This study presents the vehicle classifications existing in various documents: „The Encyclopaedia of military Technology”, The Polish Norm PN-V-01002: „Armoured Equipment. Parameters and comparative ratios. Terminology and classification”, Structure of Car Transportation of Polish Armed Forces, The Defence Equipment Classification, The Allied Research Procedures Publication AVTP 00-07 „Military Vehicles Categories” (STANAG 4357 and 4358), The Common Procurement Vocabulary, established by the European Commission) and Fixed Assets Classification. The authors of the article take note of the inaccuracies in existing classifications and point out the necessity to create new, logical error free classification. The conception presented in the article is an attempt to put this situation in order. Presented conception of classification vehicles used in the army, primarily as weapons carries, necessary combat and logistics equipment, and also as means of transport and protection of sub-units of infantry, in order to eliminate chaos in military vehicle nomenclature used in documents such us: acts, regulations, norms and instructions. The conception characterizes certain level of generalization. For further detailed division can be used criteria named in the article: general criteria and particular criteria.

The paper describes the operating conditions of multi-axial special vehicles presents the tasks and risks during the so-called peacekeeping and stabilization mission. Given are described risks of travel on the roads and unpaved roads, in towns and hilly terrain. To be able to carry out driving in difficult conditions, the main components of fighting vehicles must have a high reliability. This also applies to the burden of combat. The paper presents a method to assess the condition of the suspension, consequently, its influence on dynamic loads on the crew and the internal equipment of the vehicle, presents a mathematical model of the vehicle similar to the multi-axis wheeled armoured personnel carrier. Describes the numerical model developed on the basis of it. It concerns on performed research for the most common cases. Are examples of the results of numerical estimates of the impact on the failure of the suspension, including damage to the wheels and suspension components, on the level of dynamic loads acting on the vehicle, its equipment and people stay in it. The model vehicle is a versatile tool for analyzing the dynamics of different types of vehicles, including tracked combat vehicles and multiaxial vehicles.

Opis:
The paper focuses on modern martensitic steel (Docol 1200M) and its joint manufactured by means of welding process supported by micro-jet cooling for special vehicles’ structures. Docol 1200M is a type of material denoted as AHSS (A- advanced; H - high; S – strength; S - steel) with important material characteristics, which allows the potential to reduce the weight of the construction of transport means. The paper verifies if the use of micro-jet cooling after MAG welding process could help to maintain initial mechanical parameters of special vehicles’ components. The quality of the joining process was checked by nondestructive and destructive tests. Results from tensile tests have enabled capturing the stress-strain curve as well as mechanical parameters and comparison with data of the parent material. Fatigue properties of the weld are described in terms of the fatigue limit and fatigue diagram, presenting fatigue limit as a key mechanical parameter with respect to the application of the joint examined. Testing the fatigue strength of a new steel grade for special vehicles’ structures in the innovative MAG process at micro-jet cooling was treated as the main goal of the study.

The study discusses the issue of determining the conditions for testing the mileage of a vehicle. Lifetime tests are the crucial element of qualification tests. This type of research verifies the resistance of vehicles and elements of their on-board equipment to vibrations and shocks resulting from the interaction of uneven surface during the movement. Certain test conditions can be straightforwardly determined and verified e.g. weather conditions or a type of the road/surface. The problem appears when the tests are to be conducted in field conditions (off-road). At the set driving speed, the level and frequency structure of dynamic loads of elements of a vehicle drive system depend mainly on a surface profile and its viscoelastic conditions. Either the profile or the characteristics of ground foundations change over the time depending on various factors. The paper attempts to assess the interaction of a ground surface of selected field roads on a vehicle. The result of direct measurement of the vertical acceleration captured on a drive axle and on a vehicle’s frame above the axle was addressed. The measurement results were analyzed within the context of possible planning of vehicle test requirements with the application of the method of testing mileage under the field conditions.

In the era of the rapid development of motorization one of the most important characteristics of transport vehicles is the safety and comfort of their drivers and passengers. In particular, people driving vehicles professionally are exposed to vibrations, which may adversely affect their bodies, causing discomfort, dysfunctions, and even lesions of disease. The vibration level triggered by the system a road – a vehicle depends on the type and profile of the road surface as well as the driving speed. Vibration levels are assessed by means of characteristics and comfort comparative indexes determined by experimental methods. Attempts at assessing the comfort while driving along paved roads may be found in many publications; however, there is a lack of information on testing vehicles moving in off-road conditions, which is substantial from the point of view of military vehicle crews’ comfort. The driving comfort of crews of wheeled vehicles is subjected to examinations at the Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology.

Issues of driving stability of special-purpose vehicles result from engineering compromise between need of fulfilment of operational requirements and traction correctness of a vehicle. Especially, it concerns a motion in dynamic conditions with presence of high transverse accelerations. The paper comprises description and analysis of motion stability test results of a special-purpose two-axis vehicle with kerb mass of above 12 ton, with 4WD drive system, on a circular path drive and single line-change. One described methodology of the testing, used testing-measuring instrumentation, and distribution of the instrumentation in tested vehicle. It have been included a brief descriptions of the implemented instrumentation and method of acquisition and processing of the measurement data. One has tested a vehicle with highly located and considerably moved rearward centre of gravity. Such distribution of axle loads resulted from necessity of fulfilment of operational requirements of the vehicle. In the paper are presented test results performed for nominal and reduced with 20% tyre pressure. There were analyzed runs of lateral accelerations and axle slip angles in assumed condition of motion. One formulated general conclusions on stability characteristics for such type of vehicles.

Zasadniczym celem autorów publikacji jest przeprowadzenie analizy i dokonanie oceny podejścia do zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych. Analizy dokonano na przykładzie przewozów ponadgabarytowych w Polsce na tle barier i stymulatorów przewozu ładunków ponadnormatywnych występujących w Unii Europejskiej. Tok wywodów ma także na celu zweryfikowanie hipotezy badawczej: „Optymalizacja zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych jest możliwa dzięki kompleksowej platformie rejestracji przejazdów, aplikowania o pozwolenie na przejazd, wyznaczania trasy przejazdu, monitorowania przewoźników, a także w drodze permanentnej poprawy komunikacji pomiędzy jednostkami administracji publicznej”. W publikacji: zdefiniowano ładunki wielkogabarytowe i pojazdy nienormatywne oraz dokonano ich uproszczonej klasyfikacji; zaprezentowano miejsce przewozów wielkogabarytowych w transporcie oraz wskazano wymagania związane z poruszaniem się pojazdów nienormatywnych; scharakteryzowano podejście do zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych w Polsce; zdiagnozowano bariery oraz stymulatory rozwoju rynku przewozów ponadgabarytowych; zaproponowano modyfikacje w zakresie przewozu ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych w Polsce.
The main goal of the authors of this publication is to analyse and evaluate the approach to the management of oversize loads in special transport vehicles. The analysis was made with regard to heavy and oversized transportation in Poland against the background of barriers and stimulants for heavy and oversized transportation in the European Union. The reasoning of the arguments is also to verify the research hypothesis: "Optimization of the management of oversize loads in special transport vehicles is possible thanks to a comprehensive platform for registering such shipments, applying for a permission to operate on roads, determining the route, monitoring carriers, as well as through permanent improvement of communication between public administration units". In this publication: oversize loads and special transport vehicles were defined and roughly classified; the place of heavy and oversized transportation was presented and requirements related to the movement of special transport vehicles were indicated; the approach to managing oversize loads in special transport vehicles in Poland was characterized; barriers and stimulants for the development of heavy and oversized transportation were diagnosed; as for heavy and oversized transportation in special transport vehicles in Poland, modifications were proposed.

The position of the centre of masses affects the distribution of wheel loads and, at the same time, the stability of the vehicle in drive on bends as well as the course (intensity and efficiency) of braking. For fire engines heading for the site of emergency, these are important properties regarding performance. The paper presents a simplified factor analysis of the influence of the centre of masses position in special vehicles with fire fighting bodywork on the characteristics of steering, lateral stability and braking forces. A relation between the transfer function and the driving speed has been presented and the influence of the distance between the centre of masses from the rear axle of the vehicle on its steerability has been analysed. With the examples of given vehicles, it has been shown to what extent the mentioned indices and parameters can be changed after equipping a standard truck chassis with our bodywork system. The information contained herein may be useful for the construction departments of specialized vehicle bodywork manufacturers.

The article is devoted to the issue of the negative effect of delays in the movement of special rescue vehicles on the effectiveness of their mission. The dependence of the area of fire on the delay of the arrival of firefighters using a fire-rescue vehicle is shown. The cascading graph of route options of special vehicle movement to the place of an emergency call is given. The algorithm of the optimal route choice of the special vehicle motion with given projected delays is offered. Based on the graph theory, probability theory, and the basic principles of traffic organization, the article proposes a new way to determine the optimal route.
