Research background: A commercial bank's competitive ability is of great importance as it plays a vital role in ensuring a bank's success; hence, it is necessary to identify the factors that contribute to the development of competitive advantage of commercial banks and to shift competitive ability to a higher level. The competiveness of banks is assessed from customers' perspective, highlighting the main factors that influence them in choosing a particular bank. Purpose of the article: The paper aims to assess the determinants influencing bank's competitive ability from customers' perspective by indicating the level of their influence. The following objectives are set: to distinguish the determinants influencing commercial bank's competitive ability, to prepare a methodology for the assessment of factors, to evaluate the importance of the factors using expert evaluation method based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. Methods: A questionnaire was prepared for the experts in order to collect the data; fuzzy analytic hierarchy process was implemented for processing the data. Findings & Value added: The research was conducted in Latvia and Lithuania at the beginning of 2017. The results showed that the most important factor for bank's competitive ability in both - Lithuania and Latvia - is customers' trust. Reliability of the bank (both in Latvia and Lithuania) and the privileges of loyal customers (only in Latvia) have gained experts? attention as well. The proposed model of bank?s competitive ability allows to evaluate the level of bank's competitiveness effectively, which would help the bank to plan its activities successfully and attract new customers in order to take the leading position in the market.

Opis:
The article presents the results of plastic shaping tests of AZ61 and WE43 alloys. There were both classic extrusion tests as well as extrusion tests of KOBO method. An assessment was made of the influence of extrusion process parameters on the mechanical properties and the structure of the alloys. On the basis of achieved results of mechanical properties for alloys AZ31 and WE43 the susceptibility of those alloys to plastic shaping was determined. Quantitative tests of structure assessment in case of alloys AZ61 and WE43 after extrusion with the use of KOBO method were conducted with the use of METILO program. It has been shown that extrusion AZ61,WE43 alloys method KOBO leads to considerable fragmentation of grains.

Aim. The present study intends to explore how process drama can be effectively used and implemented in Indian classrooms. It further highlights the aspects of the conventional classrooms and discusses why Indian students are lacking in productive skills of the English language and how it can be diagnosed through using the theory and practice of process drama as an instructional method. Concepts/Methods. Data collection method through a questionnaire has been used in the study and SPSS version 20 is implemented to observe, analyze, and comprehend the data. Reliability and validity have been checked through a pilot study before using the questionnaire and the suggestions of an expert and responded were incorporated. Research Restrictions. The present study is limited to the Indian classrooms and especially the respondents were purposively chosen from undergraduate classrooms of different faculties. So it cannot be implemented thoroughly but the praxis of using process drama can be a potent strategy to teach English in ESL classrooms according to the level, background and nature of the learners.  Practical Application. The findings of the study clearly indicate that the use of process drama in classroom pedagogy has a positive impact on receptive and productive skills of language.     Cognitive value. The modern classroom pedagogy needs an approach of teaching which can foster the learning process easier and emphasize all four skills in an effective way.

In the decision‐making process, both single‐ and multi‐criteria tasks are dealt with. In the majority of cases, the selection of a solution comes down to determination of the “best” decision (most often based on the subjective assessment) or to organisation of the set of decisions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the methods used for evaluation of qualitative features in the multi‐criteria optimisation processes. This article discusses the possibilities of using the above‐mentioned method, illustrated with an example of purchasing technical equipment for one of the municipal landfill sites in the Silesian Province.
W procesie podejmowania decyzji mamy do czynienia zarówno z zadaniami jedno- jak i wielokryterialnymi. W większości przypadków wybór rozwiązania sprowadza się do wyznaczenia „najlepszej” decyzji (najczęściej wg subiektywnej oceny), bądź też do uporządkowania zbioru decyzji. Metoda procesu hierarchi analitycznej (AHP) jest jedną z metod stosowanych do oceny cech jakościowych w procesach optymalizacji wielokryterialnej. W artykule omówiono możliwości zastosowania ww. metody na przykładzie zakupu wyposażenia technicznego jednego ze składowisk odpadów komunalnych zlokalizowanych na obszarze woj. śląskiego.

The aim of the study was to present the possibility of applying the AHP-LP method to assess the significance of strategic factors (strategic goals and tasks) influencing the socioeconomic development of the commune. The Commune of Chrzypsko Wielkie in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship was used to illustrate the suggested approach. The study was based on the data from questionnaire surveys conducted among the councillors of the Commune of Chrzypsko Wielkie in 2012. The empirical studies proved the usefulness of the AHP-LP for assessment of the significance of strategic factors. The method enabled quantification of the significance of individual strategic factors. The most important aims in the Commune of Chrzypsko Wielkie include improvement of technical infrastructure, followed by development of the economy. The reduction of unemployment and modernisation of agriculture were the most important tasks. The suggested approach may be used in the process of making development strategies of administrative units.
Celem badań było przedstawienie możliwości zastosowania AHP-LP do oceny ważności czynników strategicznych (celów strategicznych i zadań) w gminie, na przykładzie gminy Chrzypsko Wielkie w województwie wielkopolskim. W badaniach wykorzystano dane z badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród radnych tej gminy w 2013 roku. Przeprowadzone badania empiryczne potwierdziły przydatność AHP-LP do oceny ważności czynników strategicznych. Metoda ta pozwoliła na skwantyfikowanie ważności poszczególnych czynników strategicznych. Do najważniejszych celów w gminie Chrzypsko Wielkie zaliczyć należy poprawę infrastruktury technicznej i gospodarkę. Wśród zadań najważniejsze były: zmniejszenie bezrobocia i modernizacja rolnictwa. Metoda ta jest użyteczna w planowaniu rozwoju.

This paper deals with the experimental validation of the suitability of the method for measuring radial variations of components on the process tool. The tests were conducted using a computerized PSA6, which was compared to a Talyrond 73. The results of measurement of roundness deviations as well as roundness profiles were analyzed for a sample of 70 shafts. The roundness deviations were assessed by determining the experimental errors, while the profiles obtained with the tested device were compared to those registered by the reference device using three correlation coefficients.

Opis:
Application of the shape sensitivity analysis to the case of problems of the biological tissue freezing process is discussed. The freezing process described by a strongly non-linear bioheat transfer equation in which an additional term controlling the evolution of latent heat appears. Using the approach called 'the one domain method', one finally obtains a partial differential equation containing the substitute thermal capacity of tissue. The boundary and initial conditions determine the thermal interaction between the tissue and cryoprobe tip. In the paper, we consider a spherical internal cryoprobe. In order to estimate the influence of cryoprobe geometry on the course of the process, the shape sensitivity analysis is applied. In particular, a direct approach is used (explicit differentiation method). The results of numerical modeling (the boundary element method is applied) allow one to formulate essential practical conclusions concerning the course of cryosurgery treatments.
Praca dotyczy zastosowania analizy wrażliwości kształtu w zagadnieniach modelowaniaprocesuzamrażania tkanki biologicznej. Proces ten jest opisany silnie nieliniowym równaniem przepływu biociepła, w którym pojawia się dodatkowy składnik związany z wydzielaniem się utajonego ciepła zamrażania. Formalne przekształcenia wyjściowego równania opisującego proces prowadzi do równania różniczkowego, w którym występuje zastępcza pojemność cieplna tkanki (tzw. metoda jednego obszaru). Odpowiednio przyjęte warunki brzegowe determinują oddziaływania termiczne między tkanką a końcówką kriosondy. W pracy rozważa się sferyczną kriosondę wewnętrzną. VV celu oszacowania wpływu geometrii kriosondy na przebieg procesu zamrażania wykorzystano podejście bezpośrednie analizy wrażliwości kształtu. Wyniki obliczeii numerycznych otrzymane za pomocą metody elementów brzegowych pozwoliły na sformułowanie wniosków przydatnych w praktyce kriochirurgicznej.

The paper presents results of the research work concerning effects of nickel concentration on the crystallization process, microstructure and selected properties of the compacted graphite iron. Compacted graphite in the cast iron was obtained with use of the Inmold process. The study has comprised the cast iron containing nickel up to concentration providing obtainment of austenitic microstructure of the matrix. The effect of the nickel on temperature of the eutectic crystallization was specified. It has been presented composition of the cast iron matrix in function of nickel concentration in a casting with wall thickness of 3 mm and 24 mm. Moreover, it has been presented conditions defining the possibility of obtaining an austenitic and martensitic compacted graphite iron. Effect of the nickel on hardness of the cast iron was described.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is one of the basic soil parameters which takes part in many biological, chemical and physical soil processes and the SOC is currently considered as a key indicator of soil quality. For this reason determination of the SOC is a part of soil complex monitoring which has been performed in Slovakia since 1993. From 1993 until 2007 the “wet” method of determination of the SOC was used. Since 2008 the “dry” method for determination of the SOC has been applied. The goal of this work has been to evaluate and compare two methods of the SOC determination; the “wet”(Ťiurin method in modification of Nikitin (TN)) and the “dry” determination of the SOC by means of the CN analyser (EA), which was performed on 95 soil samples of topsoil coming from 17 sampling sites with a wide range of the SOC (1–15%). Sampling sites include arable lands and grasslands and represent main soil types and subtypes of Slovakia. On the basis of statistical processing it has been found that in soils with the SOC content up to 3%, differences between two methods are minimal. However, in the case of a higher content of the SOC, the EA method reaches a higher value than the TN method. Obtained data shows that in the case of soil samples with a higher content of the SOC, when changing an analytical method, the PTF function that reduces differences and allows to use all time series monitoring data should be used for the purpose of the tracking trends of the SOC monitoring.
Celem pracy było porównanie wyników oznaczania węgla organicznego (SOC) w próbkach gleb dwoma metodami: spalania „na mokro“ (Tiurina) oraz spalania „na sucho“ w autoanalizatorzee CN. Analizowano 95 próbek gleb z 17 miejsc kompleksowego monitoringu gleb Słowacji, o zwawartości węgla organicznego od 1 do 15%. Analiza statystyczna wykazała, że różnice wyników oznaczania SOC dwoma metodami w próbkach o zawarości węgla do 3% nie były istotne statystycznie. Dla próbek o wyższej zawartości SOC, wyniki uzyskane metodą spalania „na sucho“ były istotnie wyższe niż uzyskane metodą Tiurina, dlatego do celów porównawczych zawartości SOC w tych glebach oznaczonych różnymi metodami należy stosować odpowiednie przeliczniki.

The user friendly computer system that have the capability of modelling material behaviour both at the macro and micro scales was developed in this work. The system was designed to predict microstructure evolution during phase transformation in laminar cooling conditions with the use of the multi scale cellular automata finite element (CAFE) model. The finite element (FE) part is based on the conventional Fourier type equation and is used to predict macroscopic temperature distribution. This is an input for the micro scale cellular automata (CA) model of austenite-ferrite phase transformation. To facilitate the research, proposed micro scale CA model was implemented within developed universal object-oriented programming framework CAF. Description of major assumptions and functionality of the developed numerical system including efficient Graphical User Interface (GUI) is presented in the paper. The intuitive visualization of data obtained in different length scales facilitates work with the software.

The purpose of the paper is to present the author’s reflections on the origin and popularity of various approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes, their terminological consistency, understanding, and practical application of their principles. The author’s reflections are based on his observations made over his many years of activity as a lecturer and consultant in the area of production engineering and management. It was shown that there is a need to make scientists and practitioners aware of the relatively large degree of freedom in defining the scope and way of application of strategies of continuous improvement. The author’s proposal is to refer to all approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes with the title “Strategies of Efficient Action” and all supporting methods as “Practices of Efficient Action”. Considerations presented in the paper can be useful in more and more efficiently applying the power of TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other strategies of processes maintenance and improvement in the daily activities of companies.

In this article method of a visualization of a process of injection and burning of the air-fuel mixture was presented in cylinder of engine GDI. Intention of the visualization is a possibility of a determining and a selection how the most profitable parameters of injection for the work of engine during burning of the various load. Apparatus of the firm AVL - VideoScope 513 D was used to performance of positional tests, having on purpose registration of a dislocation of the stream of the fuel from the moment of injection, one by one a reflection of fuel from of the bottom of the piston until for the connection under the spark plug, and next an expansion of the flame from moment of the ignition until to the end of process of burning. Results of carried out visualization are in form files of the type of avi. These files are intended to a presentation of a record of respective frames as a moving image. From editorial reasons in this article, results of visualization are presented in a form of single cinematographic frames following in turn after themselves what the certain degree of the angle of the rotation of the crankshaft. Values of angles for which next frames were presented are placed in a bottom left corner of a single frame. All executed registrations archive images in the function of angle of rotation of crankshaft no from one, but from many of the cycles of the work of engine

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a non-traditional machining process widely used in manufacturing to create complex geometries on hard-to-machine materials. The tool material used in EDM plays a crucial role in determining the machining performance and final surface finish of the workpiece. In this research, we aimed to optimize the tool selection for creating circular holes on SG iron (grade 450/12) using EDM. To this end, we employed a step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) based combined compromise solution (CoCoSo) approach to evaluate the performance of different tool materials under various machining conditions. The machining conditions considered in this study included peak current (I), pulse-on time (Ton), and inter-electrode gap (IEG). The results of our study showed that the CoCoSo approach is an effective method for tool selection in EDM, and it can be used to identify the optimal tool material and machining conditions for creating circular holes on SG iron. The final appraisal scores obtained from the ranking of tool materials indicated that copper tools scored highest (2.4767, ranking 1), followed by copper tungsten (2.3615, ranking 2), while brass scored lowest (1.6606, ranking 3). Furthermore, Spearman's rank correlations for different integrated MCDM techniques were performed, which demonstrated the efficacy of this technique. It has been demonstrated that implementing the SWARA-CoCoSo method can effectively optimize the EDM process with regard to sustainable machining practices.

Opis:
A process is an ordered set of related activities taking place in a given time. Processes are present in all branches of the economy, engineering, science, etc. Due to the huge amount of data produced the rapid development of data mining techniques has been observed. Similar methods are also used in the context of processes and are called process mining. The main task of process mining is to create a process model, which is used to reason about the process and to make decisions inside it. The process model may be used to discuss responsibilities, simulations, predictions, etc. The main data structures in process mining are event logs. It is always very important to have correct data which makes creating a reliable process model possible. In this paper the basic guidelines for recording such event logs have been described and conclusions were drawn. The main focus of this research was transport problems.
