Opis:
The purpose of this comparative study is to explore the differences in the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) between micro versus small and medium enterprises (SMEs). We have selected three dimensions of EO (proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy) for our analysis. We have analyzed the data collected from 1141 respondents during the period of 2015 from 14 regions of the Czech Republic, which consists of 740 micro firms and 401 small and medium firms. Empirical results of our paper show significant differences between micro versus small and medium enterprises in terms of proactiveness and autonomy. However, we can only partially confirm that micro firms are statistically different from the SMEs in terms of competitive aggressiveness. Thus, our paper enables better understanding of the EO from the firm size perspective, when they have different levels of resources.

The sector of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) is an important part of the insurance market. The growth of the economy and the changes occurring in Poland are the reasons for some changes in the behavior of entrepreneurs on the insurance market. The Authors of this article present the results of an annual survey carried out between 2010-2012 on a representative group of small and medium-sized enterprises. The data obtained during the surveys concentrates on entrepreneurs awareness of insurance and their opinions and behavior on the insurance market. Since the surveys are carried out in regular intervals it is possible to define the directions of changes in the usage of insurance products by small and medium-size enterprises.

Corresponding author: Daria Motała Received: 24 January 2018 Abstract Accepted: 12 June 2018 In small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the ways of operating are dependent on the specific nature of their business activity, while management methods are often used intuitively. The paper shows that specialization, defined as offering products to companies from one or from two to four industries, is of great importance among SMEs in the gas sector. The analysis of the applied management methods allows us to conclude that the most important ones are those related to human capital.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of SMEs on job creation in the WB6 countries (North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Serbia). During the last two decades, the countries in the Western Balkans region have faced different economic challenges, including employment-related issues and the question of who is in fact the creator of new jobs in this region. The paper employs explanatory methodology, through analysis of the statistical data collected in the Enterprise Survey conducted by the World Bank Group. The data analyzed covers three periods, i.e., year 1 (2009), year 2 (2013), year 3 (2019). The surveys were administered to a representative sample of 5358 firms in the non-agricultural, formal, private sectors, including small, medium and large enterprises. The paper concludes that the most widespread type of business activity in the Wester Balkan countries are SMEs, which tend to employ more than large enterprises, with an average share of 45%-77%, by which they contribute more to new job creation, compared to large enterprises, and are indeed the ones reducing job scarcity and exhibiting a smaller share in job shrinkage. The implications arising from the paper are twofold, i.e., they can inspire both the academic and researcher circles to analyze even further the impact of SMEs, by including additional measuring indicators as well the policy makers to revise the policy of assisting SMEs in any means possible. The paper fills the gap in the existing literature dealing with the impact of SMEs on job creation in the WB region. The relevance of this research stands in fact that the study addresses the impact and relevance of SMEs’ job creation in countries known for their long transition period.

Opis:
The focus of this paper is to analyze knowledge sharing processes in small and medium enterprises through a knowledge management perspective in order to further the understanding what tools small and medium enterprises operating in the Polish market use to share knowledge. Modern IT tools are used by only 30% of small and medium enterprises. The most often used tool is email, as confirmed by 88% of respondents. Knowledge sharing processes are vital to knowledge management initiatives of companies that operate in a changing environment and depend on innovation to gain a competitive advantage. Previous research on knowledge management in small and medium enterprises has shown many differences compared to larger firms. SMEs tend to place more emphasis on the management of tacit knowledge than larger firms, and communication channels in SMEs are more likely to be between firms, rather than internal to the organization. Therefore in the following study, a thorough investigation of tools for knowledge sharing is presented. This research attempts to fulfill the knowledge sharing processes gap between small and medium enterprises in the Polish context where traditionally large firms are mainly investigated

The COVID-19 crisis hit the economy hard, it is a global situation of declining activity due to a highly contagious disease which has pushed the world to the brink of a deeper recession than ever. Small and medium-sized enter-prises constitute 92% of the Moroccan economic fabric, they are among the organizations most seriously affected by the current pandemic. This paper examines the problems that exist before and during this crisis, in order to raise major challenges and choose the ideal approach that will strengthen the competitiveness of these compa-nies. the analysis is based on secondary data and the literature to demonstrate the different constraints of these companies and to show the importance of lean manufacturing as the guarantor of industrial performance. the main question is how the alignment of Lean principals goes well with the desired improvement and with the constraints posed by this crisis, the primary objective of Lean is to provide the means to succeed and accelerate competitiveness. Finally, these circumstances can be a real opportunity to assist Small and Medium Moroccan companies to integrate the methods they need, and “Lean approach” is one of the best performance solutions to adopt in a post COVID-19.

Business models and business model change have drawn increasing attention from both researchers and practitioners across various disciplines, including the domain of entrepreneurship. However, even though the importance of business model innovation as a driver of firm performance has been widely acknowledged, empirical studies explaining the business model change remain limited. This study contributes to prior research by examining the effects of effectual and causation-based decisionmaking logics on the degree of business model change in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland. The findings of hierarchical regression analysis show that both causation and effectuation-based logics have positive effects on business model change, thereby highlighting the need for both strategizing and seizing of opportunities in business model development.

As a result of economic transformation, dynamic development of entrepreneurship took place. It effected in over 2 million small and medium-sized enterprises, that currently operate. The SME sector (micro, small and medium companies) comprises the vast majority of companies in Poland, namely 99.8%. The smallest entities are obviously the most numerous ones - 96% are micro-companies (1.84 million). The share of small companies in the structure of Polish companies is 3.0% (56.7 thousand), whereas for medium companies it is 0.8% (15.6 thousand), and for large companies it is only 0.2% (3.4 thousand). Condition and development prospects for small and medium companies and other participants of economic life generally depend on macroeconomic conditions. Therefore, the basic condition for long-term development of the small and medium-sized company sector should be recognized as stable macroeconomic policy held by the state, ensuring long-term economic balance, simultaneously leading to gradual reduction of tax and interest rates.

Research background: The research examines the impact of emotional intelligence and ethics on knowledge sharing within organizations. It examines the impact of emotional intelligence (EQ) on the ethical behavior of the individual. The focus is on the individuals working in the SME sector. A questionnaire survey was considered the most appropriate technique to conduct the research. The study is based on 1162 responses, collected from three countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia). Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to examine the relationship between knowledge sharing, ethics and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, nationality, gender, education, and the age of the respondents influencing EQ are also examined. The additional goal is to explore the factors that influence employee behavior. Methods: We identified four hypotheses. To test these hypotheses, we used variance analysis and logistic regression. The AES scale was chosen to assess EQ, which consisted of 33 items. The results obtained are compared with the opinion of SME owners resulting from structured interviews. Findings & value added: About 20% of enterprises are not using any motivation tool to initiate knowledge sharing of their employees. The most common (47.2%) reason for silencing knowledge - the lack of appreciation - did not appear among the answer of company owners. According to the employee perceptions, gender has impact on the level of emotional intelligence, while nationality, education and age group have no impact on the EQ. SME owners do not address much attention to gender. The occurrence of unethical behavior does not depend on the size of the enterprise. According to employee opinion, the EQ has positive impact on knowledge sharing, while it is not affected by ethics. The majority of owners also agreed with the positive impact of EQ. The attitude of employees and owners differ in different aspects. The results have shown that gender plays an influential role in EQ. The research of this complex problem laid down the empirical foundations for the V4 countries.

One of more important issues of every distribution centre, i.e. portions of deliveries smaller than truck capacity for particular consumers, is also discussed. This problem was formulated for the first time in dairy industry, therefore, it was called milk runs. Moreover, the authors of this paper presented the outcome analysis of survey carried out among construction engineers and managers. This study aimed at determining organizational principles for logistic centre working with CSC framework. The mathematical model depicting milk runs deliveries with overtime consideration, done for many construction sites within a distribution centre is presented hereunder. This model may be potentially used to optimize distribution centres working within cluster supply chain framework.
