The main purpose of the article is to show social support of people with disabilities from a structural perspective. This perspective shows the relationship between the structure of social networks of people with disabilities and the actions they take in difficult situations. The very level of embedding of individuals in social networks is an important factor enabling them to benefit from social support and resources that are available in social networks. Without social relationships with people who form social environments of an individual, people with disabilities cannot rely on help in overcoming difficulties. Support is not possible without the presence of others who are willing to provide it.The analysis will be based on data collected in Social Diagnosis in 2015, which will allow reconstructing the size of social networks of people with disabilities in terms of their number of interactions with family, friendsand acquaintances.

Increasing cooperation trends force firms to roll out their strategic management approaches like lean management to their intra- and interorganizational network. Regarding lean management as a people-oriented management approach we argue that a successful roll-out constitutes a learning process comprising the level of individuals (i.e. managers and employees) as one of the most important factors. In this article we aim at recommendations for realizing competitive advantages by an efficient roll-out processes focussing the individual level. Therefore we look at cooperations as social networks. Combining the accepted relational view and social exchange theory we develop a framework for realizing relational rents regarding the individual level. We argue that the individual level acts as an enabler and has the potential to be managed depending on the stage of corporation development. Summing up we suggest the constructs of exchanged resources, individual assets and relationship structures and characteristica to be approaches for an effective management of exchange-relationships.

Purpose: Gratitude is an interdisciplinary concept frequently explored in positive psychology, which recognizes gratitude as one of the seven transcendent character forces that promote well-being and life satisfaction. The purpose of the conducted research was to develop the concept of gratitude toward the organization and prepare a tool to study this phenomenon. Methods: The study was cross-sectional. Participants were 802 employees from various organizations. Results: The Gratitude Toward the Organization Scale has a good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α was 0.91). Factor analysis confirmed the two-factor structure of this tool. The dimensions of gratitude toward the organization are distinguished as: (1) gratitude as a commitment to reciprocity and (2) gratitude as a moral norm. The construct validity of this measure was confirmed. Gratitude toward the organization correlated positively with job satisfaction, affective commitment to the organization, organizational justice, and perceived organizational and supervisor support, while being negatively correlated with intent to leave the organization. Conclusions: The obtained results confirm very good psychometric properties of the Gratitude Toward the Organization Scale as a valid and reliable measure for studying the gratitude of employees, which can be successfully used by researchers in Poland.

The study deals with the questions and problems of the succession of generations concerning family enterprises, discussing the main succession issues. On a world scale most of the family businesses do not survive the first generation, thus succession has become the most important problem. This is the reason why the succession of generations has become the central issue of several research projects. In the diagnostic phase of the research the aim is to present the phases of succession of generations, the succession processes, their method and the possibility of processes especially characteristic of agricultural economics with the help of secondary data, with the application of contemporary research results and a methodological approach.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie problemu sukcesji pokoleniowej w firmach rodzinnych. Omówiono poszczególne fazy sukcesji pokoleniowej, metody i możliwości wykorzystania tego procesu na Wegrzech. Dokonano pogłębionego przeglądu literatury w zakresie analizowanego tematu. Wymienia się kilka modeli sukcesji potwierdzonych doświadczeniami w praktyce, które można dostosować do warunków węgierskich. W wyniku badań wyodrębniono i opisano cztery fazy sukcesji.

Although the social exchange relationships between employers and employees are increasingly important to the performance of safety management systems, the psychological effects of work attitudes on this relationship have been less studied. Using a sample of first-line operators and their supervisors from 188 facilities in Taiwan which had Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series 18000 (OHSAS 18000) certification, the current research conducted an empirical investigation of the influence of safety climate on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Work attitude was used to disclose the psychological effect. Research results indicated that (a) safety climate was a significant predicator of OCB, (b) the psychological effect significantly influenced social exchange relationships, and (c) job satisfaction showed a stronger mediating influence than organizational commitment due to the frequent top management turnover. Discussions and implications are also addressed.

The aim of the research was to verify the intermediary role of affective organizational commitment between organizational justice and the intention to leave an organization. In addition, it was decided to check whether taking care of the positive image of an organization mediates partly between organizational justice and affective organizational commitment. The study group comprised 802 employees. The following research tools were used: Organizational Justice Scale, Organizational Loyalty Scale, Organization Attachment Scale and Turnover Intention Scale. Affective organizational commitment fully mediated between procedural and interpersonal justice and the intention to leave, and partly between distributive justice and the desire to leave. Upholding a positive image of an organization partly mediated between all the three types of organizational justice and employees affective organizational commitment.

Resettlement programmes in riverbank areas remain an alternative solution to overcoming the problems of urban flooding, the addressing of which can also lead to reducing slums. Such programmes have many weaknesses, but even so, several countries continue to implement them. This paper will elaborate: 1) an understanding that reductions in flood risk and enhancements to environmental quality along riverbanks can be realised, without the need for resettlement, as a result of co-operation between local communities, governments and businesses; 2) the socio-economic benefits of improving the riverbank environment in Tridi Kampong, Malang City, Indonesia. This study employed qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of quantitative analysis and of interviews and direct observation indicate that collective action by the community has the greatest influence on the construction of that community’s commitment to improving the environment. Environmental improvements have resulted in significant socio-economic benefits by making the kampong a domestic and international tourism destination and drawing increased numbers of visitors to the region.

One of the salient trends in the social sciences in recent years has been economics' colonialism of other social sciences. At the outset of the present article a widespread thesis considering economics to be the "queen" of all social sciences is presented and some epistemic reasons cited on its behalf critically evaluated. The bulk of the body of the paper is devoted to an in-depth analysis of two influential theories epitomising the aformentioned paradigm: George C. Homan' theory of social exchange was the precursor to most now current rational choice approaches. To an even grater extent, the tendency toward transferring concepts and laws of economics onto the various non-economic areas of social life has been from the very outset present in the theory of economic behaviour developed by the Nobel winner, Gary Becker. Both above-mentioned approaches are grounded in the notion of economic man, which prompts a more comprehensive examination of this concept of rational utility maximiser being postulated as the underlying foundation for not only economics but also for other social sciences. The upshot of that analysis is not encouraging; neither of the components to to the notion of homo economicus can withstand critical scrutiny. More broadly, the same refers to the entire idea of economics as purportedly core or root social science from which all others should be derived or at least borrow their concepts, propositions and approaches. In the light of our critical analysis, economic or economics imperialism should be discarded once for all.

Aim/purpose – The study was based on social exchange theory and addressed the effects of firm-based organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on normative and continuance organizational commitment (OC). Multigroup behavioral differences among pharmaceutical executives were also evaluated. Design/methodology/approach – This study employed an empirical, explanatory cross-sectional study with online questionnaires administered to four hundred and one randomly selected pharmaceutical executives in Nigeria. The covariance-based structural equation modeling technique was used for testing hypotheses. Firm-based OCB domains –conscientiousness, sportsmanship, and civic virtue were regressed on OC domains of continuance, and normative. The hypothesized effects of firm-based OCB on the domains of OC were examined using Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS). Findings – The structural model had acceptable fit measures. Conscientiousness and sportsmanship behaviors were negatively related to normative OC while civic virtue had a positive significant relationship with normative OC. Multigroup comparisons based on gender, profession, and type of organization revealed significant effects on the relations between civic virtue and normative OC. Employees highly vested with enhancing and representing their company’s image, tend to be more obligated to continue and remain with the organization. The more self-directed, and less-complaining employees are, the lower the tendency to remain with the organization. The nuances of group differences among employees had an impact on examined relationships. Research implications/limitations – Human resource managers should adequately stimulate and motivate employees to be ambassadors of the organization. This is achievable by instilling a sense of ownership and loyalty in employees. Further implications are discussed. Originality/value/contribution – The study disentangled the relations between OCB and OC in the context of pharmaceutical executives in a developing country. The study highlighted the essence of group-specific differences in behavioral evaluation among pharmaceutical executives.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between benevolent leadership and employees’ organizational citizenship behavior in the context of Polish organizations. Design/methodology/approach: The data were obtained from 415 company employees. The relationship was investigated using structural equation models (SEMs). Findings: The analyses of the results showed that benevolent leadership has a positive relationship with OCB. The more benevolent the leadership, the more frequent the organizational citizenship behaviors among workers. Research limitations/implications: There are some limitations to this study. The results cannot be generalized since the sample was not selected probabilistically. It should be added that the research was conducted only in enterprises. The analyzed relationship between BL and OCB in public institutions, which are by definition established to serve the public, could also be examined. The research provided a significant contribution to the literature, particularly in the field of leadership. First, it demonstrates that benevolent leadership as a synthetic construct may be applied in a variety of cultural contexts. Secondly, the study findings support predictions derived from the social exchange theory. Benevolent leaders, and thus fair and trustworthy ones, will motivate their subordinates to emulate their positive behavior. Originality/value: The article presents a fragment of the results of research conducted for the first time in Poland on the topic of benevolent leadership.
Cel: ocena relacji między życzliwym przywództwem a postawami obywatelskimi pracowników w kontekście polskich organizacji. Metodologia: dane uzyskano od 415 pracowników firm. Zależności zbadano za pomocą modeli równań strukturalnych (SEM). Wyniki: analizy wyników wykazały, że życzliwe przywództwo ma pozytywny związek z OCB. Bardziej życzliwe przywództwo wywołuje większą częstotliwość zachowań obywatelskich wśród pracowników. Ograniczenia/implikacje badawcze: badanie ma pewne ograniczenia. Wyniki nie mogą być uogólniane, ponieważ próba nie została wybrana probabilistycznie. Należy dodać, że badania przeprowadzono tylko w przedsiębiorstwach. Można również zbadać analizowane relacje pomiędzy BL i OCB w instytucjach publicznych, które z definicji są powołane do służenia społeczeństwu. Badania wnoszą istotny wkład do literatury, zwłaszcza z zakresu przywództwa. Po pierwsze, pokazały, że życzliwe przywództwo jako konstrukt syntetyczny może być stosowany w różnych kontekstach kulturowych. Po drugie, wyniki badania potwierdzają przewidywania wywodzące się z teorii wymiany społecznej. Życzliwi liderzy, a tym samym uczciwi i godni zaufania liderzy, będą motywować swoich podwładnych do naśladowania pozytywnego zachowania. Oryginalność/wartość: w artykule zaprezentowano fragment wyników badań prowadzonych pierwszy raz w Polsce w temacie życzliwego przywództwa.

The psychological contract refers to presumed and subjective beliefs in relation to the exchange relationship, considered mainly between employees and employers. An immanent part of the psychological contract is its subjectivity and the relationship of exchange of expectations, promises or commitments of both parties to the employment relationship. The conditions in which modern organisations have to operate justify the use of the psychological contract for the analysis of employment relationships, but do not yet take into account the emerging new form of relationship at the workplace. Currently, thanks to the development of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, the role of robots in the workplace is growing. The aim of the article is to outline the framework for building the involvement of employees in technologically, socially and emotionally advanced forms of artificial intelligence. The manifestations of workers' interactions with social robots within the framework of a contractual partnership will be defined. To this end, the arguments for the possibility of concluding a psychological contract between a human and a robot based on the theory of exchange and the standard of reciprocity, which can set new directions for research in this area, are reviewed.

Managerial coaching has become a widely used human resource development strategy to improve various employee outcomes within organizations. However, existing literature lacks empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of managerial coaching and less known about how managerial coaching influences subordinate feedback orientation through the mediating effect of employees’ commitment to the supervisor. This study uses a structured questionnaire to gather data from a cross-sectional sample of 257 employees working in the banking sector of Lahore, Pakistan, with a response rate of approximately 57%. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to test the proposed hypotheses. The results reveal that managerial coaching has a positive and direct significant impact on the subordinate feedback orientation and affective supervisory commitment. Affective supervisory commitment has a positive and direct significant relationship with the subordinate feedback orientation. Affective supervisory commitment also mediates the indirect relationship between managerial coaching and subordinate feedback orientation. This research also provides implications for managers and leaders, specifically looking to improve various employee outcomes through managerial coaching in the workplace.
Coaching menedżerski stał się szeroko stosowaną strategią rozwoju zasobów ludzkich w celu poprawy wyników różnych pracowników w organizacjach. Jednak w istniejącej literaturze brakuje dowodów empirycznych dotyczących skuteczności coachingu menedżerskiego i mniej wiadomo na temat tego, jak coaching menedżerski wpływa na orientację zwrotną podwładnych poprzez mediacyjny efekt zaangażowania pracowników wobec przełożonego. W badaniu tym zastosowano ustrukturyzowany kwestionariusz w celu zebrania danych z przekrojowej próby 257 pracowników zatrudnionych w sektorze bankowym w Lahore w Pakistanie, przy wskaźniku odpowiedzi wynoszącym około 57%. Modelowanie równań strukturalnych (SEM) służy do testowania proponowanych hipotez. Wyniki pokazują, że coaching menedżerski ma pozytywny i bezpośredni znaczący wpływ na orientację zwrotną podwładnych i afektywne zaangażowanie przełożonych. Zaangażowanie w nadzór afektywny ma pozytywny i bezpośredni znaczący związek z podporządkowaną orientacją na informację zwrotną. Zaangażowanie w nadzór afektywny pośredniczy również w pośrednim związku między coachingiem menedżerskim a orientacją zwrotną podwładnych. Badania te dostarczają również implikacji dla menedżerów i liderów, w szczególności chcących poprawić wyniki różnych pracowników poprzez coaching menedżerski w miejscu pracy.

Both in theory and practice, it is emphasised that engaging in CSR actions brings many benefits to companies. One of the commonly listed advantages is more trust from investors, which enables the achievement of superior returns from securities issued by socially responsible firms. The paper endeavours to investigate whether this benefit can be also noticed among businesses in the Polish index of socially responsible companies RESPECT. The study involves firms included in the RESPECT index from its inception (November 2011) to the end of 2017. The authors compared the RESPECT index with selected Polish market indices between 2009 and 2017. Empirical studies, based on an analysis of returns, risk, dividend yields, and shareholder structure, facilitated the assessment of the attractiveness of investments in the shares of socially responsible businesses against the background of other firms quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

In order to understand justice adequately, it is important to regard it as personal responsibility, deeply related to attitudes of solidarity and recognition. There is an attempt to fuse moral and material grounds of social existence in order to overcome social injustice. Freedom and justice are rooted in the living world and are based on formal norms and procedures of morality and law. This gives us methodological grounds for understanding Höffe’s philosophy of political justice, which regards freedom and justice as the main conditions of human existence.

Opis:
Two research questions are examined in this study with a sample of 168 passive Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The first one asks whether a high Environmental, Social and Governance Responsibility (ESG) rating induces investors to allocate more money in an ETF. The empirical findings indicate that the level of assets is not affected by the ESG rating whatsoever, but it is affected by factors such as the historical performance, the expense ratio and the age of each fund. The second question raised concerns the relationship between the performance of an ETF and its ESG rating. The hypothesis examined is that the higher the ESG rating of an ETF is, the higher the return of the ETF should be. The results do not confirm this hypothesis. Not surprisingly, to a large extent, the performance of ETFs is driven by the return of the tracking indexes. To a lesser degree, expense ratio bears a negative impact on ETFs’ performance.
