Opis:
The paper shows the results of a comparison of simplified models describing a two-dimensional water flow in the example of a water flow through a straight channel sector with a cavern. The following models were tested: the two-dimensional potential flow model, the Stokes model and the Navier-Stokes model. In order to solve the first two, the boundary element method was employed, whereas to solve the Navier-Stokes equations, the open-source code library OpenFOAM was applied. The results of numerical solutions were compared with the results of measurements carried out on a test stand in a hydraulic laboratory. The measurements were taken with an ADV probe (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter). Finally, differences between the results obtained from the mathematical models and the results of laboratory measurements were analysed.

Opis:
Based on the potential flow theory and traditional boundary element method (BEM), Taylor expansion boundary element method (TEBEM) is introduced in this paper for the prediction of the flow field around ship, as a result, hull gesture and pressure distribution on hull surface are obtained. By this method, dipole strength of every field point is expanded in Taylor expansion, so that approximately continuous hull and free surface boundary condition could be achieved. To close the new equation system, the boundary condition of tangent velocity in every control point is introduced. With the simultaneous solving of hull boundary condition and free surface condition, the disturbance velocity potential could be obtained. The present method is used to predict the flow field and hull gesture of Wigley parabolic hull, Series 60 and KVLCC2 models. To validate the numerical model for full form ship, the wave profile, the computed hull gesture and hull surface pressure of KVLCC2 model are compared with experimental results.

Opis:
Induced air pressure and resulting free surface profile due to air cushioning layer is studied. The study is mainly focused on 2D blunt circular bodies with constant downward speed. The problem is first solved for the air flow between the body and the free surface of the water. Then the results are employed to solve the problem for the water problem, numerically. Both air and water problem are assumed to be governed by Laplace potential equation. Depending on the induced pressure and velocity of the escaping air flow from cushioning layer, compressibility of the air is also included in the modeling. Gravitational acceleration is also included in the model. An iterative boundary element method is used for numerical solution of both air and water problems. Instantaneous pressure distribution and free surface profile are evaluated for different bodies. The results of calculation for large blunt bodies show that inviscid potential method can fairly approximate the problem for large blunt bodies. Additionally, the behavior of the air pressure for the very blunt body is impulsive and the magnitude of the peak pressure is in order of impact pressure of water entry. The obtained results are compared with analytical method. The comparison shows that as the bluntness of a body increases, the better agreement is concluded.

Opis:
In order to quickly obtain practical ship forms with good resistance performance, based on the linear wave-making resistance theory, the optimal design method of ship forms with minimum total resistance is discussed by using the non-linear programming (NLP) method. Taking the total resistance as the objective function (the Michell integral is used to calculate the wave-making resistance and the equivalent plate friction resistance formula is used to calculate the frictional resistance), the hull surface offset as the design variable and appropriate displacement as the basic constraints, and considering the additional constraints, the hull bow shape and the whole ship are optimised, and an improved hull form is obtained. The resistance of the ship before and after optimisation is calculated by the CFD method to further evaluate the resistance reduction effect and performance after optimisation. Finally, an example of optimisation calculation of an actual high-speed ship is given. The obvious resistance reduction results confirm the reliability of the optimisation design method.

Opis:
The hydrodynamic interaction effects between two vessels that are significantly different in size operating in close proximity can adversely affect the safety and handling of these vessels. Many ship handling simulator designers implement Potential Flow (PF) solvers to calculate real-time interaction effects. However, these PF solvers struggle to accurately predict the complicated flow regimes that can occur, for example as the flow passes a wet transom hull or one with a drift angle. When it comes to predicting the interaction effects on a tug during a ship assist, it is essential to consider the rapid changes of the tug’s drift angle, as the hull acts against the inflow creating a complicated flow regime. This paper investigates the ability of the commercial PF solver, Futureship®, to predict the accurate interaction effects acting on tugs operating at a drift angle during ship handling operations through a case study. This includes a comparison against Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and captive model tests to examine the suitability of the PF method for such duties. Although the PF solver can be tuned to solve streamline bodies, it needs further improvement to deal with hulls at drift angles.

Opis:
The paper describes the problem of discrete formulation of plane fluid flows in material description. The investigation is confined to chosen cases of stationary potential and vortex motion of an incompressible inviscid fluid within circular domains with perfect boundaries. The paths of fluid particles are obtained by numerical integration of momentum equations within a discrete time space. Brownian type random disturbances are attached to the displacement field obtained by the integration. It has been shown, that the discrete formulation may lead to solutions in which a small distance between two material points may grow to a relatively large value after a finite elapse of time. The last feature of the procedure may be a serious drawback of the discrete formulation in the material variables.

The composition of widespread electronic devices (mobile phone, computer mouse, keyboard, web-camera, monitor) was studied by manual dismantling. The material flow analysis was conducted for e-waste components. For the case study of Ukraine, five devices under investigation contain over 4 thousand tons / year resources. Most of them (first of all, plastic and metal) can be easily recovered. The content of chemical elements in the components of the electronic devices was determined by X-ray fluorescence analysis. Taking into account the mass of electronic waste generated in Ukraine, the resource potential of metals was estimated. Most of metals are concentrated in mobile phones and monitors (about 2000 tons/year). Apart from common metals, silver, molybdenum, vanadium, rubidium, zirconium, antimony, yttrium, rhodium, bismuth, and gallium were also found.

This article considers the questions of creating the Euro-region on the example of Lugansk region, Ukraine. International, inter-regional cooperation is an important component in the development of foreign economic relations of Ukraine. Reforming of social - economic relationships in Ukraine, structural rearrangement of all mechanisms of society vital functions creates the background for the acceleration of territorial development of every region, first of all at the expense of beneficial geographical position and technological accessibility of transport - logistic service.
