This paper presents the analysis of costs reduction of Common Rail fuel injectors repairs. The task of fuel injectors is to spray and distribute fuel very precisely in combustion chamber. It has to be reliable to accomplish this task. The requirements for CI engines are low emission of toxic substances in fumes and low fuel consumption. In order to meet the rigorous standards, the Common Rail fuel injection system has been implemented, which increased fuel injection pressure and introduced multi – stage dosage. The cost of this ‘s repair is very high due to sophisticated spare parts and technology. This article describes how to lower the cost of modern fuel injectors repair.

So that during diagnose should extend tests procedure in range varie work conditions. Fuel injectors work characteristics are one of method researching in whole range work. During researches has been used Continental fuel injector.

One of the recent trends in heavy-duty engines has been the introduction of common rail injector with hydraulic amplifier (HADI − Hydraulically Amplified Diesel Injector) capable of considerable fuel pressure injection increase in reference to fuel pressure prevailing in rail of common rail fuel system. An example of a solution of this type of injectors is the two-valve CRIN4 injectors manufactured by Bosch. They allow the control of the fuel flow rate during injection process and therefore have an impact on the combustion process. In this article, advantages related to their use are described, which allow the engines with such injectors to meet the limits of the admissible content of toxic compounds in the exhaust gases defined in the EURO VI standard. An experimental study of the operation of the Bosch IV generation common rail system was performed on the Mercedes-Benz Actros. During measurement engine load, engine speed, waveforms (electric currents) controlling operation of the selected injectors, fuel pressure in the rail and the control current of high pressure pump control valve (metering unit) were registered. Interpretations of recorded waveforms were made, indicating the areas of application of the various modes operation. The use of CRIN4 injectors for the rapid reduction of fuel pressure in rail was observed, which supports the metering unit (ZME) for pressure control.

Analyse of possibility of the SB3.1 investigative diesel engine modernisation is showed in this paper. The engine is the excellent tool permitting to conduct investigative work over processes of fuel mixture production, spontaneous ignition and burning in a diesel engine with direct injection. It makes possible put in the changes of compression rate, the camshaft timing angle and the fuel injection timing angle. The obsolete system of the engine feeding, equipped with row injection's pump and injector come from the SW-680 engine is his drawback. Use of injection system type Common Rail allows solution of imperfection of this engine. That system would permit to extension of the engine SB3.1 investigative possibilities on investigation of processes limiting the emission of toxic compounds in exhaust gases and especially the soot filters and the catalytic afterburners or systems of reducing of nitrogen oxides emission. The modernization of engine SB3.1 contains the change of a high pressure pump with fuel pressure over 135 mpa and electronically controlled injector. The engine has also to be equipped in number of the control and measuring devices and the control unit to control of influence of converting gathered measuring signals on a fuel dose injected to cylinder.

Article describes the results of researches fuel injectors on the test bench with using infrared camera. During researches has been verified various fuel injectors (working order and faulty). In results inner leaks fuel injectors have increased return dosages. Few elements influence on this. It is difficult to determine which element could be uses after disassemble. Article discusses issues concerning researching electromagnetic fuel injectors. These fuel system is using in automobiles all the time. Bosch Company declined piezoelectric fuel injectors and reverted to electromagnetic. There are known Denso, Delphi and Bosch electromagnetic fuel injectors. Article describes how to diagnose and repair it. Denso and Bosch fuel injectors have almost the same construction. These objects have very similar repair technology. Despite Denso fuel injectors has not manufacturer official repair technology it is possibility to regenerate it because there are tools and many spare parts available on the market. Article discusses construction and operation presented fuel injectors. There has been shown diagnostic parameters and how to analysis it. Researches have been made in laboratory handle; to research and repair Diesel injection systems. Article describes construction, operating testing and repairing of electromagnetic fuel injectors. The aim of the article is to present the possibilities of researching and repairing electromagnetic fuel injectors. The fuel unit injector testing and repair process is carried out. The tests were conducted in a specialist laboratory where fuel injectors, fuel unit injectors and fuel injection pumps are being regenerated. The setting of the opening pressure of fuel unit injector is a very important stage because it affects the volume of injection doses. The opening pressure of fuel unit injector should amount to 28 MPa. F

The paper presents the results of experimental tests of a FIAT MultiJet 1.3 SDE 90 PS engine equipped with a common rail system, running at full load operation at rotational speeds of n = 1000 rpm, 1750 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4000 rpm and 4200 rpm, carried out on a dynamometer stand. During the tests, the engine was supplied with diesel oil and rape oil fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in the following proportions: B20 (80% diesel oil and 20% FAME), B40 (60% diesel oil and 40% FAME), B60 (40% diesel oil and 60% FAME) and B80 (20% diesel oil and 80% FAME). This paper presents an assessment of the effect of the additions of rape oil fatty acid methyl esters to diesel oil on the unit fuel consumption and the emission of the following harmful exhaust gas components: nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, particulates and carbon dioxide. The fuel consumption was measured using a AVL 730 Dynamic Fuel Consumption fuel dosimeter. The measurements of the concentrations of the above-mentioned harmful exhaust gas components were performed using a MEXA-1600 DEGR analyser manufactured by Horiba, while particulate emissions were measured with a MEXA-1230PM analyser manufactured by Horiba.

The struggle against global warming necessitates the search for new sources of energy, which limit the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Among various fuels used to supply energy nowadays, the importance of natural gas is constantly growing. This is caused by the fact that this fuel is characterised by the lowest share of coal among all fossil fuels. Because of its properties, natural gas can be used directly to power spark-ignition engines. The use of this fuel for compression-ignition engines on the other hand is limited due to the high autoignition temperature of methane. Currently, research is being conducted in numerous centres on the possibility of using fuel gases to power CI engines operating in a dual-fuel system. The present article discusses the impact of the share of CNG in the supply dose on the operation of a CI engine. An engine with the Common Rail injection system programmed for mono-fuel operation was used in the research. Based on the conducted tests it has been proved that supplying this type of engine with fuel gas considerably changes the course of the combustion process, which is caused by the fact that the gas and air mixture present in the combustion chamber starts burning now of the autoignition of the first portion of liquid fuel. The obtained test results confirm the necessity to change the injection parameters of the pilot dose of diesel fuel (the timing angle of injection and the pressure of fuel) in cases when this type of engine operates in a dual-fuel system.

The paper presents the author's own method for testing piezoelectric common rail fuel injectors, which for many years were considered non-repairable components. This was mainly due to the lack of availability of spare parts and dedicated measuring equipment, enabling full diagnostics under test bench conditions. As a result, their workshop and laboratory servicing was very limited, as effective disassembly concerned basically only the plunger and barrel assembly (needle with nozzle) for selected reference models. The situation has now improved to such an extent that an author’s own regeneration procedure has been proposed with the replacement of the most important controls and actuators. The tests were carried out on the example of Siemens VDO Continental PCR 2.3 fuel injectors from one engine, listing the most important stages of this process, including the correction of fuel dosage and returns.

The issues addressed in this paper concern the effect of pressure in the Common Rail accumulator on the engine operating parameters such as its torque, power output, rotational speed as well as its hourly and specific fuel consumption. Here, the research methods were performed by using the engine test bench strictly in accordance with the specific standards but particularly according to the requirements specified by these standards. The research station was the Fiat Multijet 1.3 JTD engine with turbocharging and direct injection, used as a power unit in the motor cars. Additionally, the experimental tests were run by using also (1) the HP-made measuring set for measurements the high pressure (up to 2,500 bars) in the Common Rail system, and (2) the CDIF/2 diagnostic interface. All relationships are presented in the form of graphs, and what is found here is the increasing linear relationship between the p rail pressure and the engine speed: with an increase in speed comes a decrease in the total injection time. The torque and its power output were a function of both the pressure in the Common Rail accumulator and the speed. It was found that the highest total engine efficiency (fuel consumption per unit) was for the rail pressure ranging from 1,000 to 1,100 bars. The findings come up for discussion about the apt choice of pressure in the rail, together with the total injection time and the turbocharger highest efficiency, for the specified speed of a car power unit.

This paper presents the analysis of costs and cost-efficiency of the repair of modern fuel injection systems in compression-ignition engines. The requirements for modern Diesel engines are low emission of toxic substances into the atmosphere and low fuel consumption. In order to meet the rigorous standards, the Common Rail fuel injection system has been implemented. By increasing fuel injection pressure to 200 MPa and introducing multi-stage dosing, engine designers have improved the process of air-fuel mixture combustion and engine ecological and economic parameters. The price for these changes is an accelerated wear of fuel injection equipment in modern CI engines. Regular fuel filter replacement and periodical cleaning of the systems would minimise the risk of damage. Unfortunately, most users do not comply with vehicle servicing times, and come to car repair shops only when a failure occurs, but then it is too late and the repair costs are high.

In this paper authors present the results of their studies on the selection of fuel dose in three-part injection system Common Rail of marine medium-speed combustion engine. The study was conducted on a special test stand, which allows the use of different pressure in the hydraulic tank and various times of injection with doses divided into three parts. Also there has been performed the measurement of single fuel dose mass. The plan of research also included the three values of the two input values (pressure in the hydraulic tank and the total time of injection) and one output - the total mass of the fuel dose. Based on the statistical analysis of measurement results there have been determined the forms of functions approximating the tested relations and have been presented the analysis of the accuracy and their measurements match. Presented polynomials of accuracy (function of researched object) allow a reasonable selection of the basic parameters of dosing for the three-part fuel injection.
W pracy autorzy prezentują wyniki własnych badań dotyczących doboru dawki w trzyczęściowym wtrysku paliwa w układzie Common Rail okrętowego średnioobrotowego silnika spalinowego. Badania przeprowadzono na specjalnym stanowisku badawczym umożliwiającym stosowanie różnych wartości ciśnienia w zasobniku hydraulicznym i różnego czasu wtrysku paliwa przy podziale dawki na trzy części. Wykonywano również pomiar masy pojedynczej dawki. Plan badań obejmował trzy wartości dwóch wielkości wejściowych (ciśnienie w zasobniku hydraulicznym i sumaryczny czas wtrysku paliwa) i jedną wyjściową – całkowitą masę dawki paliwa. Na podstawie analizy statystycznej wyników pomiarów wyznaczono postacie funkcji aproksymujących badane zależności i przedstawiono analizę miar dokładności ich dopasowania. Przedstawione wielomiany dopasowania (funkcje obiektu badań) pozwalają racjonalnie dobrać podstawowe parametry dawkowania dla trzyczęściowego wtrysku paliwa.
