informatycznych dedykowanych gminom, które w mniejszym lub większym stopniu są w stanie sprostać wymaganiom ich użytkowników. Wiele z nich jedynie w niewielkim obszarze wspomaga proces zarządzania systemem gospodarki odpadami, proponując jedynie funkcje związane z obsługą księgowości i finansów czy tworzeniem raportów. Trudno znaleźć oprogramowanie, które w sposób kompleksowy pozwoliłoby gminom na sprawne i skuteczne zarządzanie, a także usprawniłoby komunikację pomiędzy wszystkimi podmiotami uczestniczącymi w systemie. Aby sprostać realiom rynku i wymaganiom użytkowników, producenci oprogramowania powinni stale podnosić innowacyjność swoich produktów.

This paper presents a concept, developed and tested by the authors, of a virtualisation environment enabling the protection of aggregated data through the use of high availability (HA) of IT systems. The presented solution allows securing the central database system and virtualised server machines by using a scalable environment consisting of physical servers and disk arrays. The authors of this paper focus on ensuring the continuity of system operation and on minimising the risk of failures related to the availability of the operational data analysis system.
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia koncepcję środowiska wirtualizacyjnego umożliwiającego zabezpieczenie agregowanych danych poprzez zastosowanie wysokiej dostępności (HA) systemów informatycznych. Przedstawione rozwiązanie pozwala zabezpieczyć centralny system bazodanowy oraz zwirtualizowane maszyny serwerowe poprzez wykorzystanie skalowalnego środowiska składającego się z fizycznych serwerów oraz macierzy dyskowych. Autorzy pracy skupiają się na zapewnieniu ciągłości działania systemów oraz na minimalizacji ryzyka awarii związanych z dostępnością systemu analizy danych eksploatacyjnych.

The management of the production assets in the Polish Mining Group Inc. is geared towards achieving strategic aims through the unification of the obtained machines/devices, their practical use while maintaining them in the proper technical condition, adhering to proper maintenance-renovation procedures, reserves optimization as well as final recycling with no re-use in the production cycle. The following paper presents the functioning of the IT support in the production assets management, geared towards the integration with other areas of technical and economic activities of the Group. The modular structure of the integrated IT system makes it possible to gradually implement the successive solutions functioning within the Group as well as in the surrounding local areas, ensuring the suitability to the current needs of the organization and the system users.

The purpose of this article is to present a number of IT systems and technologies that support the solutions of the Lean Manufacturing (LM) concept. The enterprises’ pursuit to improve the efficiency of their business activities caused a revolution in the use of information systems. Contemporary organizations wanting to occupy leading positions on the market cannot do it without appropriate IT solutions that will facilitate the analysis of business processes and making the right economic decisions. Nevertheless, each company is a separate “living organism” that should be treated individually, and the information technology used should become a way to solve specific problems and support the implementation of certain improvements. This article presents a number of IT solutions that are or may become in the near future support for Lean initiatives.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie szeregu systemów i technologii informatycznych pełniących funkcję wsparcia dla rozwiązań koncepcji Lean Manufacturing (LM). Dążenie przedsiębiorstw do poprawy efektywności swojej działalności gospodarczej spowodowało rewolucję w zakresie stosowania systemów informatycznych. Współczesne organizacje, chcąc zająć czołowe pozycje na rynku, nie mogą obejść się bez odpowiednich rozwiązań informatycznych, które ułatwią analizę procesów biznesowych oraz podjęcie właściwych decyzji gospodarczych. Niemniej jednak każda firma jest odrębnym „żywym organizmem”, który powinien być potraktowany w sposób indywidualny, a zastosowana technologia informatyczna powinna stać się sposobem na rozwiązanie konkretnych problemów i wsparciem we wdrożeniu określonych usprawnień. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono rozwiązania informatyczne, które są lub też mogą stać się w najbliższym czasie wsparciem dla inicjatyw Lean.

Opis:
Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are commonly used in industries such as oil and natural gas, transportation, electric, water and wastewater, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, food and beverage, as well as discrete manufacturing (e.g., automotive, aerospace, and durable goods.) SCADA systems are generally used to control dispersed assets using centralized data acquisition and supervisory control. Originally, ICS implementations were susceptible primarily to local threats because most of their components were located in physically secure areas (i.e., ICS components were not connected to IT networks or systems). The trend toward integrating ICS systems with IT networks (e.g., efficiency and the Internet of Things) provides significantly less isolation for ICS from the outside world thus creating greater risk due to external threats. Albeit, the availability of ICS/SCADA systems is critical to assuring safety, security and profitability. Such systems form the backbone of our national cyber-physical infrastructure. Herein, we extend the concept of mean failure cost (MFC) to address quantifying availability to harmonize well with ICS security risk assessment. This new measure is based on the classic formulation of Availability combined with Mean Failure Cost (MFC). The metric offers a computational basis to estimate the availability of a system in terms of the loss that each stakeholder stands to sustain as a result of security violations or breakdowns (e.g., deliberate malicious failures).

Governments across the world are launching ambitious and expensive initiatives related to health care information systems and information systems strategies that use IT as the basis for improving the health care of patients. Computer-based hospital information systems (HISs) are expensive, e.g. a typical HIS for a large hospital is estimated to cost some $50m, i.e. 140m PLN [21]. In contrast, the benefits that result from an information system - in health care or in other business sectors - have rarely been measured [9]. The National Health Service in the UK has embarked on a huge initiative, namely The National Programme for IT in the NHS (NPfIT), costing some £12.4 billion (70bn PLN) over 10 years to 2013-2014. Hospital information systems have evolved over the last three decades. Has this evolution allowed us to gain knowledge of, and understand, the problems and obstacles of HISs and their implementation? Have we a corresponding knowledge of how to achieve success and minimise failure in HIS implementations? In this context, this paper examines the NPfIT, the problems it has experienced and the successes it has achieved, in order to extract lessons from these experiences that might benefit future information and communication technology (ICT) implementations in health care.

Opis:
Rozwój systemów informatycznych, a w szczególności ich warstwy sprzętowej powoduje, iż często posiadane przez firmę zasoby techniczne przerastają wymagania narzucane przez dostawców oprogramowania. W przypadku zastosowania rozwiązań informatycznych niewykorzystane moce obliczeniowe serwerów mogą być optymalizowane przez zastosowanie odpowiedniego oprogramowania pozwalającego na instalację wielu systemów operacyjnych na jednej maszynie oraz współdzielenie jej zasobów w obrębie wielu rozwiązań programowych. Powoduje to obniżenie kosztów serwisowania, sprzętu, prądu oraz ułatwia procesy zarządzania całym środowiskiem. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest ukazanie koncepcji wirtualizacji, jej rozwoju, typologii oraz zaprezentowanie doświadczeń dotyczących kilkuletniego zastosowania oprogramowania wspomagającego wirtualizację dla celów dydaktycznych, stosowanego Katedrze Informatyki Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Katowicach. Ostatnia część ukazuje przykład oprogramowania wspomagającego zarządzanie infrastrukturą informatyczną, opracowanego na potrzeby wspomagania dynamicznej alokacji zasobów serwera.
