Opis:
The radical rebuilding of Fabryczna Railway Station in Łódź, one of the biggest railway projects of post-1989 Poland, has for years raised a lot of controversy – as much on the planning stage as after the opening, if not more. Some are rash and superficial judgements, resulting from not considering the conditions and aims of the project, while others are invariably true. Yet other aspects of the project seem entirely absent from the public debate. One thing is certain: the station is unfinished and does not function as expected. Five years have almost passed since it opened and it’s a good time to attempt a calm critique, backed by the usage experience. For this purpose, reference was made to the original visions of the railway system and initial design concepts, and an in-situ analysis of the facility was performed. The conclusions were confronted with professional publications. As a result, one gets the impression that the object is halfway between modernism and postmodernism. On the one hand, it develops a spatial vision that properly relocates car traffic to the outskirts of the city centre, and on the other – it hinders the creation of an attractive urban space with poorly shaped frontages, rejection of greenery as an architectural material and overscaling of road infrastructure. On the one hand, it introduces the iconic motif of the entrance, while on the other, it violates the historical compositional axis. This is accompanied by many functional shortcomings, and above all, the unused potential of a large usable area. The roots of this lie in the changing concepts – both at the level of the vision of the railway system implemented by the state and of the urban layout, which is the domain of the city.
Gruntowna przebudowa łódzkiego Dworca Fabrycznego, jednej z największych inwestycji kolejowych III RP, budziła i budzi wiele kontrowersji – zarówno na etapie projektowania, jak i jeszcze bardziej po otwarciu. Część z nich to sądy pochopne i pomówienia, wynikające z nieświadomości wszystkich uwarunkowań, a część jest jak najbardziej prawdziwa. Jeszcze inne ważne aspekty inwestycji wydają się w ogóle nieobecne w publicznym dyskursie. Jedno jest pewne: obiekt, tak jak cała przebudowa węzła kolejowego, jest niedokończony, nie funkcjonuje tak, jak oczekiwano. Mija jednak sześć lat od jego otwarcia i to jest dobry czas na dokonanie obiektywnej krytyki obiektu wzbogaconej już o doświadczenie użytkowania. W tym celu posłużono się odwołaniem pierwotnych wizji systemu kolejowego i wstępnych koncepcji projektowych oraz dokonano analizy obiektu in situ. Wnioski skonfrontowano z publikacjami specjalistycznymi. W efekcie odnosi się wrażenie, że obiekt znajduje się jakby w pół drogi między modernizmem i postmodernizmem. Z jednej strony rozwija wizję przestrzenną prawidłowo relegującą ruch samochodowy na rubieże śródmieścia, a z drugiej – przeszkadza w wytworzeniu atrakcyjnej przestrzeni miejskiej źle ukształtowanymi pierzejami, odrzuceniem zieleni jako tworzywa architektonicznego i przeskalowaniem infrastruktury drogowej. Z jednej strony wprowadza ikoniczny motyw wejścia, z drugiej gwałci historyczną oś kompozycyjną. Towarzyszy temu wiele mankamentów funkcjonalnych, a przede wszystkim niewykorzystany potencjał wielkiej powierzchni użytkowej. Korzenie tego tkwią w zmieniających się koncepcjach – zarówno na szczeblu wizji systemu kolejowego realizowanego przez państwo, jak i układu urbanistycznego, stanowiącego domenę miasta.

Opis:
In order to avoid improper work of some appliances in pressure regulating stations, it is needed to heat up the gas stream before its pressure decrease. This is done by heating system, which consist of natural gas boiler, heat exchanger, pipes and the working medium that circulate in the system (describing in simple terms). Surfaces of thermally uninsulated heating system have temperature above ambient temperature, what could be the cause of heat loss. This paper presents the results of performed calculations, based on data obtained from the test rig, which has been mounted in the working pressure regulating station. Test rig has been designed in such a way, that it is possible to calculate total heat loss of the heating installation and thus determine the energy efficiency of natural gas heating process.

Opis:
The train building development coming into existence in Poland since 1842 was ruled by its own laws. Owing to its ennobling character, it was modelled on majestic patterns of recognised architecture. The expression of its form was emphasised with numerous details which with time underwent a specific transformation. After the Second World War this process was stopped. Attempts of the reconstruction of old objects and erecting new ones demonstrate significant ignorance in view of the historical and aesthetic values of train buildings. Th is translates directly into the actual impoverishment of the architectural detail on railways and breaking the natural cycle of the development of construction.

Paper covers experiment results concerning usefulness of Leica Smartstation® for detailed horizontal and verical surveying. The experimental work was carried out in the university campus Kortowo during the modernization of ASG-EUPOS permanent station (especially in the northeastern territory of Poland, in June 2011). The analysis was performed to check the performance of this system for setting the control network points in this area. Each control point coordinates were determined using RTK real time service called NAWGEO (VRS, MAC and POJ). Obtained coordinates were compared to the results of static surveys (taken as the reference coordinates) in the system PUWG “2000” and Kronsztadt’86. Analyzed coordinate differences confirmed the characteristic accuracy of the RTK GNSS techniques. Reported accuracy of measured control points in most cases are in line with GUGiK recommendations.

The increasing of gasmotocompressors (GMC) reliability, operated on the booster compressor stations, underground gas storages with significant deterioration of the park units are the actual problems. The greatest attention should be paid timely detection of conrod bearings defects for the prevention of necks crankshaft scoring. Statistics increase of late crank bearings defects shows that scheduled repairs not ensure reliable operation of GMC. Improving the reliability of GMC through the detection in time the crank bearings defects is only possible using the methods and diagnostic tools for calculating the probability of failure-free operation, equipment failure rate during its operation. Increased probability of crank bearings defects detection is possible by the determination of dependence of levels of crank bearings vibration on gasmotocompressors 10 GKN operational capacity. For efficient conducting of connecting rod vibration condition monitoring on units with different power the software was developed and methods of using the obtained models depending on the power levels of vibration were elaborated.

Reference system was adapted EVRS (European Vertical Reference System), which is based on the level of NAP (Normal Amsterdam Peil) for the spatial imaging extreme levels of the Baltic Sea. The observational data on sea levels have been converted of the selected 38 stations in each of the Baltic countries to the level of NAP (Normal Amsterdam Peil). The images of the Baltic Sea area were obtained in a uniform reference system, for the example of chosen stormy situation of 1–2 November 2006, and the spatial distribution of the maximum and no maximum sea levels that occurred during the 1960–2010 year.

Transport has always been a fundamental impulse for the development of civilization. Issues related to the regularity of operation of technical systems, in the last decade have become important issues being considered from both the point of view, as well as economics. Today the major threat in the operational reliability constitutes intensification of the machine and equipment use leading to excessive degradation. In automated manufacturing processes where the material handling operations are realized by the cranes, the safety as both devices and operating people constitute important factor. The main purpose of the article was focused on the set of issues including the material handling devices (MHD) reliability shaping problem especially presents work in progress towards development the MHD condition assessment system with using telematic approach. In the article author, special care was enclosed to MHD devices with strength human factor interaction and relatively large construction, so the overhead travelling crane was chose. The object of the statement constitutes an attempt of collecting the knowledge concerning a possibility of use modern measurement systems to monitoring crane bridge deflection. All tests and considerations were conducted on the double girder overhead travelling crane with hosting capability 1000 kg and bridge span 8000 mm.

The reconstruction of the Łódź railway node, including the construction of an underground station in the city centre, gave the possibility of profound changes in passenger service of railway and bus long-distance and regional service. As a result, a large and modern multimodal node concentrating all means of transport was created in the city centre. The new station together with the surrounding road infrastructure was opened in December 2016. The assessment of the functionality of this station is the subject of this article.
