Opis:
Geophysical logs of borehole F-380 drilled through the Jeziórko sulphur deposit near Tarnobrzeg are interpreted in terms of mineral composition and porosity. Measurements were made from a standard set of logs by Geokar Geophysical Co. and from using university prototype logging equipment developed for shallow boreholes. Comparative analysis was made of GR and gamma ray spectroscopry, density, neutron-gamma, epithermal neutron, and acoustic logs. The interpretation yielded values for the volume of limestone, clay mineral content, sulphur content, and porosity while the barite content in the sulphur deposit was determined from a four-log set (GR, neutron-gamma, density, and acoustic). A gamma ray log with the uranium window subtracted, GRS, used instead of GR, gave the distinct drop of shaliness and caused the distinct changes of sulphur content for selected intervals of the section examined. To test the geophysical interpretation, the sulphur content of core samples of limestone was determined by three different techniques: ICP-AES analysis, sample combustion in the LECO automatic analyser and X-ray phase analysis. Clay mineral identification in the overburden was attempted using the Th vs. K cross-plot. Acoustic full wavetrains were used for rapid identification of formation zones with different elastic parameters. The dynamic coefficient of rock elasticity, i.e. the Poisson coefficient, was obtained from P-wave and S-wave velocities, determined in situ from acoustic full wavetrains.

Opis:
New parameters are proposed to evaluate the filtration properties of rocks obtained on the basis of 3D interpretation of images from X-ray computed tomography. The analyzed parameters are: global average pore connectivity, average blind pore connectivity, blind pore coefficient per object and blind pore coefficient per branch. The 3D pore space from computed X-ray tomography must be subjected to a process of pore space transformation into a skeleton. Then, the presented parameters can be evaluated, taking into consideration the pore channels (branches), pore channel connection points (junctions) and blind pores (pore without connection to the other pore). The calculations were made for low porosity sandstones, mudstones, limestones, and dolomites which differ in terms of age and depth of present deposition. The global average pore connectivity reflects the degree of development of the pore space in which the formation fluid can flow. The higher the global average pore connectivity, the most complex the pore structure can be expected. The higher the parameter of the average blind pore connectivity, the worse are the filtration properties of the rock. The higher the concentration of blind pore coefficient per object or branch, the worse the filtration properties of the rock. Moreover, new parameters were compared with the Euler characteristic and coordination number, revealing a high consistency.

Opis:
The tolerance of damage rule progressively meets the approval in the design casting parts procedures. Therefore, there were appeared the new challenges and expectations for permanent development of process virtualization in the mechanical engineering industry. Virtualization is increasingly developed on the stage of product design and materials technologies optimization. Increasing expectations of design and process engineers regarding the practical effectiveness of applied simulation systems with new proposed up-grades modules is observed. The purpose is to obtain simulation tools allowing the most possible realistic prognosis of the casting structure, including indication, with the highest possible probability, places in the casting that are endangered with the possibility of shrinkage– and gas porosity formation. This 3D map of discontinuities and structure transformed in local mechanical characteristics are used to calculate the local stresses and safety factors. The needs of tolerance of damage and new approach to evaluate the quality of such prognosis must be defined. These problems of validation of new models/modules used to predict the shrinkage– and gas porosity including the chosen structure parameters in the example of AlSi7 alloy are discussed in the paper.
