Opis:
Emergency motor switch-on happens occasionally while operating a doublesquirrel- cage motor at full supply voltage with the rotor blocked (e.g., in coal mills). After releasing the blockage, the by now heated motor is started up again. However, the mechanical stress caused by the increased temperature poses considerable hazards to the squirrel-cage winding. This paper presents a double-cage induction motor model for analysis of thermal fields in transient operation. The thermal field for the rotor of a doublesquirrel- cage motor of soldered or cast structure, operating in the conditions described, has been calculated in the present paper using a thermal network method. Measurement results have been presented for the double-squirrel-cage winding temperature for a soldered cage construction in the blocked rotor state.

Opis:
There are many problems in practical diagnostics of high-power, squirrel-cage induction machines, operated in industrial conditions. These problems make the diagnostics a difficult matter. The problems appear already at the stage of gathering diagnostic signals. The only practically accessible signals are the currents on secondary sides of current transformers monitoring supply currents of separate machines. Due to the proximity of other conductors, carrying high currents, these signals are sometimes accompanied by heavy background noise. The next stage of the diagnostic procedure is off-line analysis of registered signals referring to investigated objects. The main problem at this stage is proper interpretation of gotten results, especially in the cases where determination of the cage state, of investigated machines, is difficult due to ambiguity of diagnostic signals. The ambiguities and doubts by taking diagnostic decision result from that the diagnostic-like signal could be generated not only by cage damage but also by slightly asymmetrically manufactured rotor cage. In such difficult cases, the many-year diagnosing experience is the indispensable precondition for proper diagnostic verdict. The present paper includes some reports on case studies encountered during practical diagnoses of high power, 6kV induction machines, operated in real industrial conditions.

Opis:
A mathematical model of a squirrel-cage induction motor with inter-turn short-circuits in stator phases is presented in this paper. In the proposed mathematical model an extent and angular localization of short-circuit faults are determined using a simple form of short-circuit coefficient matrices. The model does not require any additional motor parameters than those that are required for conventional model of healthy induction motor. Comparative results obtained through computer simulations and from a laboratory test-stand with 2.2 kW induction motor are contained in the article. The results obtained validate the proposed extended mathematical model of a squirrel-cage induction motor with inter-turn short-circuit of stator windings.

Opis:
In the paper the transients under starting process and the steady states of squirrel-cage motor (IM) and line start permanent magnet synchronous motor (LSPMSM) have been compared. The original stator of 3 kW induction motor type Sg 100L-4B, was used in both structures. In order to determine opportunities to increase energy parameters of LSPMSM the heating curves of both motors were compared. In LSPMSM the rotor with aluminum and copper cage was used. The basic operating parameters of the two structures which are characterized by identical stators were tested. Particular attention has been given to the transient under starting process. Efficiency, power factor and current in the stator windings obtained during measurements for both structures have been presented. The paper focuses on achieving a much higher output power for LSPMSM than an induction motor of the same size. The selected results of experimental tests were shown.

Equipment condition monitoring is essential to maintain the reliability of the electromechanical systems. Recently topics related to fault diagnosis have attracted significant interest, rapidly evolving this research area. This study presents a non-invasive method for online state classification of a squirrel-cage induction motor. The solution utilizes thermal imaging for non-contact analysis of thermal changes in machinery. Moreover, used convolutional neural networks (CNNs) streamline extracting relevant features from data and malfunction distinction without defining strict rules. A wide range of neural networks was evaluated to explore the possibilities of the proposed approach and their outputs were verified using model interpretability methods. Besides, the top-performing architectures were optimized and deployed on resource-constrained hardware to examine the system's performance in operating conditions. Overall, the completed tests have confirmed that the proposed approach is feasible, provides accurate results, and successfully operates even when deployed on edge devices.

The paper describes high output induction motors driving large applications of heavy starting conditions. Heavy start is characterised by long accelerating time and occures in drives of hudge inertia torque, esspecially when performed at full load. The reliable operation of the motors depends on proper design and quality of rotor's cage. The aspects of thermal behaviour and electrodynamic forces have to be considered during the design of the motor for hard working conditions. In the paper the rotor with idle bars is investigated.

Opis:
This paper deals with energetic aspects of soft starting and braking application for the squirrelcage induction motors operating in intermittent duty with constant load. Energy losses in transients of an induction motor for different laws of voltage changing as well as induction motor stator winding temperature at the end of starting process are calculated and compared with the ones during fullvoltage starting and plug braking. Energy losses calculation during induction motor soft starting and braking has been performed analytically and via the Matlab simulation models of equivalent twophase induction motor in alfa to beta coordinates. The results of both calculation methods are compared and a divergence between them is determined. Also the effect of total energy losses on the induction motor stator winding temperature at the end of the motor starting process and its allowable frequency of starting is analyzed. Analytical calculation and simulation of soft starting and braking have been performed with allow for the linear and exponential laws of the first voltage harmonic magnitude changing. The results of simulation and analytical calculations are given in the tables.

Opis:
The paper presents the computerised system for the diagnosis of the rotor bars of an induction electrical motor. The solution relies on the processing of the measured stator current and application of the Support Vector Machine as the classifier. The important point is the generation of the diagnostic features on the basis of which the SVM classifier undertakes its decision whether or not the bars are faulty. The most important problem is concerned with the generation of the diagnostic features, on the basis of which the recognition of the state of the rotor bars is done. In our approach, we use the spectral information of the stator current, limited to a strictly specified region. The selected features form the input vector applied to the single class Support Vector Machine, responsible for recognition of the fault. The results of the numerical experiments are presented and discussed in the paper.
Praca przedstawia skomputeryzowany automatyczny system diagnostyczny do wykrywania uszkodzeń prętów maszyny indukcyjnej.

Opis:
The aim of this work is to study the influence of closed loop control on diagnostic indices of both broken bar and mixed air-gap eccentricity fault indices of the squirrel cage induction motor drive. The present work is focused on the direct stator current isd signal analysis, which is independent of torque load when the induction motor is controlled by an indirect control field. The fault signatures are on the line extracted from the direct stator current signal using the discrete Fourier transformation (DFT). The formula of the measured direct stator current at both conditions is determined by the transfer function of the current loop. The obtained results show that the current loop corresponds to a low pass filter and can reduce the magnitude of diagnostic indicators which lead to wrong evaluation of the fault. Simulation and experiments were carried out in order to confirm the theoretical analysis.
