Human life has two forms. The first one is the successful management of private, professional life, the second one is in certain moments inability to harmonize their states and processes with the environment. Here we can see the effect of the social worker and his client. Client - an individual who at some point cannot understand the meaning of his own actions, gets into situations that seem to be so difficult to manage and he is not able even think about possible strategies for solutions. Social worker - a person who has such a wide range of options to address the adverse situations that at one point he is capable to offer and apply several solutions. The social worker is, therefore a person who has theoretical knowledge and social skills, knows how to react and propose a solution. Career opportunities in practice are wide and necessary due to the increasing number of socio-pathological phenomena, problems and vulnerable groups. Social skills are trainable. It is, therefore necessary to appeal to the development of these skills, which influence the future direction of personality and career opportunities in the field of social work.

Opis:
The play world of children with autism is based on a fixed formula of their behaviour. They do not participate willingly in games taken up spontaneously and any attempts to initiate them or join games voluntarily are not always successful. They wish to participate in social contacts like every child, they have motivation towards it but they lack the appropriate knowledge and skills in how to get involved in them normally (Pisula, 2005, p. 103; see Njardvik, Matson & Cherry, 1999, pp. 287-295). The effective method that supports problem solving and enables children to learn social skills, including play skills, is the usage of Comic Strip Conversations, which arranges in a systematic way “what people say and do, and emphasize what people may be thinking” (Gray, 1994, p. 1).

The modern world is currently facing new social threats, which pose a challenge to the existing aid systems. Circumstances like intensive migration processes or the uncertain situation resulting from ongoing military conflicts cause increased cultural differences, which intensify the marginalisation and social exclusion of minority groups. The Acting in Context by Training the Trainers in Social Empowerment (ACTTE) project was prepared to respond to emerging needs. The project was implemented in a consortium of 4 universities and 4 NGOs from Poland, France, Spain, Italy, and Belgium. The main goals of the project were: (1) development of tools for intervention work (toolbox) based on the Empowerment concept (emphasising increased control over one’s own life, self-confidence, and one’s abilities, and social integration among recipients of aid activities) for employees of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working with marginalised and socially excluded people as well as academic teachers educating future educators and social workers, (2) developing competencies/skills in DPA (Developing the Power to Act) – an approach using the concept of Empowerment in people participating in training (both NGO employees and academic teachers). The article focuses on the project’s implementation process.

Paneurhythmy is a group psycho-physical practice created in Europe, involving marked social interaction. The purpose of this paper is to provide information about Paneurhythmy, and to discuss its potential as a means of development of partnership and social skills. This article offers a brief introduction into Paneurhythmy. The basic characteristics of Paneurhythmy practices providing appropriate conditions for the improvement of partnership skills are formulated and explained. By means of analysis, discussion and examples, it is shown how Paneurhythmy for beginners and its further practice can develop skills for successful partnership with children and adults. The existent empirical and theoretical studies on the subject to date have been specified, confirming the cultivation of partnership and social skills through Paneurhythmy. Paneurhythmy has an extremely big potential for the development of partnership skills and for the improvement of social functioning. In this respect, the most important characteristics of Paneurhythmy are the following: group practice in pairs, an appropriate aim of the practice, the right music, common rhythm and synchronization of movements, specific distances between participants, typical characteristics and expressiveness of participants’ movements, Paneurhythmy philosophy, sharing space, suitable lyrics of Paneurhythmy songs, figures for the arrangement of participants, acting social roles and broadening the range of awareness. Paneurhythmy is a widely-accessible new instrument for personal and social development. This is confirmed by the existent scientific studies, revealing that, with children and adults, both initial training and further practising Paneurhythmy leads to the improvement of interpersonal relations and social skills.

Aim. The aim of the research is to study the usage of primary school pupils’ self-expression skills acquired within music education in various social contexts. Methods. Theoretical research method – the analysis of literature, empirical data acquisition method – questionnaire. Statistical data processing has been carried out in IBM SPSS 23 programme, using the following data processing methods: frequency analysis; Mann-Whitney U test for the comparison of two independent groups; Kruskal-Wallis test for the comparison of three or more independent groups; Kendall rank correlation coefficient for the assessment of associations between two variables. Results. In the development of self-expression skills, an important aspect is the social performance criterion that is based on pupils’ need for self-expression in a social environment of practising music. Age and gender-based correlations in the assessment of a self-expression skill criterion "Social performance" indicate that with age pupils become more independent and engaged in music-related social activities. Girls are socially more active and emotional and engage in artistic activities more often. The research confirms the role of teachers in the development of pupils’ self-expression skills, promoting integration of formal and informal learning process and transformation in formal and informal learning environment. Conclusions. The dynamics and interactions of self-expression skills’ development factors (social, emotional and intellectual) defines pupils’ individual self-expression skills and development tendencies. Self-expression is important for pupils in social aspect, as it is related to socialisation in microenvironment (family) and macroenvironment (friends) and affects cooperation and communication.

Opis:
The aim of the paper was to described substantial symptoms making possible a clinical differential diagnosis of autism and Asperger syndrome. Those differences do not merely reflect the intensification of negative features but that Autism and Asperger syndrome are separate syndromes, which, however, share a common spectrum of symptoms. Making a differential diagnosis is essential due to different therapeutic and educational needs of children suffering from those syndromes. The most evident differences are language and communication, manipulative behaviours, social relations as well as manual skills. The first important difference is language, which has been neglected so far since the research concentrated on communication and its disorders. While language is of a high diagnostic value that allows early identification of symptoms specific for Asperger syndrome. The second difference is a very high level of manipulative behaviours in Asperger syndrome which leads to disorders in social functioning of such individuals. Therefore, dealing with manipulation is a significant therapeutic task. At the same time, manipulative behaviours occurring in Asperger syndrome should be distinguished from resistence manifested by autistic children. Moreover, children with Asperger show a need of social relations despite considerable lowering of social competencies, and failures to communicate provoke the intensification of deviant behaviours. Finally, children with autism and Asperger syndrome vary in the level of manual skills. Though initial picture may be very similar, the potential of people with Asperger syndrome for gaining proper graphomotor skills is considerably higher due to the lack of deep disorders in motor planning.

In this article, the authors analyze the pro-societal activities of students who were awarded the SAPERE AUSO scholarship, which is given to students in Warsaw, Poland. The aim of this study was to investigate the scope of social activities undertaken by scholarship beneficiaries of the SAPERE AUSO Warsaw scholarship program. The analysis revealed that these students were socially active at school, in their local community and across the country. The research also showed that the students were willing to share their talents, trying to find a use for them in society. Another group of students was those with social skills: increased empathy, an aptitude for organizing work and events, and leadership skills. Such young people are socially active regardless of their educational achievements. This is particularly important for educators and local governments, as it guides thinking about the education of gifted students, not only in the context of academic achievement, but also social achievement.

The musical milieu raises a number of challenges for artists. Coping with these depends not only on the level of musical abilities but also on a number of personal skills. The diverse styles of music education and the expectations set for musicians performing various music genres have inspired research exploring the differences between classical and jazz musicians. Of the psychological areas important for functioning effectively as a musician, stress management styles and social skills have been examined in this study. It was assumed that the genre of publicly performed music, and thus the different modes of music education in the field of classical and jazz music performance, can cause significant differences in the psychological functioning of musicians. Of the 73 musicians who participated in the study, 38 were classical musicians and 35 were jazz musicians. The jazz musicians revealed a significantly higher level of social competence in terms of social exposure compared to the classical musicians. There were no differences in the style of coping with stress between the two groups. The results of the study might inspire psychologists working with musicians to plan therapeutic programs aimed at psychological preparation for public performances, with the specificity of musical genres taken into account. Future research may investigate the extent temperament and personality of musicians representing different specialties influence their stress coping strategies and social skills.

The aim of this article, based on the literature review, is to explore the senses within the context of knowledge. The article begins with a description of embodied (i.e., also sensory) knowledge’s marginalisation within the social sciences and the reasons for this. After indicating the most popular fields of research, the article explores three main understandings of sensory knowledge: (1) senses as a source of knowledge, (2) senses as acquired skills and (3) sensory knowledge as a result of (collective) activity. In the next part, sensory knowledge is discussed as tacit knowledge, taking into account the problem of its verbalisation and the nature of its acquisition. The last part explores the social construction of sensory knowledge and its relation to subjective experiences, referring to the concepts of intersubjectivity, objectification and legitimisation.
