The paper discusses results of tests performed by authors, related to the engine bearings diagnostic using vibration and stator current measurements. Vibration methods for bearing diagnostics have one disadvantage - they require the availability of the machine for sensors installation. This is the reason for seeking new methods based on motor supply current analysis. It can be assumed that each bearing defect causes radial movement between the rotor and stator of the machine. These changes generate additional stator current harmonics. The paper contains the description of an automatic measurement system, developed for the measurement of those harmonics and processing that data to obtain bearing diagnostic information. System was tested on objects with intentionally made defects in bearings, results of this test was also shown in the paper.

The paper presents a comparison of the higher harmonics in the induced voltages in the stator windings of cylindrical synchronous generator rated at 8.5 kVA under no-load conditions. The comparison is made for the generator with linear and non-linear magnetic circuit without damping cage using constant and variable field current. The calculations of the electromagnetic parameters are carried out in FEMM program. The simulation results are verified experimentally.

Issues related to numerical analyses of turbine stage stator/rotor interactions are disceussed, with special focus on the selection of grid parameters to secure proper modelling of the stator wake's dissipation. Unsteady calculations of the flow through a high-pressure turbine stage, based on 3D ORANS equations, are employed in the grid resolution analysis. Their results are compared with those obtained with other methods, both developed by the author or available in the literature. As a result, the 3D grid resolution of the order of 2000000 cells per one stator and/or one rotor passage has been determined as the necessary minimum for properly modelling the dissipation of the stator's wake on its war through the rotor's cascade, under the circumstances determined by the used CFD code. A generalization of this result is proposed.

The submitted paper deals with the increased energy efficiency of induction machines by means of the so-called combined stator winding. Two basic variants of this winding, the series and parallel ones, are shown. The suppression of higher harmonics is analysed by means of the method of space vectors and symmetrical components. It is shown that the so-called series variant of the combined winding has a better ability to suppress higher spatial harmonics. The commonly used combined winding has, however, a longer pitch and thus bigger stator resistance and greater consumption of copper. The paper presents a proposal of an adapted combined winding whose pitch is smaller than that of the used three-phase winding. This fact results in decreasing the consumption of copper conductors with preserving the energy efficiency. The results of the analysis have been verified by measurements on physical models of machines with the combined and the adapted combined windings.

In real exploitational conditions marine gasturbine engine works at different rotation speeds determined by the required parameters of ship's movement. Conversion from one rotation speed to another is related to realization of unsteady energetic processes, determined by the gasodynamic mutual influence of compressor configurations. The values of working medium flow thermodynamic parameters undergo significant changes in time. To work out the qualitative and quantitative estimation of these changes it is necessary to define the dynamic equations, describing working medium flow through the gas passage of engine. In the next step it is necessary to resolve the defined equations for disturbances of steady cooperation of compressor configurations. This paper concerns the application of mathematical modelling methods to analyzing gas-dynamic processes in marine gas turbines. The influence of geometry changes in axial compressor flow passage on kinematical air flow characteristics is presented. The elaborated mathematical model will make it possible to realize - in the future -simulative investigations of gas-dynamic processes taking place in a compressor fitted with controllable guide vanes. Individual parametric features of every engine in service are identified by using expensive experimental tests, which are conditioned by many constructional and operational limitations. The dynamic development of computer technology, enables using it for numerical simulation of changeable technical state processes.

The paper deals with the problem of influence of changes variable stator vanes axial compressor settings of gas turbine engine on work parameters of compressor and engine. Incorrect operation of change setting system of variable vanes could make unstable work of compressor and engine. This paper presents theoretical analysis of situation described above and results of own research done on real engine. When in the compressor construction there is assembled system of setting change of variable stator vanes its task is to make optimal cooperation engine units during the permanent improvement of compressor characteristic. Perturbations in the operation of this system could cause changes in work of compressor and engine similarly as in the case of changes caused by changes of rotational speed or polluted interblades ducts of compressor. The purpose of investigations, which was carried out on real engine was determination influence of incorrect operation of axial compressor inlet guide variable stator vanes control system of gas turbine engine on compressor and engine work parameters. The object of research is type DR 77 marine gas turbine engine, which is a part of power transmission system of war ship. In compressor construction configuration of this engine there are used inlet guide stator vanes which make possibilities to change the setting angle incidance (change of compressor flow duct geometry) in depend on engine load. On the base of results of experiment there were determined the mathematical equations modelling the changes of particular engine work parameters in the function of variable inlet guide stator vanes setting angle.

One of the most important problems of exploitational use of marine gas turbine engine is knowledge about direction of changes realised unsteady processes. Individual dynamical features of each exploitated engine are determined on the way of costly experimental searches. The stator winding of a hydrogenerator is often made up of coils with multiple turns in the same slot. It is therefore possible for faults to develop between adjacent turns on the same phase (turn-toturn faults). These faults cannot be detected by the stator differential protection because there is no difference between the neutral- and terminal-side currents. Split-phase protection, an overcurrent element responding to the difference between the currents in the winding parallel branches, is typically provided to detect these faults. Ideally, the split-phase element should be sensitive enough to detect a single shorted turn. Despite the fact that the current in this turn can be six to seven times the machine nominal current, the current seen by the split-phase protection can be quite small, in the order of one-twentieth of the generator full-load current. In addition, a spurious split-phase current can be measured due to current transformer (CT) errors, saturation during external faults in particular. Therefore, primary considerations in the application of split-phase protection are the method of measuring the difference in the currents between the parallel branches and the proper selection of the CT used for this purpose.

The aim of this paper is an experimental analysis of an unsteady flow field in the blade channel where the unsteadiness was generated by the rotating wheel of cylindrical rods. The measurements were performed with the use of hot-wire technique and double X-wire probe. The application of phase averaging allowed one to reproduce wake motion, which was possible through determination of velocity and turbulence intensity distributions. The role of different mechanisms of wake deformation is discussed. It was also shown that the production of turbulent kinetic energy occurs when the principal stresses within the wake interact with the mean strain.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki eksperymentalnej analizy niestacjonarnego przepływu przez kanał łopatkowy turbiny, dla którego to przypadku zaburzenia generowane były na wlocie do kanału przez wirujący wieniec prętów cylindrycznych. Pomiary zostały przeprowadzone przy wykorzystaniu dwuwłókowej sondy termoanemometrycznej typu X dla gęstej siatki pomiarowej. Zastosowanie metody uśredniania fazowego pozwoliło na odtworzenie ruchu śladu i analizę jego deformacji w przepływie przez palisadę w kolejnych chwilach czasu. W artykule podjęto dyskusję roli różnych mechanizmów odpowiedzialnych za deformację śladu, wskazując na dominującą rolę konwekcji. Wykazano, że za wzrost energii kinetycznej turbulencji w śladzie odpowiedzialna jest produkcja energii kinetycznej turbulencji będąca efektem oddziaływania naprężeń turbulentnych w śladzie z silnym gradientem prędkości w kanale międzyłopatkowym.

The electromagnetic and output performance characteristics of three (3) different types of double stator permanent magnet machines are quantitatively compared and presented in this study, in order to determine the most promising machine topology amongst the considered machine types, for potential practical applications(s). Two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA) methods are deployed in the computation of the performance metrics using ANSYS-MAXWELL software. The compared machines in this work are designated as: Machine 1, Machine 2 and Machine 3, respectively. The investigated machines have varying structural arrangements and two separate excitation sources. Machine 1 has its magnets situated in the outer stator with corresponding armature windings on both inner and outer stators. The magnets of Machine 2 are located in its inner stator while it has armature windings on both inner and outer stator parts. More so, Machine 3 is equipped with magnets in its inner and outer stators, though without armature windings on the inner stator section. The considered performance metrics include: inducedelectromotive force (induced-EMF), torque, power, demagnetization, losses and efficiency. The results show that the investigated Machine 3 has higher induced-EMF value and more sinusoidal electromotive force waveform than the other compared machines. Consequently, Machine 3 also has larger electromagnetic torque and power. Moreover, Machine 1 has the best flux-weakening potential, obtained from both the ratio of its maximum speed to base speed and the flux-weakening factor ( kp).

In this paper deep neural networks are proposed to diagnose inter-turn short-circuits of induction motor stator windings operating under the Direct Field Oriented Control method. A convolutional neural network (CNN), trained with a Stochastic Gradient Descent with Momentum method is used. This kind of deep-trained neural network allows to significantly accelerate the diagnostic process compared to the traditional methods based on the Fast Fourier Transform as well as it does not require stationary operating conditions. To assess the effectiveness of the applied CNN-based detectors, the tests were carried out for variable load conditions and different values of the supply voltage frequency. Experimental results of the proposed induction motor fault detection system are presented and discussed.

In this paper the mathematical model of the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) with a double 3-phase stator winding is analysed. Both the 3-phase windings are mutually displaced by 30 electrical degree. Special care has been sacrificed to influence of higher harmonics of induced electromotive forces (EMF) on electromagnetic torque and zero sequence voltages that may be used for sensorless control. The mathematical model has been presented in natural variables and, after transformation to symmetrical components, in a vector form. This allows, from one side, for formulating the equivalent circuit suitable for circuit oriented simulators (e.g.: Spice, SimPowerSystems of Simulink) and, from the other point of view, for analysis of higher harmonics influence on control possibilities. These considerations have been illustrated with some results of four quadrant operation obtainded due to simulation at automatic control.

The paper covers basics of the vortex model used for propeller-stator systems. The outline of the design algorithm is given and the results of its application are shown. The designed propeller-stator system was the subject of model tests run at the CTO model basin and cavitation tunnel. Stator’s influence on the delivered power required by the propeller and its revolution rate has been examined by conducting self-propulsion tests with and without stator. The tests performed in the cavitation tunnel revealed only weak tip vortex cavitation on the propeller. No cavitation was observed on the stator at the design point. A wide range of the performed tests allowed the authors to identify details of the developed theory which will require further improvement.
