    Opis:
    Laughter is one of the most important paralinguistic events, and it has specific roles in human conversation. The automatic detection of laughter occurrences in human speech can aid automatic speech recognition systems as well as some paralinguistic tasks such as emotion detection. In this study we apply Deep Neural Networks (DNN) for laughter detection, as this technology is nowadays considered state-of-the-art in similar tasks like phoneme identification. We carry out our experiments using two corpora containing spontaneous speech in two languages (Hungarian and English). Also, as we find it reasonable that not all frequency regions are required for efficient laughter detection, we will perform feature selection to find the sufficient feature subset.

    In recent years the application of computer software to the learning process has been found to be an indisputably effective tool supporting the traditional teaching methods. Particular focus has been put on the application of techniques based on speech and language processing to the second language learning. Most of the commercial self-study programs, however, do not allow for introduction of an individualized learning course by the teacher and to concentrate on segmental features only. The paper discusses the use of speech technology in the training of foreign languages’ pronunciation and prosody and defines pedagogical requirements for an effective training with CAPT systems. In this context, steps taken in the development of the intelligent tutoring system AzAR3.0 (German ‘Automat for accent reduction’) in the scope of the Euronounce project (Cylwik et al., 2008) are described with the focus on creation of the linguistic content. In response to the European Union’s call for promoting less widely spoken languages, the project focuses on German as a target language for native speakers of Polish, Slovak, Czech, and Russian, and vice versa. The paper presents the design of the speech corpus for the purpose of the tutoring system and the analysis of pronunciation errors. The results of the latter provide information which is important for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) training on the one hand, and for automatic error detection and feedback generation on the other hand. In the end, Pitch Line software for implementation in the prosody visualization and training module of AzAR3.0 tutoring system is described.

    This paper is an extended version of the MIT'06 conference contribution. During the conference, many inquiries about the used techniques were performed. Hence, in the paper some parts of investigations were explained and discussed, with greater accuracy. It is shown that the computer applications can be controlled by a human voice. The computer controlling processes are available by means of utterance of isolated words, where application events with the aid of user's voice can be serviced. The voice usage can be convenient for blind or partially sighted users or for persons with limb paresis. The Microsoft application events, by means of the practicable Microsoft Windows firmware MSAA® technology can be analysed. Such technology, together with isolated word descriptors, as voice recognition system, has been presented.

    Opis:
    The article studies the dynamics of the freedom of speech change in Ukraine in the past two decades. The author analyzes the main semantic accents of the concept «the freedom of speech» in the context of contemporary public discourse, where journalistic texts serve primarily educational function. The freedom of the press is viewed by publicists as political, legal and ethical value; the freedom of expression is the vital principle of public life and fundamental category of social consciousness. Publications emphasize the importance of distinguishing between the freedom of expression and total permissiveness and stress upon the social responsibility of journalists whose professional duty is to take responsibility for the accuracy of their work.
    Artykuł poświęcono analizie dynamiki zmian w kwestii wolności słowa na Ukrainie w ciągu ostatnich dwóch dekad. Autor analizuje główne semantyczne akcenty pojęcia „wolność słowa” w kontekście współczesnego dyskursu publicznego, w którym teksty dziennikarskie służą przede wszystkim funkcji edukacyjnej. Wolność prasy jest postrzegana przez publicystów jako wartość polityczna, prawna i etyczna; wolność ekspresji jest podstawową zasadą życia publicznego i podstawową kategorią świadomości społecznej. Publikacje podkreślają wagę rozróżniania między wolnością słowa a całkowitą liberalnością i naciskami na społeczną odpowiedzialność dziennikarzy, których zawodowym obowiązkiem jest wzięcie odpowiedzialności za rzetelność ich pracy.
    Статья посвящена анализу динамики изменений в области свободы слова в Украине за последние два десятилетия. Автор анализирует основные смысловые акценты понятия «свобода слова» в контексте современного публичного дискурса, в котором публицистические тексты в первую очередь выполняют образовательную функцию. Свобода прессы воспринимается журналистами как политическая, правовая и этическая ценность; свобода выражения мнений является основным принципом общественной жизни и основной категорией общественного сознания. В публикациях подчеркивается важность проведения различия между свободой слова и тотальной либеральностью, давлением на социальную ответственность журналистов, профессиональным долгом которых является принятие ответственности за добросовестность их работы.
