Opis:
The conditions of seed movement in a string sieve set into reciprocating motion have been formulated for cereal, vetch, pea, lupine and faba bean seeds. In the analyzed string sieve, seed movement was determined by a combination of the following parameters: angular velocity of the crank, crank radius, seed size, seed’s coefficient of external friction, string diameter and angle of inclination of the separator screen. A string sieve for cleaning and sorting most farm-produced seeds was analyzed. The width of the separating groove was set at 1 mm at the beginning of the screen and 11 mm at the end of the screen, and the strings had the diameter of 4 mm. Our results indicate that seeds cannot be effectively graded in the modeled string sieve. The angular velocity of the crank exceeds the velocity which is applied to power conventional separator buckets, and it could damage the separator. A reduction in the angular velocity of the crank to the recommended level caused seeds to become jammed directly before the screening site. The above problem can be solved by propelling seeds into motion with the use of special sweeping brushes.

Opis:
Multiparticle production at high energies is described in terms of color strings stretched between the projectile and target. As string density increases, overlap among the strings leads to cluster formation. At some critical density, a macroscopic cluster appears, spanning the entire system. This marks the percolation phase transition. Data from p+p, d+Au and Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV has been analyzed using the STAR detector to obtain the percolation density parameter, eta. For 200 GeV Au+Au collisions, the value of h is found to lie above the critical percolation threshold, while for 200 GeV d+Au collisions it is below the critical value. This supports the idea of string percolation, which at high enough string density is a possible mechanism to explore the hadronic phase transition to a quark-gluon plasma.

We consider the application of multiple pattern matching (Multi AOSO on q-Grams) algorithm for approximate pattern matching. We propose the on-line approach which translates the problem from approximate pattern matching into a multiple pattern one (called partitioning into exact search). Presented solution allows relatively fast search multiple patterns in text with given k-differences(or mismatches). This paper presents comparison of solution based on MAG algorithm, and [4]. Experiments on DNA, English, Proteins and XML texts with up to k errors show that the new proposed algorithm achieves relatively good results in practical use.

The equation which describes the small vibrations of a nonhomogeneous damped string can be rewritten as an abstract Cauchy problem for the densely defined closed operator iA. We prove that the set of root vectors of the operator A forms a basis of subspaces in a certain Hilbert space H. Furthermore, we give the rate of convergence for the decomposition with respect to this basis. In the second main result we show that with additional assumptions the set of root vectors of the operator A is a Riesz basis for H.

Opis:
The conditions of the screening process in a fixed string sieve designed by the author have been formulated. The string sieve was designed for separating seeds of 5 cereal species (wheat, rye, barley, oats and triticale). The width of the separating groove was set at 1 mm at the beginning of the screen and 5 mm at the end of the screen. It has been assumed that seeds have a spheroidal shape and that their motion is initiated by positioning the string sieve at an appropriate angle. The results of a theoretical analysis revealed that at the given parameters of a string sieve, the above angle is determined only by the thickness and width of separated seeds. The sieve’s angle of inclination should be set at 45° to propel seeds into motion and at 50° to ensure the continuity of the screening process. Such a large setting angle is not recommended because it increases the sieve’s height and deteriorates the quality of the separation process. The problem can be solved by setting the separator bucket into motion and separating seeds at a small inclination angle of the string sieve.

The effects of friction were observed in electric guitar strings passing over an electric guitar saddle. The effects of changing the ratio of the diameter of the winding to the diameter of the core of the string, the angle through which the string is bent, and the length on either side of the saddle were measured. Relative tensions were deduced by plucking and measuring the frequencies of vibration of the two portions of string. Coefficients of friction consistent with the capstan equation were calculated and were found to be lower than 0.26 for wound strings (nickel plated steel windings on steel cores) and lower than 0.17 for unwound (tin plated steel) strings. The largest values of friction were associated with strings of nar rower windings and wider cores and this may be due to the uneven nature of the contact between the string and saddle for wound strings or due the surface of the windings deforming more, encouraging fresh (and therefore higher friction) metal to metal contact. It is advised to apply lubrication under the saddle to string contact point after first bringing the string up to pitch rather than before in order to prevent this fresh metal to metal contact.

This paper presents the design concept and the parameters of a new device for cleaning and-or sorting seeds and grain produced in a conventional farm. The discussed device is a string sieve where the groove between adjacent strings is minimal at the beginning of the screen and increases towards the end of the screen. The proposed sieve poses an alternative to a screen separator comprising a set of differently-sized mesh screens with longitudinal openings. In view of the average size of farm-produced seeds, the width of the separating groove should be set at 1mm at the beginning of the screen and 11 mm at the end of the screen. In sieves not designed for grading large seeds or vetch seeds, the width of the separating groove can be set at 1 mm and 5 mm, respectively.

Opis:
The effect of the rotation of a drill string on the response of a drilling riser has been studied. A governing equation for the flexural response that incorporates the effect of the drill string rotation is developed from first principles, and the resulting differential equation is found to have a variable coefficient, which is a function of the drill string rotational speed. Results simulated for the free vibration response show that the drill string rotation reduces the natural frequency and increases the amplitude of vibration of the drilling riser. The implication of these findings is that neglecting the effect of rotation of the drill string leads to under-estimation of the deflection and over-estimation of the natural frequency. Further analysis reveals that for a drilling riser of given dimensions, a drill string rotational speed exists at which the natural frequency of the drilling riser is theoretical equal to zero, and this rotational speed is the threshold rotational speed.

Fibre crafts are among the oldest technological practices of mankind. Although commonly associated with textile manufacture, twisted fibres in the form of threads have always had a wider range of use in everyday life. Strings and ropes constitute a humble but essential category of fibre products deriving from the same technology and organic matter as threads. Due to their organic nature, however, they are rarely preserved in the archaeological record, unless special environmental conditions occur. This paper explores the research potential of the imprints of threads and strings in a study focusing on the alternative uses of fibre-spun artefacts. The focus is on the Bronze Age Aegean imprints of threads and strings preserved on objects made of clay and on wall paintings recovered at Akrotiri on Thera. The technical properties of the original threads and strings are evaluated through observation of their imprints, and the fibre technology used for their production is assessed. The methodologies of spindle whorl metrology and experimental spinning are also integrated in the discussion. Ultimately, the use of threads and strings for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to textile production, is discussed.

In 1927 he published the book titled Neue Harmonielehre, in which he described the innovative harmonic systems using 1/3, 1/4, 1/6 and 1/12 part of tone. The article briefly presents Hába’s life and work and focuses on the composer’s harmonic ideas from Neue Harmonielehre. The theory of microtonality is confronted with the compositional technique through the analysis of four Hába’s string quartets: 2nd Op. 7, 11th Op. 87, 14th Op. 94 and 16th Op. 98. The analysis focuses on the aspects of microtonality: notation, vertical and horizontal use of new microtonal intervals and texture.

Drilling process of deep borehole consists of different drilling operations. Each of them can cause numerous different drilling problems especially when a borehole is performed. While drilling the most dangerous problems can occur once the drilling fluids (oil, gas or water) spontaneously flow out from the drilled formations into the borehole and then to the surface. It can also happen that the pressures in the borehole are not balanced and an influx of fluid into the borehole (a kick) will occur. If no action is taken to stop a kick once it begins, then the fluids will be pushed out of the borehole and will be flowing uncontrollably to surface (blow-out). Blow-out is prevented by closing off the well at the surface with special kind of valves (Blow-out Preventers - BOPs). When pressure control over the well is lost, swift action must be taken to avert the severe consequences. These consequences may include: — endangering of human life, — loss of rig and equipment, — negative influence on the environment, — additional costs of bringing the well under control again, — loss of reservoir production. In the case of kick or blow-out will occur in the practical use are different procedures and methods to control a borehole. These procedures and methods depend on the actual drilling operation scenario. One of them can be a tripping operation when the drill string is pulled out or run back again. In this case the drill string is open either after a break-out or before making up the drill pipes and drill collars. There is a variety of tools that can be used to prevent the formation of fluids rising up inside the drill pipes. One of this tool is a safety valve (rod preventers - BOP) to prevent the blow-out of the drill string. This manuał safety valve should be kept on the rig floor at all times. It needs to be a fuli opening ball-type valve so there is no restriction to flow. This valve is installed onto the top of the drill string if a kick occurs during a trip. The article presents the results of research into the pace of speech of children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) when compared to their peers with no such disabilities. The analysed criteria included: the number of syllables and phones used in 30 second-long utterances, the number of pauses made and their characteristics, and the percentage of the pauses within an utterance. The results of the analysis allowed for the study of the speech pace of the children as well as their general pace of speaking. We tested 5 girls and 11 boys, all of the children were intellectually disabled. The average age of the control group was 9 years and 1 month. Both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the speech were analysed. The obtained data consisted of audio recordings which were subsequently re-played multiple times in order to properly analyse the crucial phenomena occurring within the speech samples. This part of the research made use of the Audacity software (Audacity(R): Free Audio Editor and Recorder [Computer program]. Version 2.1.0 retrieved September 19th 2015 from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). The material obtained in the research through the usage of Audacity software was subsequently analysed with the use of the Shapiro-Wilk test and the Mann-Whitney test. Estimative qualitative and quantitative analyses showed differences between the groups in all of the parameters which influence the pace of speech. However, the statistical analyses did not confirm any statistically significant differences in the average pace of speech, the ratio and the percentage of pauses within the speech samples, and the average duration of all types of pauses. The formulated hypotheses for the presence of significant diffe rences in the average pace of speech of children with autistic spec trum disorder and the normative group of children have not been confirmed. No significant differences have been noted in the average pace of speech, the ratio and the percentage of pauses within the speech samples, and the average duration of all types of pauses between the two groups.
