Opis:
The core of the presented problem is to numerically and experimentally determine, or to indicate, the values of the optimum pressure and liquid velocity values appearing near the cells, of micro-bearing cooperating surfaces, and to find ways of controlling the friction forces between particles of the liquid and the cell of the micro-bearing cooperating bodies in the thin boundary layer. Investigations of the physical and strength features are expected to be performed for various hinds of micro-bearing superficial layer and for efficient and damages micro-bearings. In order to begin treating the surface structure of a superficial layer on the cooperating micro-bearing surfaces it is absolutely necessary to have at one's disposal the proper model of a liquid flow in the thin layer, and to obtain the proper values of friction forces. During presented research are realized the following tasks: 1.  The methodology of analytical and numerical efforts to obtain characteristics on the micro- and nano- level of pressure, liquid velocity and friction forces, 2.          The methodology of experimental efforts on the nano- level to measure thin layer lubricant properties between cooperating micro-bearing surfaces. 3.          The methodology of experimental research on the micro- and macro -level to measure cooperating surfaces in micro-bearing

Opis:
There is shown the construction of an elaborated test stand for the test research of sliding friction associations. The following properties of tested friction associations are described: type (chemical composition) and hardening of applied materials, as well as the results of the analysis of topography of their collaborating surfaces (base material and then after creating grease microcontainers in it). The methodology and the range of performed researches are described. The researches were conducted using the accelerometer A0760GP and the industrial measurement device Emerson CSI 2130. On the basis of recorded vibration signals, their amplitude spectra were determined. These spectra were being compared and analysed in reference to the possibilities of application of measurements of vibration signals to indication of the process of association wear. It was found that the process of wear of the tested sliding association without lubrication from grease microcontainers is visible as the change of form of vibration signals recorded for this association as even over-a-dozen-fold changes in the value of amplitudes of some special harmonic components of those signals, especially high-frequency components within the analysed range of frequencies. It was also found that the application of the grease microcontainers on the surface on which rollers slide (not roll) allowed to acquire a significant reduction of the process of wear of the tested slide association, showed by the slower pace of growth of the value of all harmonic components, especially high-frequency components within the analysed range of frequencies. At the end there were provided directions of further researches.

Opis:
This research work is part of a broader comprehensive issue, which is the analysis of flow and operating parameters of journal slide bearings lubricated with ferro-oil. In this article, the author presents only the main assumptions and essential transformations of the analytical and numerical model for determining the pressure distributions in the gap of a slide journal bearing lubricated with ferro-oil. It is cardinal that the rheological and magnetic values of ferro-oil parameters adopted in numerical calculations are based on the results of actual values obtained in the author’s earlier research work. There are presented the pressure distributions by abovementioned method in the article for cases of bearings lubricated with ferro-oils with different concentration of magnetic particles. The obtained results are shown in the form of a set of four complementary characteristics of the dimensionless pressure distributions. First and main of them are the calculations for classical Newtonian lubrication but they take into account the influence of the magnetic field on the distributions. The next of the presented characteristics are so-called "corrections" of pressure distribution values, taking into account as follows: effects of changes in ferro-oil viscosity related to temperature changes, impacts of ferro-oil viscosity changes related to pressure changes and the effect of non-oil properties of the lubricant. The article includes a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the obtained results as well as observations and conclusions are presented in it.

HDD slide micro- bearings
hyperbolic journal shapes
Opis:
The aim of the presented paper is presenting the shapes of HDD micro-bearing journal, which have influence on the enhancement of memory capacity. Moreover the asymmetrically grooved lateral surfaces of journal bearings generate the asymmetric pressure distribution, which leads to concentric rotation and eccentricity of a rotor. Most of the stiffness coefficient due to asymmetric grooves and hyperbolic shapes of lateral journal surfaces are bigger than those of the conventional cylindrical micro-bearings without grooves. The damping coefficients and friction torque due to asymmetric grooves and hyperbolic shapes of lateral journal surfaces are slightly bigger than those of the conventional cylindrical micro-bearings without grooves. The asymmetric grooves of hyperbolic micro journal bearings may have advantages in terms of small whirls radius and large dynamic coefficients occurring during the bearing exploitation. The idea of seeking of the slide micro-bearings with optimum of the capacity memory was implied from the author's investigation of human joints, which fulfil the role of intelligent bio-bearings. This paper investigates the dynamic behaviour of HDD micro-bearings with hyperbolic journal lateral shapes, by solving the proper Reynolds equation and the equation of a motion of a HDD spindle system. This paper presents the friction forces calculation in hydrodynamic HDD micro bearing lubrication with hyperbolic shapes of journals.

Opis:
Slope stability analysis is one of the most important factors in designing open pit mines. Therefore an optimal slope design that supports both aspects of economy and safety is very significant. There are many different methods in slope stability analysis including empirical, limit equilibrium, block theory, numerical, and probabilistic methods. In this study, to analyze the overall slope stability of southern wall of Chadormalu iron open pit mine three numerical, limit equilibrium and probabilistic methods have been used. Software and methods that is used for analytical investigation in this study are FLAC software for numerical analysis, SLIDE software and circuit failure chart for limit equilibrium analysis and qualitative fault tree and semi-quantitative risk matrix for probabilistic analysis. The results of all above mentioned methods, was a circular failure occurrence in Metasomatite rock zone between 1405 to 1525 m levels. The main factors of failure occurrence in this range were heavily jointing and existing of faults. Safety factors resulted from numerical method; Circular chart method and SLIDE software are 1.16, 1.25 and 1.27 respectively. Regarding instability and safety factors in Metasomatite rock zone, in order to stabilize the given zone, some considerations such as bench angle and height reduction should be planned. In results of risk matrix method this zone was mentioned too as a high risk zone that numerical and limit equilibrium methods confirmed this.

Opis:
The paper presents preliminary studies of a slide bearing operation by using an acoustic emission. These studies were designed to test the usability of this method for the diagnosis and monitoring of bearings in marine drive system (in particular, stern tube bearing). This paper proposes a method of testing the operating status of the slide bearing using acoustic emission. It discusses the research station, where the study was conducted. The authors paid special attention to the impact of rotation speed of the shaft journal bearing sliding to change some parameters of the acoustic emission signal. The gathered results were analysed and it was evaluated how the rotational speed of the shaft journal affects the individual signal parameters of acoustic emission. Additionally, the sensitivity of the method was evaluated. The article describes: the basics of testing with using the acoustic emission, parameters of the acoustic signal (the acoustic emission burst count, arrival time, duration time, signal amplitude, signal energy and RMS) and the equipment necessary for measurements by using this method. This method, unlike the ultrasonic testing detects only the active wave source, and it is very sensitive to detect changes in the moment when the installation is operating under load. It proposes to use the acoustic emission method to study operational conditions of a slide bearing. Slide bearings are used in many constructions of mechanisms, machines and equipment. They are a strategic element of their design and their improper work leads to the machine damage in a very short period of time, which automatically excludes it from further exploitation. For this reason, the correct assessment of the technical condition of slide bearing and knowledge of the current operating conditions of the slide bearing are extremely important (particularly in the case of bearings in marine propulsion system).

In the presented paper, kinematic characteristics of movable parts of investigated pistols have been experimentally determined with application of high speed camera and appropriate software TEMA motion. Results of measurements can be useful in validation of various theoretical models and can reveal the influence of some technical solutions on parameters of motion of selected parts. Obtained curves presenting dependence of slide velocity versus time, allowed for rough estimation of average value of interaction force between slide and frame of the investigated construction. The results of study highlights advantage of HK USP pistol design. The achieved results are from reduction of the value of the mentioned interaction force (approximately 50%) due to elongation of the most intensive phase of slide motion damping process.

This paper shows results of numerical solutions the modified Reynolds equations for laminar unsteady oil flow in slide journal bearing gap. Laminar unsteady oil flow is performed during periodic and unperiodic perturbations of bearing load or is caused by the changes of gap height in time. Above perturbations occur mostly during the starting and stopping of machine. During modelling crossbar bearing operations in combustion engines, bearing movement perturbations from engine vertical vibrations causes velocity flow perturbations of lubricating oil on the bearing race and on the bearing slider in the circumferential direction. This solution example applies to isothermal bearing model with infinity length. Lubricating oil used in this model has Newtonian properties and constant dynamic viscosity. Perturbations connected with unsteady lubricating oil velocity in the circumferential direction on the slide bearing and on the slider of bearing were taken into consideration. Results are presented in the dimensionless hydrodynamic pressure and velocity distribution diagrams. Received solutions were compared with the solution received by the stationary lubrication flow in the slide journal bearing, which were made with the same parameter assumption by constant dynamic oil viscosity. Isothermal bearing model is similar to friction node model by steady-state heat load conditions.

Opis:
During the operation of a slide bearing, the position of its shaft or sleeve varies due to many factors, such as vibrations, load changes, changes in the lubricating viscosity. The vibrations or varying load can cause, that the position of the bearing shaft, measured along its axis of rotation, changes. This is particularly important for sliding bearing with conical geometry. Due to the geometry of this kind of bearing, i.e. where the radius of this bearing (of the shaft and sleeve) has not a constant value, as in the case of a journal bearing, it is more difficult to obtain proper values and describe its hydrodynamic lubrication. This article shows the results of hydrodynamic lubrication of the slide conical bearing, for which the changes in the position of the bearing shaft in the longitudinal direction, i.e. along its axis of rotation, were taken into account. The commercial CFD software, designed for solving general for flow phenomena problems, was used in the simulations. This article shows the results of simulations, assuming that the lubricating oil behaves as a generalized Newtonian fluid. The hydrodynamic pressure distributions, load carrying capacities and friction torques were calculated for the concerned bearing. The aim of this work is to show how the operating parameters of the slide conical bearing can be influenced, by only changes of the position of the shaft along the axis of its rotation.

Opis:
In order to reduce the risk of premature wear or sudden failure of slide bearings it is necessary to take the relevant preventive steps. These can be determined on the ground of damage investigation and analysis of their causes. This paper presents some suggestions as to find causes of bearing failure, taking into account operational conditions, loads, applied lubricant and the quality of mating surfaces. A precise recognition of different causes of bearing failures should allow to reduce the hazard of premature wear and to take relevant preventing steps.Remarks on determination of bearing damage presented above and examples of damage presented in references try to show both to user and manufacturer their possible causes. If frequency of definite failure is occasional, most probably it results from unsuitable conditions of bearing operation (e.g. contaminated lubricating oil, oil film rupture, high temperature) or improper assembly (e.g. unsuitable bolt tightness, erroneous bearing clearance) of a certain engine. If damage concerns an entire engine family, one common cause should be defined. A precise recognition of damage various causes allow to diminish the hazard of premature wear by taking the appropriate preventing steps. Because of that very careful examination of the nature and distribution of any damage traces is recommended. Most often the research provide valuable hints how to construct, manufacture, assembly and operate bearings.

The paper provides a proposal of interpretation that valuates operations, which (just like operation of Hamilton and Maupertius shown in the classical mechanics and operation resulting from changes of body momentum) is considered as a physical quantity with: joule-second [joule x second] as a unit of measure. It presents suggestion of a quantitative interpretation of operation of a slide journal bearing, in which energetic interactions proceed at determined time. It has been here motivated that when the suggested interpretation for slide bearing operation in which energy conversions proceed, is accepted the operation can be a carrier of information about states of the systems so, it can become a diagnostic signal. Moreover, an original method of operation analysis and assessment for a slide journal bearing has been herein presented with regards to its reliability and safety. Possibilities of applying this method for the process of taking the rational operating decisions have been shown, too. The homogeneous process of Poison has been applied in order to prove usability of operation in such interpretation. This process has enabled construction of a model of the course of getting-worse operation for a bearing while the operation time goes by. Therefore, the model is a random process of homogenous and independent gains in energy lost due to friction and slide bearing wear.
