Opis:
The article deals with the concept of science in action. This is a method of conducting science in the interests of the local community and in collaboration with local institutions. Academic research is coupled with practice, with the common aim of solving specific social problems. Knowledge gained in this way enriches global achievements, and at the same time meets the needs of the community. The defining conditions of this process are respect and mutual acknowledgement among co-workers, partnership communication, co-operation focussed on effectiveness and the coupling of theory with practical research, as well as a full-scale diagnosis of the real problems in the institute.

Currently, the European Commission puts emphasis on supporting collaboration between universities and business. There are many possible ways to create a strong relationship between both these parties. Positive results of such cooperation lead to increased competitiveness of the global market and, in consequence, bring significant growth of innovation. The cooperation between research-to-research (R2R) and research-to-business (R2B) is analysed. The paper shows how the IT technology can be used to support and stimulate it. In our University we proposed a two-step strategy. Firstly, we tried to improve collaboration among scientists in order to develop R2R activities. Secondly, we focused on R2B projects that stimulate promising scientists to take part in various innovative activities carried out in cooperation with the industry representatives. Based on some well-known good practices a special Internet platform was designed and implemented to support such a strategy. Its name is the “Bridge of Knowledge”. The platform architecture, its functionality and some other aspects of the development process are described. The platform was developed and introduced at the Gdańsk University of Technology. It has been available online for nearly 2 years now and it has been attracting increasing numbersof new visitors and returning users. Several use cases of cooperation between R2R and R2Bwere analysed and described with the use of advanced analytic tools and on the basis of the organisation’s resources. The idea of the Bridge of Knowledge platform is to gather and share resources not only from one university. The architecture of the platform focuses on a wide and easy interoperability. Other universities can share their resources without any additional cost.

New areas of activities of Polish Research Institutes, competitiveness, measures of successes of Research Institutes, model of Research Institute, way to international cooperation are presented in the paper. At present Polish industry looking for well educated graduates, therefore Polish universities are flourishing. Foreign owners and clients became sources of new technologies. It is easy to justify choice of these solutions. International cooperation gives opportunity for achievement global R&D competition. It also gives opportunity for young well educated graduates to work in Poland. Successes of Research Institute demand double measures. It means necessity to measure two success elements: economy success and professional success. Modern research institute can be compared to professional sport club. Such sport club members, there are people hungry for knowledge and job successes, ready for heavy work, greedy for fame. This similarity creates new innovative management conception of Research Institutes in Poland. The paper presents in particulate Institute of Aeronautics, Some data concerning the Institute of Aeronautics illustrate its possibilities scientific-research, the possibility of working out novel of products and the international cooperation within the framework of bilateral agreements and European Programs.

The article contributes to a better understanding of the role of research in the policies of the states that are scientifically engaged in the High North. The research covers 17 European states: six are Arctic and 11 non-Arctic, which were selected according to the follow- ing (at least one) formulated criteria: having an established tradition of carrying out scientific research in the Arctic region; having issued Arctic policy documents and/or Arctic research strategies; participation in the activities of the Arctic Council; and having gained member- ship of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). In the analysis we have applied a mixed research method, since it incorporates elements of both qualitative and quantitative approaches and offers a more comprehensive review of the scrutinised texts. The qualitative analysis relies on a discourse analysis (predicate analysis). The quantitative part of the analysis utilizes the instruments of a software research tool — The AntConc. In the end, the outcomes of both methods are merged and compared. The study reveals that conducting scientific re- search is not a top priority for all Arctic states. However, it has the highest similarity in terms of applied approaches among Arctic states as compared to other fields (e.g. the economy, se- curity or pollution). At the same time, the environment and climate change are perceived to be the most important drivers behind Arctic research as defined in the Arctic states’ strategies. Moreover, there are major differences among both Arctic and non-Arctic states in terms of the level of accuracy in the presentation of their research activities, particularly with regard to the implementation of scientific programmes and research aims. Finally, the research indicates that all states highlight that international scientific cooperation stimulates cooperation also in other areas and that research provides information that supports decision making and policy creation

The basic elements determining the cooperation of reinforcement inserts with the ground centre are discussed, depending on the features characterizing the components of the composite. The method and selected results of tests performed on a massif model with a vertical wall made of non-cohesive ground have been presented. A calculation example is given concerning the internal dimensioning of the reinforcement of the considered massif model, assuming the work of inserts without slipping in the ground centre. The concept of reinforcement co-operation indicator with the ground centre was introduced and a dependence to calculate its value was developed. The values of co-operation indicators: general and partial, concerning individual measurement levels of the model have been presented appropriately.

CRM systems in marketing

cooperation between science and industry
Opis:
Scientific marketing is an area which supports cooperation of science and industry. In some countries this kind of cooperation is already quite advanced, in other countries, like Poland, it has only started developing. However, a lot can be done to improve the flow of information and technology from Polish science to Polish industry and the other way round, as well as to inspire new scientific research with demand on the national and foreign market (export of services). Insufficient cooperation results above all from from the lack of mutual understanding of the manner of functioning. Scientific units hardly ever have independent marketing units within their structures. At the same time representatives of the industry don't know who they should contact to start cooperation. The managements of industrial companies often don't regard then' own marketing departments as significant, even though they generate further orders and can provide information about trends and innovations. In reality, the difference between the cooperation of science and industry and a standard B2B relation (business to business) between companies is not big. Thanks to this similarity it is possible to use the CRM system, which appropriately applied can contribute to raising profits by addressing the needs of the client (understanding market needs by scientific institutions, on the other hand the industry can skillfully present a problem). In this amele we suggest paying attention to the application of CRM in the context of scientific marketing. Our current knowledge suggests that such solutions haven't been implemented yet and if they exist, they concern only a small proportion of scientific institutions and the industry. Scientific institutions take advantase of CRM onlv in the context of databases or the so-called "address lists" used for contact with current, former and future students and scientific employees, but not in the context of cooperation with the industry. Such svstems could be modeled and installed at the same time in scientific institutions, in the industry or in consulting companies dealing with establishing cooperation of various organizations with the industry. This publication is devoted to scientific marketing and the prospects for its effective development thanks to applying a modem CRM system, which manages relations with the client. At the besinnins certain definitions and information about scientific marketing will be discussed. Further. CRM system will be discussed. At the end of the article the focus will shift to the possibility of applying CRM system in scientific marketing.

Road safety was and still is one of the real hazards for human society all over the world. In order to manage the problem of excessive road death toll at the both sides of Atlantic two independent initiatives were started in 1970 in the USA in the US Department of Transportation. The paper describes the genesis of intergovernmental European initiative named EEVC, its history, participants and scope of former and current scientific research related to improvements in vehicle design safety. The work was started from the careful analysis of accident statistics data including the severity of accident. The important feature of EEVC working groups is participation of car industry researchers enabling wide verification of scientific achievements. For specific items, it is also shown the practical profit based on knowledge coming from EEVC research. Most important items resolved by EEVC were in-depth study of multidirectional impact mechanics, development of anthropometric dummies, pedestrian safety, passive/active safety interaction, rear under run protection etc. The influence of change in vehicle design appears important for all road users the vulnerable persons including. The relation to other similar international initiatives was pointed together with the future direction of activity and relation to National and International (UN ECE and EC) legislative bodies. The Polish input to EEVC research was described since in 2002 Poland started its participation.

The changing European context challenges the education system in Poland. Schools and parents are supposed to cope effectively with increasing expectations, neoliberal pressure, and lack of time (Graham-Clay 2005). Being a teacher involves continuously seeking new solutions and ways to respond to these challenges throughout the whole teaching practice. Parenthood is also a lifelong learning process constantly shaped by communities around parents and the world at large (Mendel 2016). In these rapidly changing times, even the well-established concepts of traditional family and teacher roles are being redefined. In the paper, the author will comment on the results of research, which shed light on trust as a key factor in fostering cooperation among parents and teachers in the context of Poland. The methodological framework (Mouffe 1999; 2013; Koczanowicz 2015) which the author has chosen allowed her to achieve certain positive effects, such as establishing meaningful partnership and thus challenging the existing educational reality

The article looks at organizational and financial regulation of construction and operation of large-scale research plants. It analyzes and describes general provisions and peculiarities of mega-science projects, and their definitions. It also studies organizational forms of their cooperation both at the national and international levels and looks at financial mechanisms applied to the funding of research facilities on the territory of Russia and abroad. While working on the article the authors have established that financial and legal norms are applied to social relations targeted at financing mega-science projects. Social relations include the issues of fi nancing from state budget and tax relief applied to the organizations that construct and operate large research plants. The article also looks at fi nancial control, which is put in place during the implementation of mega-science projects. As a result of the conducted research a conclusion has been made about the effi ciency of joint projects by both international government organizations and Russian organizations where research facilities will be located. The article also draws attention to a misplaced approach, when mega-science projects are implemented on the premises of research institutions funded from state budget.

The aim of the article is to identify the specifics of the furniture industry based upon the example of Poland and with the application of the industrial network approach. In the article, the ARA (Actors-Resources-Activities) model is adopted as the basic framework developed within the industrial network approach. This in turn allows for the identification of the interdependencies between important entities (actors), resources and activities influencing this industry, the main entities within the industry, the surrounding business environment as well as their characteristics. A special emphasis is put on the entities from the environment surrounding the furniture industry so as to include some significant factors influencing it – both in a positive and negative sense.

The present paper analyses the issues of asset supply in Hungarian agricultural enterprises. The results of empirical research carried out into specialized field crop farms have revealed a number of anomalies. By analyzing the indicators which describe asset supply, a substantial capacity surplus and capacity shortage existing paralelly was observed in Hungarian agriculture. Most small farms were seen to use their assets wastefully. If the costs related with machine use are modelled, a close negative correlation between farm size and machine use cost is observed. On the basis of cost structure examination and former conclusions, a clear affirmative answer can be given to the question in the title. Unfortunately, the present farming practice is that farms with capacity shortage procure the required resources in the form of renting services and not by way of other cooperation arrangement solutions.

Opis:
The interest of Latin American countries in space research has been successfully developing for many decades. It has its roots in the first development programmes for the Brazilian and Argentinian defence industry within the import substitution strategy, and then the export-oriented strategy during the period of the military rule. The endogenous development of space technology was treated in those countries as a priority and served as a way to diffuse technology to other industries, and as a model for the other countries in the region (Peru and Venezuela), which wished to develop outer space programme by developing their own technologies within the chosen range or by partaking in broader cooperation programmes on the Latin American continent [1]. The Latin American space agencies, which already existed in many countries in the 1960s and the 1970s, were carrying out relatively costly research, treating development in this area not only as the achievement of the economic development objectives, but also as an attempt to oppose the dominance of Washington [2]. Despite of the vast funding on endogenous research in the field of space engineering being provided, until the end of the last century only the projects conducted together with the Soviet Union (Cuba) or The United States were accomplished successfully. Currently and in the nearest future, the Latin American countries are still forced to rely on external assistance with satellite launching, expertise, more advanced technologies, etc. It should be noticed that countries conducting advanced and costly space programmes: the United States, Russia, China and the European Union (especially France and – but to a substantially lesser degree – Italy) show a growing interest in cooperation with Latin America and appreciation towards their specialists, high quality research and space technologies.

ETHNOGRAPHIC RESEARCH
Opis:
This paper discusses the issues of cooperation and mutual assistance with regard to the theory of exchange as proposed by Marcel Mauss, Bronislaw Malinowski and Claude Lévi-Strauss. In this approach, exchange is a universal phenomenon of social life. Principles of reciprocity (do, ut des) and balance of services are viewed in the context of everyday life. The analysis presented is based on qualitative ethnographic research carried out in the Silesian Beskid at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The present-day role of the analysed forms of social activity, the rules governing their implementation, and the social consequences of their changes over time are discussed.
