Opis:
The significance of duoethnography as an alternative qualitative method for investigating research in the humanities and social sciences has considerably increased in the last decade or so. Yet, despite its increasing popularity and the growth of duoethnographic studies in second and foreign language learning and teaching, duoethnography is still unknown to many applied linguists. In order to partially redress this gap, the aim of this article is to present duoethnography as a promising qualitative method for applied lin-guistics studies. The text outlines the basic tenets of duoethnography, discusses the scope of its research on language learning and teaching at the present time and describes innovations that duoethnography introduces to data collection, writing, presenting and interpreting research. The article concludes with a call for more duoethnographic studies in applied linguistics as they provide a welcome move towards greater methodological diversity. This, in turn, may contribute to our better understanding of the experience of language learning and teaching, and the identity of language learners and teachers, as well as generate new themes for research.

Introduction This review aims to present briefly the new horizon opened to pharmacology by the deep learning (DL) technology, but also to underline the most important threats and limitations of this method. Material and Methods We searched multiple databases for articles published before May 2021 according to the preferred reported item related to deep learning and drug research. Out of the 267 articles retrieved, we included 50 in the final review. Results DL and other different types of artificial intelligence have recently entered all spheres of science, taking an increasingly central position in the decision-making processes, also in pharmacology. Hence, there is a need for better understanding of these technologies. The basic differences between AI (artificial intelligence), DL and ML (machine learning) are explained. Additionally, the authors try to highlight the role of deep learning methods in drug research and development as well as in improving the safety of pharmacotherapy. Finally, future directions of DL in pharmacology were outlined as well as possible misuses of it. Conclusions DL is a promising and powerful tool for comprehensive analysis of big data related to all fields of pharmacology, however it has to be used carefully.

Opis:
This article reports on a project that employed narrative inquiry captured on film to explore the creative practices of five mature graduates. They had previously been mature students and continued to work within their various communities after they had left formal education. The participants were asked to describe their creative practice and its impact on other people through interviews and presentations. A researcher with help from a professional filmmaker carried out the project. From the initial footage, three polished, edited versions of the films were made. The participants could use the films to promote their own work if they so wished. Narrative inquiry is a means of seeing the connections between significant incidents and longerterm impact beyond formal education. The film footage was able to capture the connectivity between formal education, the participants and the people who had been touched by their creative practices. It successfully gave a narrative coherence to the participants’ stories. Where appropriate, the visual aspects of creativity were captured, in this case, the participants all had a creative practice, and the visual realm was an important part of their stories. The findings of the project were that the participants had some shared values about the importance of creative education. They all developed portfolio careers in order to carry on their creative work. All the participants were able to give examples of particular instances where their creative practice had had an impact on other people. In other words, adult learning does not just influence the individual but can have a wider and longer-term impact on others.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to identify the attitudes of young people representing the so-called generation Z, towards the concept of lifelong learning in the context of managers' expectations. Design/methodology/approach: The article includes both a literature review and the authors’ own primary research. The study applies the results of qualitative (an individual in-depth interview) and quantitative (CAWI) research conducted in 2021 in Wielkopolska [Greater Poland]. Findings: The research shows that there is a large discrepancy between the managers’ expectations and the attitudes of young people towards the necessity to participate in lifelong learning. Managers pay attention to the extreme importance of the necessity to constantly learn new things not only in contemporary, but especially in the future, labor market. At the same time there is a relatively low level of acceptance of this necessity among people representing the generation Z. Research limitations/implications: In the future it is worth repeating the research among the representatives of generation Z living in other provinces and even other countries. Social implications: The article indicates that the development of lifelong learning skills requires, among others, developing a comprehensive education policy and cooperation between the public, private and civic sectors. It is also connected with the necessity to promote this concept in various environments – among different generations of employees, as well as young people soon entering the labor market. Originality/value: The obtained results confirm a large discrepancy between the managers’ expectations and the attitudes of young people towards the necessity to participate in lifelong learning. The article provides recommendations for paying attention to the need to teach young people the methods of effective self-learning and promote this concept in various environments.

The term ‘social responsibility of museums’ implies various associations, most frequently referring to the sphere of management and the activities of commercial entities in accordance with the ISO 26000 standard. In this article, we report on some of the tasks performed in connection with a project based on a sociological perspective and addressing the social responsibility of public cultural institutions such as museums. As this concept is relatively new, we decided to check how it is understood in the social world of Polish museum professionals. The research was therefore carried out using elements of the grounded theory methodology, i.e., the concepts (categories) were not defined at the outset, but defined and characterised in the course of the research according to the understanding of the respondents. Using a triangulation of methods, an analysis of found data, individual interviews in Polish museums (IDI) and focus group interviews (FGI) in Polish and international groups were conducted. A particularly interesting strand of the Project was museum education and its growing importance. This article focuses on the conducted focus group interviews (FGI). A specific commentary on the findings is provided by the reflections given during a guest lecture by Dr Bernadette Lynch organised as part of the Project.

The article deals with an analysis of grade 4 and 5 textbook exercises related to the topic of People and Time according to their type. We categorize the method of content analysis (the type of learning exercise was the specific transformation) and compare the types of learning exercises in the textbooks issued by six publishers. A revision of Bloom's Taxonomy is used for categorizing the learning exercises. The research sample consists of 2101 learning exercises related to history lessons. The results show that the majority of the exercises are related to memory (over 50% of all exercises). Conversely, learning exercises of a higher cognitive difficulty (creative, analytical, or synthetic) only appear sporadically in the textbooks. This trend is similar for the textbooks of all the researched publishers.

Opis:
This paper presents considerations regarding the results of idiographic research carried out within the course of four cycles of an interdisciplinary project: „Students towards the places of (non)memory at Nicolaus Copernicus University”. On a theoretical level, the project was based, among other things, on the concept of memorial sites of Pierre Nora. In terms of methodology the project was based on action research supported by the analysis and interpretation of empirical data collected through the search for sources, (focus) interviews and (self)observation which was subject to thick description. On a didactic level, the project was built around the assumptions of a critical and emancipation paradigm of student education. In the presentation of the results of the project, emphasis was placed on the description of the multi-faceted process of learning by organizing popularizing activities. The process gave project participants the opportunity to be the subjects of their own practice, and its multi-faceted cognition, which fostered critical reflection – by taking into account the context or feedback – and resulted in the formulation of conclusions for the future. In order to show the specificity of the presented process, the text shows the characteristics of the stages of implementation of individual popularization initiatives (planning and preparation stage, public presentation stage and evaluation stage).
W celu ukazania specyfiki prezentowanego procesu w tekście przedstawiono charakterystykę etapów realizacji poszczególnych inicjatyw popularyzatorskich (etap planowania i przygotowywania, etap publicznej prezentacji i etap ewaluacji), których organizacji proces ten towarzyszył.

Though it is laborious to examine the culture of the school, researchers have been endeavouring to empirically apprehend it since the 1960’s. A variety of research jobs have been carried out, of various starting points, ways of materialisation, and conclusions. The present text indicates a way of classifying these studies according to the purposes they had been assigned. Though the list of examples is not entirely complete nor is the classification definite, a conclusion is clear and evident: in most cases, the culture of the school is not examined in order to grasp this culture itself. Much more often, the culture of the school is examined as a starting point, a pre-condition, or a tool to explore another object of the researcher’s interest outside the culture itself, such as the quality and evaluation of the school’s overall performance, the quality of the learning process, or the school’s developmental potential.
