Background. There are many methods how specialists can evaluate return of online marketing activities. Most of the methods out there are designed for versatile use, but each online marketing tool has its own unique specific metrics that should be taken into account when measuring the return of marketing activities. The Authors believe that the methods designed to evaluate online marketing activities should also be more specific. Hence, the Authors believe that more specific online marketing revenue determination methods should be proposed. Objectives. The aim of this paper is to propose a formula that can be used to evaluate the return of social media activities while taking into account different consumer purchase decision stages. Methodology. To achieve the aim of this paper, following research methods were used: theoretical literature analysis, expert surveys, grouping and statistical analysis methods. Data. The proposed formula was based on the data that was collected from theoretical literature analysis and expert surveys. Results. The main result of this paper was to propose a formula, which can calculate the return of social media activities while taking into account different consumer purchase decision stages. Main contribution of the paper. This paper offers a new approach to evaluating the return of social media activities, depending on which purchase decision process stage online marketing activity was meant to influence. This paper can be used as a basis for further research where social media activity revenue evaluation methods are discussed. Marketing specialists can use this paper as an example of how to evaluate the return of social media activities.

But today it has become the most important tool for human interaction, where everyone can share, exchange, comment, discuss and create information and knowledge in a collaborative way. It touches almost every aspect of human life, from learning to socialising. Today, a single click can put the world at our fingertips! Apart from official communication, Internet today facilitates socialisation through social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, all these sites make our life very easy and comfortable. This paper therefore aims to explore how social media are used in educational and social contexts.

For the media, local self-government organizations are an important source of information when the public needs to know about local matters. In turn, for local self-governments, the media is one of the most useful means of communicating with residents. Citizens’ understanding and awareness of local self-government and local issues are particularly important within decentralization resulting in the enhancement of local authorities' capacity. Under these conditions, local self-governments are becoming key communicators within their communities and are significant sources of information for local news reporting. It is evident that governments should use all available modern communication tools, including social media. The data from surveyed journalists from two countries – the Slovak Republic, where decentralization processes have already taken place, and Ukraine, which is still developing them – proves that local governments’ social presence serves as an information source to cover local issues. The survey findings show that journalists integrate local governments’ social media sourcing into their professional practices. Using local self-governments’ sites on social media as journalistic sources provides journalists with important opportunities for extending their agenda, informing and updating people, and reflecting life at the local level.

The study aimed to map the prevalence of social media disorder in secondary school youth. We used an abbreviated version of the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMD) and the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-16B). The reliability of the questionnaires used in the research, indicates that they have sufficient internal consistency. A total of 637 re-respondents participated in the study. Their ages ranged from 15 to 19 years (AM=16.63). The results of the study showed social media impairment in 11.1% of the respondents, confirming a statistically significant difference in terms of the gender of the adolescents in favour of girls, and in terms of the degree of concern about their appearance, in favour of those who are more concerned about their appearance. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference in the degree of concern about their appearance in terms of gender, was confirmed in favour of girls.

In the sketch the author raises the issue concerning the presence of a literary text in the contemporary social-media consciousness.  At the outset the author draws two poles: the elite and egalitarian one, then, she passes to analysing public discourses which took place in the last century in cultural periodicals (“Znak”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”). One of the crucial conclusions of her observations is the judgement according to which a literary masterpiece has been in the last centuries as if less a piece of art and become more a place of exchanging a thought and social discourse.

This paper attempts to identify the relationship between Social media disengagement (SMD) and Social media experience (SME), perceived anonymity (PA), perceived credibility (PC) and subjective norms (SN), individual characteristics (IC) and to identify the most widely used social media network among Gen Y and Gen Z. A quantitative survey of 800 participants of Gen Y and Gen Z of Bangalore city were the respondents. A total of 532 responses were received, and the data were analyzed using SPSS. Results reveal that there is no correlation between SMD and SME, PC, PA and SN. However, the disengagement level varies across different social media networks like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The study suggests that degree of social media activity combined with digital literacy enhances social media usage among millennials, and with improved customer engagement in social media, marketers can harness it positively to improve their product offerings and customer base. Social Media Disengagement was first studied in the Indian context and less explored compared to engagement. During the pandemic GenY and GenZ shared and cared for in the online platform, resulting in a sense of belongingness. Hence, their disengagement from social media, generates opportunities for marketers to have better connectivity.

In the recent years, the Internet has become an important source of information and also a place where tourists document their travels and share their experiences using social media. On the one hand, the activity of people on the Internet corresponds to the needs of information society and systematic digitalisation of contemporary tourism. On the other hand, the constantly broadening access to new technologies in various aspects of life is accompanied by negative phenomena like information or communication overload and digital addiction. Hence, the study of the needs of tourists in the use of social media while travelling was chosen as the objective of this paper. To achieve this objective, a focus group study was conducted. As it transpired, the opinions of the tourists were diverse, ranging from enthusiasm and interest through severe criticism.

Social media has revolutionized the way people communicate with each other, the whole world is now available on the screen of a smartphone. People who seemed too distant until yesterday are now available in seconds via a network connection. Smartphone and social media overcome the limitations of remoteness by introducing relationships between people into a completely different dimension. They were supposed to serve mainly as facilitating communication with loved ones, but with time they started to create the surrounding reality. The aim of the article is to present the issues related to the problematic use of social media. The most popular social network sites (SNS) will be presented first, along with their functions, number of users and the reasons why people use them so often. Then, issues related to problematic use of social media will be presented, such as: symptoms, questionnaire methods and consequences. Finally, the author discusses the risk factors of excessive of social media.

This article aims to examine the social media strategies employed by select Polish niche clothing brands, identifying which approaches are more effective and the factors influencing this effectiveness. Research methods: The study utilizes media content analysis and economic indicator analysis to explore the portrayal of these brands in media. Specifically, it compares the Facebook and Instagram profiles of two Polish fashion companies, Vesna and Marie Zélie. Additionally, the research incorporates netnography to analyze online consumer behavior. Results and conclusions: Facebook and Instagram emerge as primary online marketing platforms for the examined fashion brands, used for product showcasing and audience engagement. These companies initiate engagement through questions in posts and maintain dialogue by responding to comments. A comparative analysis of Vesna and Marie Zélie’s post nature and frequency indicates a more successful social media promotion strategy by Marie Zélie. Cognitive value: This article sheds light on contemporary strategies for social media promotion among companies. It uniquely analyzes the promotional tactics of niche fashion brands Marie Zélie and Vesna in social media, providing a comparative study of a successful and a less successful strategy. This comparison could guide other actors in formulating their social media advertising strategies.

Social media are not losing their popularity. Despite their long (sometimes a few years long) presence on the Internet, portals from this category are gradually strengthening their position with regard to the number of registered users. In July 2014 the biggest social media portal – Facebook – had 1,320,000,000 active accounts around the whole world. In Poland in July 2014 the number of active users of the portal reached 12,000,000. In the period from April 12 to May 25, 2014, the Department of Marketing of the Faculty of Management of University of Lodz conducted a research aimed at the assessment of activities conducted by companies in social media. The goal of the research was to reach people using social media and investigate how particular measures taken by companies in social media are assessed by them, as well as to identify which of these actions boost engagement and influence making a purchasing decision. In course of the research the method of Internet questionnaire was applied. 302 respondents took part in the survey and almost 90% of them declared that they use social media portals. The most popular social network among the respondents is Facebook. YouTube also plays a major role. This may be seen as evidence that the marketing potential of video contents published on the Internet is huge. The conducted research shows that among the biggest benefits associated with having an account on a social media portal is the possibility of fast communication, chance to find and follow friends, as well as accumulation of the most important information in one place. Over 70% of the surveyed follows well-known companies and brands in social media. Fashion brands and brands associated with the food and electronics branches are followed most often. What the respondents most often named as one of the advantages of following brands in social media is the possibility of continuously following novelties, opportunity to receive discount coupons, as well as a chance to win prizes in contests organized on brand profiles. Users also drew attention to the fact that the utilization of social media as a channel serving the purpose of solving the problems of current clients and resolving doubts of future clients. Arguments encouraging people to follow brands in social media – according to the surveyed – are among others, actually using a product, interest in the subject (branch) represented by the producer and potential intention to make a purchase of an observed product. Respondents also pointed to such factors as additional information concerning the application of a product, as well as association with their work. According to the respondents, among many activities conducted in social media the following have the biggest impact on making a purchasing decision: receiving a discount coupon, publication of information about a special offer, publication of information about novelty in an offer. The activity which, turned out to be least effective in attracting the attention of the Users are contests organized by the producers.
Media społecznościowe nadal nie tracą na swojej popularności. Pomimo swojej długiej (najczęściej już kilkuletniej) obecności w Internecie, portale z tej kategorii stopniowo umacniają swoją pozycję w odniesieniu do liczby zarejestrowanych użytkowników. W lipcu 2014 roku, największy portal social media – Facebook – mógł poszczycić się liczbą 1 320 000 000 aktywnych kont na całym świecie. W Polsce, w lipcu 2014 roku, liczba aktywnie korzystających użytkowników tego portalu wyniosła 12 000 000 osób. W okresie od 12 kwietnia do 25 maja 2014 roku, Katedra Marketingu Wydziału Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego przeprowadziła badanie mające na celu ocenę działań prowadzonych przez firmy w mediach społecznościowych. Celem badania było dotarcie do osób korzystających z mediów społecznościowych i zbadanie jak poszczególne działania prowadzone przez firmy w social media są przez nich ocenianie, a także które z tych działań zwiększają zaangażowanie i wpływają na podjęcie decyzji zakupowej. W badaniu zastosowano technikę ankiety internetowej. Wzięło w nim udział 302 respondentów, a blisko 90% deklarowało, że korzysta z portali społecznościowych. Najpopularniejszym wśród przebadanych osób portalem społecznościowym jest Facebook. Dużą rolę odgrywa również serwis YouTube, co może świadczyć o ogromnym potencjale marketingowym treści wideo zamieszczanych w Internecie. Z przeprowadzonego badania wynika że do największych korzyści związanych z posiadaniem konta w portalu społecznościowym należy zaliczyć możliwość błyskawicznej komunikacji, szansę na odnalezienie i obserwowanie znajomych oraz skumulowanie najważniejszych informacji w jednym miejscu. Ponad 70% badanych śledzi znane firmy i marki w mediach społecznościowych. Obserwowane są marki modowe, związane z branżami żywności i elektroniki. Do zalet związanych z obserwowaniem marek w social media respondenci najczęściej zaliczali możliwość bieżącego śledzenia nowości, okazję do otrzymania kuponu rabatowego, a także szansę na wygranie nagród w konkursach prowadzonych na profilach marek. Użytkownicy zwracali również uwagę wykorzystanie mediów społecznościowych jako kanału służącego rozwiązywaniu problemów obecnych klientów jak i rozwiewaniu wątpliwości tych przyszłych. Argumentami zachęcającymi do obserwowania marek w social media – według badanych – są między innymi faktyczne korzystanie z produktu, zainteresowanie tematyką (branżą) jaką reprezentuje producent oraz potencjalna chęć zakupu obserwowanego produktu. Respondenci wskazywali również na takie czynniki jak dodatkowe informacje na temat stosowania produktu, a także powiązanie z wykonywanym zawodem. Zdaniem respondentów, wśród wielu działań prowadzonych w mediach społecznościowych, największy wpływ na podjęcie decyzji zakupowej, mają: otrzymanie kuponu rabatowego, publikacja informacji o promocji, opublikowania informacji o nowości w ofercie. Najmniej przykuwającym uwagę Użytkowników działaniem okazały się organizowane przez producentów konkursy.
