Opis:
The article presents solutions of crossroads which make it possible to eradicate dangerous places at selected crossroads in Rzeszów. The solution consists in redeveloping traffic lights signalizations and installations of self-exited system with automatic traffic measurements. The idea of safety increase comes down to the implementation of accommodated traffic lights for all road traffic users. This installation is adapted to the road traffic changes by altering the time of green signals for vehicular traffic and omitting the green lights for pedestrians if not necessary. The traffic control is realized on the basis of current registration of traffic intensity with a video detecting system (for vehicular traffic) and push-button (for pedestrian traffic). At the crossroads there are separate roadways to turn left. The traffic control system is divided into four elementary traffic phases, the sequence of which is dependent on the analyzed traffic situation. The safety increase was also accomplished by improvements of friction grip. It was a result of a special layer of SMA asphalt (4 centimeter thickness) application. Additionally, there were safety barriers built, which preclude car parking in the neighborhood of crossroads. These solutions increased visibility at crossroads. The goal of the rebuilding was to decrease the number of road accidents in vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The bettering of the traffic flow and the improvement of safety at Rzeszów crossroads were achieved by the crossroads rebuilding and traffic control system application at the following crossroads: Lubelska - Mączka - Wyzwolenia streets and Targowa -Pilsudskiego - Głowackiego Streets. The investment project assumed over 50% decrease of the quantity of road accidents.

Over the years, the Middle East has played a diverse role in Soviet and later Russian foreign policy. During the period of rivalry between the USSR and the US, it was an important area of confrontation. After its end, the Russian Federation became immersed in crisis and lost interest in the region. The Middle East again appeared in the Kremlin’s geostrategic thinking after the Arab Spring which the Russian authorities perceived as fuelled and directed by the West, especially the US. The consequences of these social upheavals in the form of the overthrow of the Libyan leader or the explicit aspirations of the West to remove Bashar al-Assad from power, led Vladimir Putin to take action. This article is an attempt to interpret Russian actions in Syria, including its military involvement, through the prism of the Kremlin’s neo-superpower policy.

The article presents an analysis of the urban transport system solutions in Rzeszów in terms of its optimization and implementation of new solutions. In the analvsis the current traffic and communication solutions were taken inio account, i.e. the network of the existing roads, road marking, traffic control and public transport traffic. In addition, the possibility of applying innovative solutions to the urban transport - ground monorail train was laken into account. The reason for the analysis is constantly increasing volume of traffic in the city, which causes the neccssity to implement new innovative solutions for transport and public transport. At present in Rzeszów the transport system is based on the bus service, most urban and suburban lines are supported bv Urban Transport Company. In addition. some suburban lines are served bv private carriers and Shuttle Service Companv, which is also transport provided by buses. Therefore, if possible, the new transport solutions should not burden the existing system of public roads and ensure smooth movement of passengers regardless of vehicle transport. All kinds of overground or underground urban railway types, including monorail train transportation, are examples of such solutions. Rzeszow City is considering the introduction of such a railway within the framework of the development of transport infrastructure. The article also presents an analysis of the possibility of building a monorail train in terms of technological, architectural and urban solutions. Described are also planned solutions of the monorail train routes from the point of view of connection of the most important areas in the city at the first stage of the investment.

The rebuilding technologies are used to develop surface of ladle. Among many welding methods currently used to obtain surface layer without defects one of the most effective way of rebuilding is using metal arc welding. This additional material gives more possibilities to make expected quality of rebuild surface. Chemical composition, property and economic factors allow to use metal wire. Because of these reasons, solid wire gives opportunity to be wildly used as material to rebuild or repair the surface in different sectors of industry. The paper shows a few ways to rebuild the surface in the massive cast with the use of metal active gas welding for repair. The work presents studies of defect in the massive cast. It contains the pictures of microstructures and defects. The method of removing defects and the results of checking by visual and penetrant testing methods are shown. The papers describes the methodology of repair the ladle with metal active gas welding, preheating process and standards non destructive testing method.

Opis:
In the underground mines of the Legnica-Głogów Copper District (LGOM) the main way to protect the room excavation is the use of a rock bolt support. For many years, it has proven to be an efficient security measure in excavations which met all safety standards and requirements. The article presents the consumption of the rock bolt support in the Mining Department “Polkowice-Sieroszowice” in the years 2010-2015 as well as the number of bolt supports that were used to secure the excavations. In addition, it shows the percentage of bolt supports that were used to conduct rebuilding work and cover the surface of exposed roofs. One of the factors contributing to the loss of the functionality of bolt supports is corrosion whose occurrence may lead directly to a reduction in the diameter of rock bolt support parts, in particular rods, bearing plates and nuts. The phenomenon of the corrosion of the bolt support and its elements in underground mining is an extremely common phenomenon due to the favorable conditions for its development in mines, namely high temperature and humidity, as well as the presence of highly aggressive water. This involves primarily a decrease in the capacity of bolt support construction, which entails the need for its strengthening, and often the need to perform the reconstruction of the excavation. The article presents an alternative for steel bearing plates, namely plates made using the spatial 3D printing technology. Prototype bearing plates were printed on a 3D printer Formiga P100 using the “Precymit” material. The used printing technology was SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), which is one of the most widely used technologies among all the methods of 3D printing for the short series production of the technical parts of the final product. The article presents the stress–strain characteristic of the long expansion connected rock bolt support OB25 with a length of 3.65 m. A rock bolt support longer than 2.6 m is an additional bolt support in excavations, and it is increasingly frequently used to reinforce roofs and in rebuilding the underground mines of KGHM Polish Copper S.A. In order to conduct the laboratory tests that are most suitable for the mine conditions, and yet are carried out on a laboratory test facility, the Authors used a steel cylinder with an external diameter of 102 mm and a length of 600 mm, which was filled with a core of rock (dolomite) from the roofs of the mine workings. In addition the maximum load that took over the bolt support made of rods and connected with sleeves was determined. For the initial tension, the elastic and plastic range of the maximal displacements, which were measured by the rope encoder, were determined. The statical tests of the expansion rock bolt support were carried out at the laboratory of the Department of Underground Mining in simulated mine conditions. The test facility enables the study of the long bolt rods on a geometric scale of 1:1 for the different ways of fixing. The aim of the laboratory research was to obtain the stress-strain characteristics, of the long expansion rock bolt support with a steel bearing plate and a plate printed on a 3D printer.

Opis:
St Mary's Cathedral is the Archbishop church of the Archdiocese in Perth in Western Australia. The presented sacral building was built in neo-Gothic style during the years 1863-1865. Cathedral was officially dedicated and opened for the service on 29th January, 1865. In 1973 was proclaimed the Marian Sanctuary and now represents one of the largest religious facilities in Perth. In 2005, the city authorities, together with the Archdiocese took a collective decision on the necessity of a comprehensive renovation of this sacred object. The renovation was due to the technical condition and the lack of usability of the object. The author of the paper had the opportunity to experience these problems by visiting this place several times, first time in 1989 and next years. Thus, the renovation of the present Cathedral was in its assumption not only to perform maintenance of the building and its specific architectural elements but also to increase its functional features - usable for the faithful and tourists. Reconstruction of St Mary's Cathedral in Perth can be a good example increasing the wider functionality of such facilities while keeping their antique and historical qualities. In this paper the above-mentioned issues will be more widely developed by the author.
Perth w Zachodniej Australii. Przedmiotowy budynek sakralny został zbudowany w stylu neogotyckim w latach 1863-1865. Oficjalnie Katedra została poświęcona i oddana do użytku 29 stycznia 1865 roku. W 1973 została ogłoszona sanktuarium maryjnym i stanowi obecnie jeden z największych obiektów sakralnych w Perth.

Opis:
It is an established fact that when roads are planned and constructed, consideration needs to be given to ensuring the strength of the road surface. It is, however, also the case that when an existing road is being rebuilt or is under maintenance, its base may need to be fortified to increase the road’s vehicle-carrying capacity. The base may, for example, contain a high proportion of weak soil that would be difficult, time-consuming, and costly to remove. This paper aims to investigate the efficacy of using sand-filled piles to reduce road deformation. Experiments conducted on sponge samples confirm that there is a relationship between the total area of sand-filled piles and relative reduction in deformation. It finds that the relationship is non-linear, but that the relationship can be made linear by adjusting the area of sand-filled piles. When the area of sand-filled piles increases from 7.8% to 19.4%, the deformation module can change by up to 100%. Relative reduction in deformation can change from 14% to 45.5% when the area of sand-filled piles increases from 7.8% to 11.7%. The maximum reduction in deformation - 92.4% - occurs when the area of sand-filled piles exceeds 19.5%. Changing the loads borne also affects the deformation module. This paper found that when there was a 10 to 15kg load, and the number of sandfilled piles was increased, there was a change in the deformation module by 380-470%. When there was only a 5kg load on the sample, and the number of sand-filled piles was increased, there was a change in the deformation module by up to 1217%.

Opis:
The so-called “Stalinist episode” (1948/9–1955/6 in Warsaw; 1945 dragged out to the late-1950s in Soviet-held Minsk) was of crucial significance to both cities, being marked by intensive construction work primarily focussed on the respective city centres. In Warsaw, this was a brief and highly-charged seven or so years intricately intertwined with setting up the Polish People’s Republic. The foundations were thus laid for a so-called socialist capital city, characterised by ‘communalisation’ of property, zealous architects enjoying Party favour and ripping down the burnt-out ruins of a great many readily restorable buildings; above all tenement houses from the anathematised «bougeois-capitalist» era of c.1850–1914.Re-building in the capital of the BSSR still enjoys wide recognition for transforming it into a million+ city. The obliterated main street became the showpiece Stalin (now Independence) Avenue; Lenin, Engels, Karl Marks, other central streets undergoing partial redevelopment. While key historic monuments were ripped down, the still prominent remnant architecture from c.1850–1914 was typically restored, heightened or readapted to suit the Stalinist aesthetic. ‘Historic Minsk’ began to be reinvented after 1991. Summary reference is additionally made to the respective pre-1939 and pre-1941 urban-architectural profiles of Warsaw and Minsk, their wartime destruction and continued urban redevelopment beyond the key Stalinist ‘episode’ that had defined vital aspects of the post-1945 built urban environment.
Decydujące znaczenie w przypadku Warszawy i Mińska miał tzw.

Aleksander Gieysztor (1916–1999) was unquestionably one of the most outstanding representatives of the Polish humanities in the 20th century. He considered himself a historian, and his basic workplace was the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw, while his research focused around mediaeval culture. He became a museum professional slightly against his own will, in the last decades of his career, when taking on the position of the Director of the rebuilt Royal Castle in Warsaw. Despite thinking of himself as a historian, Gieysztor was well prepared to exert the function, since he had always been extremely interested in artistic sources, as important and clear as a historiographer’s narrative or a chronicler’s note. Not only did numerous publications testify to his interest, but he also formulated the programme of the Team for the Research into the Beginnings of the Polish State, which he headed in 1948–1955. Owing to its historical and symbolical significance, the Warsaw Castle took an important position in Gieysztor’s career. He was by Stanisław Lorentz’s side from the very beginning, supporting him in his efforts to have the Castle rebuilt, the project neglected by Poland’s Communist authorities. Having become member of the Civil Committee for Rebuilding the Royal Castle, Gieysztor headed its Archaeological-Historical section. From 1973 he became member of the so-called Castle Curator Board: a team which collegially managed the Castle. Esthetical sensitivity and artistic erudition, as well as a thorough knowledge of old-Polish culture provided Gieysztor with an excellent background to fit with the group of scholars decisive for the shape and educational programme of the reconstructed Castle; later, individually, they allowed him to find satisfaction in the role of the Director heading its furbishing. Gieysztor acknowledged this project to have been his greatest intellectual challenge in the last decades of his academic career. However, he regarded it as his duty: service to society longing for symbols to shape its historical identity.

Opis:
This article details the pastoral ministry of Archbishop Kazimierz Świątek, who witnessed to Christ in Belarus as priest for fifty-two years and as an archbishop and cardinal for almost twenty years. After Soviet oppression in Belarus ceased and when Archbishop Kazimierz Świątek became canonically responsible for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Mińsk-Mohilev and the Diocese of Pińsk, the institutional Church and faith of the people barely existed in these locations. By the time Archbishop Świątek retired from his episcopal ministry, however, the ecclesiastical province had all the institutions necessary to function normally, and the churches were filled with the faithful. Given the exponential growth of the faithful and institutional Church under Archbishop, Świątek’s care, his pastoral ministry as a bishop merits particular attention and Archbishop Świątek himself deserves to be included among the long list of zealous bishops of the Church of Christ. Fr. Świątek’s earlier ministry as a priest has been analyzed in a previous article
Czas prezbiteratu przedstawiłem we wcześniejszej publikacji.
