Opis:
Objective of the article: The aim of the article is to elicit and show the correlation between a spiritual teacher’s development and education seen as a spiritual journey in a pedagogical, personalistic perspective. The research question is as follows: How does the relationship between the teacher’s spiritual development and Palmer’s perception of education in spiritual perception look? Research method: To answer the research question, the method of hermeneutic content analysis seems to be appropriate, as it provides a deeper meaning of education rooted in spirituality for the teacher seen as a unity achieved in the integrative process of formation. A short description of the context of the presented issue: The contents of the article are rooted in the personalistic perspective and cover the reference to spirituality, to some extent corresponding with human spiritual development and teacher spiritual development, tightly connected with Parker J. Palmer’s concept of education perceived in the spiritual dimension. Research findings: The article elicits the meaning of spirituality in the quality of teacher development and the need to provide a space for spirituality in education, in the care of future generations. The research emphasizes that students achieving a spiritual identity on a transpersonal level can become fruitful for contemporary civilization, and further research in this light demands engagement of the broader scientific community, working in the personalistic paradigm. Conclusions and recommendations: Education lacking the space for spirituality determined by higher values does not foster the building of the wholeness of a person and can cause many problems with forming one’s identity, the core of which is a spiritual identity on the autonomous, transpersonal level. The conclusion is that the more “technical/pragmatic” approaches to education are propagated, the more problems in the functioning of future generations can appear. That is why the core curriculum in education needs changing, which should be followed by changes in teacher higher education and training.

Research objectives and problems: The holistic, integral approach to education requires the inclusion of the spiritual dimension in the educational process. While theoretical discussions in pedagogy often reference spirituality, it is typically absent or only marginally present in educational practice. The aim of this article is to highlight the necessity of incorporating spiritual education into the entire educational process for all participants. The analysis conducted here leads to the following questions: What potential does Ignatian pedagogy have in supporting the spiritual development of young people? What role does the teacher play in this process when utilizing such pedagogy? Research methods: The methods used include document analysis (source texts and studies) across various scientific disciplines (e.g., psychology, theology, pedagogy), focusing on spirituality, spiritual education as a practice of supporting spiritual development, and Ignatian pedagogy. Structure of the article: The article begins with an introduction to the concepts of spirituality and spiritual development based on existing literature. It then outlines the general principles of spiritual education through the lens of Ignatian pedagogy. Research findings and their influence on the development of pedagogical science: Ignatian pedagogy, which grew out of the spirituality of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, can effectively stimulate the spiritual development of all participants of education. This pedagogy, based on the philosophy of cura personalis (care for the person in all dimensions), the practice of Ignatian spirituality-oriented education promotes the fulfilment of humanity in both individual and social aspects. It promotes the education of individuals who are free, creative, self-reflective, and committed to serving others. Conclusions and/or recommendations: Spiritual education is crucial in nurturing a mature, independent, and thoughtful individual with a meaningful life anchored in axiological, social, and cultural commitments. This process requires cultivating attentiveness and reflectiveness from an early age, which can be instilled in students by well-prepared teachers. Therefore, teacher training programs should ensure that future educators develop these competencies.

In this article we will deal with the issue of a population’s attitude to and estimation of the geographical environment it lives in with regard to the feelings created in this population with the passing of time. We will then mention some of the physical and geographical characteristics of the study area: its geographical position, relief, climate and flora and their role on the development of the study area’s population. We will make an evaluation of the area’s infrastructure and its role on the communication and connection with the other areas. The methodology employed is that of a questionnaire. The questionnaire, the data analysis and the publication of results took us a period of one year. The results were analyzed by giving the social, political and economical reasons that break off the spiritual connection to the living place, the present situation and the tendency by giving conclusions and recommendations that we think will be of great help to the solution of such an important issue in this period of enormous changes in every aspect.

This paper presents the construction of the Scale of Spiritual Transcendence (STD), which is based on Ralph Piedmont’s conception of spiritual transcendence. Piedmont defined it as the ability to transcend a direct sense of time and place and to perceive life from a broader, more objective perspective. The obtained measure is characterized by good psychometric parameters. In the validation process (N = 1859), the relations of the Scale of Spiritual Transcendence (the global result and two main subscales) with existing measures of social approval, religiosity and spirituality, materialism, and personality traits were tested. The presented scale could be implemented in experimental and correlational studies in this field. It is designed for studies on populations above the age of 16.

There seem to be two tendencies in the Plotinian scholarship concerning spiritual method of the Enneads. First is more general and the other more specific and focused on the analysis of the text. The paper follows the second type of study and attempts to present and analyze Plotinian use of aporia as a spiritual exercise. Traditionally aporia was used as a point of departure for philosophical discussion (e.g. by Aristotle) and sometimes Plotinus follows this tradition. But at other times he uses aporia as a point of arrival – he creates a painful tension due to the fact that discursive thought is unable to know the nature of the One (or, less frequently, also Intellect). The tension becomes a sort of spiritual labor in which the contemplation is born and the tension is released. Several passages from the Enneads are analyzed to show various uses of that method.

This article presents a diversity of major psychospiritual concepts in the works of Gerald Gordon May (1940–2005), half-brother on the renowned existential psychologist Rollo May. Unlike his brother, Gerald May has not penetrated the thought-provoking mainstream psychology of religion and spiritual theology. In the present text, we attempt to indicate some possible reasons for this, while also presenting him as a unique and insightful interdisciplinary author, exceptionally linking psychology and spiritual theology whose ideas were probably too advanced to be well accepted in his time. In order to argue in favor of this thesis separately from his diagnosis of the misuse of spirituality in contemporary society, the cornerstones of May’s contemplative psychology will be presented under headings such as unitive experiences, spiritual longing, and, their fruit, spiritual surrender.
Artykuł przedstawia główne koncepcje na styku psychologii i teologii duchowości w pracach Geralda Gordona Maya (1940–2005), przyrodniego brata bardziej znanego psychologa egzystencjalnego Rollo Maya.

The goal of this study is an interpretative attempt at human emotionality, and to be more specific, its emotional form of expression in various experiences of joy and sadness, in the light of the principles underlying one of the schools of Christian spirituality, i.e. the one proposed by Igna tius of Loyola (1491-1556). According to this movement of spiritual life, which draws on the centuriesold biblical experience and Christian conception of the emotional dimension of our lives, and which also enriches it with experiences and reflections of Ignatius himself, our emotionality – not infrequently experienced as a peculiar and often incomprehensible “babble” – may in fact be construed as equally emotional and lucid “speech.” Such “speech” becomes comprehensible the moment we are able to properly “read,” that is recognize and understand the emotional experiences that we are exposed to in this sphere.

There are no greater treasures than spiritual values of the employees for their development and organizational development. Psychological capital provides a combined construct as a main contributor to the competitive advantage of organisations. The construct adds the value of positive psychological resources to the existing best measure of organisational worth, comprised of the more established constructs of social capital, human capital, and traditional physical and financial capital. The presented study examined the relationship between Spiritual Values and Psychological Capital among 100 school teachers and 100 non-teaching staff of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. A Spiritual Values Scale developed by Husain, Zehra and Jahan (in press), and a Psychological Capital Questionnaire by Luthans et al. (2007) were administered to them. The data were analyzed by means of Cronbach’s alpha and multiple regression analysis. Cronbach’s alpha for the total sample was found to be 0.947. Significant positive correlation coefficients were found between spiritual values and self-efficacy, spiritual values and hope, and spiritual values and psychological capital among males, females and non-teaching staff members. Significant positive correlations were also found between spiritual values and self-efficacy, spiritual values and hope, spiritual values and resilience, spiritual values and optimism, and spiritual values and psychological capital among university employees.

Man was created to fulfill God’s will by following Jesus Christ. St. Ignatius of Loyola (1591–1556), through his famous Spiritual Exercises, proposes a path of spiritual development in which the retreatant comes to know oneself, comes to deeply know Jesus Christ and desires to love and follow Him more in the given state of one’s life. The Spiritual Exercises contain profoundly deep and effective Rules of Discernment of Spirits and Rules for Making a Good and Reasonable Election, aiding in the discernment of God’s specific will. In the latter, St. Ignatius identifies three times, as if periods, in which a reasonable and good election can be made. The purpose of the article is to scientifically analyze the second time for election. As St. Ignatius states, this occurs “when much light and understanding from the experience of consolations and desolations and from experience in the discernment of different spirits.” In the text, I use an analytical method and demonstrate that receiving much light and understanding from God regarding His will is accomplished by properly discerning spiritual consolations and desolations and by skillfully discerning the actions of different spirits, which is to be helped by an experienced spiritual director. In conclusion, I show that the Ignatian second time of election is immensely practical and helpful for anyone desiring to discern the specific will of God in order to follow Jesus Christ in the best way possible.

The aim of the study is to present the poetry of Daniel Pastirčák, one of the most prominent spiritual poets in the contemporary Slovak literature. Through interpretation of his four book of verse, we attempt to name dominant features of his poetry. A thread of spiritual poetry can be seen since Old Slavonic literature, particularly St. Cyril’s foreword to his translation of the Gospels called Proglas. Since then, every period of literary history had active priests engaged in writing poetry, and a short survey of most important names is given in this study. We tackle general problems of writing spiritual poetry, especially the tension between its theological and poetic aspect. A good way to overcome this threatening imbalance is either the use of original imagery or particular human experience with faith as is shown in Pastirčák’s best poems. His philosophical and meditative poetry emphasizes the unity of the world, of man and nature, of earthly and divine. The speaker can see dualism in both: man and the world, combining it with the cyclical conception of time. He proves what is typical of good poetry and literature entirely: that they are able to point to spiritual values indirectly not only by their invocation. The Christian character of Pastirčák’s poetry is supported by his frequent references to the Bible, either direct quotations or paraphrases, or allusions. The diction of many of his poems, mainly in his first book of verse Tehilim, is biblical, too. We try to support our conclusions with quotations of particular poems or their extracts in English translation. The overall ambition of this study is the attempt to offer a relatively complex view upon Daniel Pastirčák as a poet, which, we hope, will contribute to the reception of spiritual poetry in Slovak literature.

Many positive behaviours of youth are related to their values. In the field of education value assessment is central. However value expression is often very ambiguous. Therefore in an attempt to measure values with more universal, global, and cross cultural perspectives, Nazam, Husain and Khan (2015) developed a spiritual values scale. The initial validation of the scale was based on item content analysis, item reliability, internal consistency, and exploration of the factorial structure of spiritual values. But values are subjected to change due to many factors. Therefore revalidation of the scale remains an important research consideration. The present study extends the initial validation of the scale by using structure equation modelling to revalidate the dimensionality and reliability of the spiritual values scale. The sample consisted of 300 adolescents. The results suggested that out of 27 items 4 items to measure spiritual values are ineffective. The scale with 23 items still remains a reliable and valid psychological tool to assess the spiritual values of adolescents.
