Opis:
The study assesses the effects of a six-week plyometric training program (PT) on muscle stiffness in the dominant and non-dominant leg in male collegiate volleyball players. The study group comprised 16 volleyball players who had played collegiate volleyball for at least four years. For six consecutive weeks, twice a week, the players undertook a plyometric program of 60-min training sessions, each preceded with a specialist warm-up. The analysis of the anterior muscles of the right and the left lower leg revealed a significant increase in stiffness in the muscles of the right leg and the left leg. No significant differences were found between the anterior muscles of the left lower leg and the right lower leg in particular weeks of the training program. The analysis of the posterior lower leg muscles revealed no significant differences, either in the consecutive weekly training microcycles or between the left leg and the right leg. The measurement of muscle tone and biomechanical properties of muscles can be used as a fast and direct assessment of plyometric training-related muscle fatigue. A similar level of muscle stiffness in both lower legs (symmetry) is a reflection of the appropriate selection of plyometric training loads.

Opis:
Purpose: Lower extremity power is an important physical capacity of a soccer athlete. Power represents, and can be modified by, the training of strength and speed. Pre-season and in-season training differs in the relative emphasis on these two quantities. It is nevertheless desirable that the mechanical power remain the same or become higher during the in-season period. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in quantities related to “explosive strength” and to check whether, in collegiate female soccer players, pre- and inseason lower extremity power will remain unaltered. Methods: Twenty collegiate female soccer players, representing all field positions, participated. Lower extremity power was assessed by a series of drop jumps executed from four different heights (15, 30, 45, and 60 cm). Mechanical power was calculated using subject’s mass, jump height, and acceleration due to gravity. This value was further normalized by body mass of each athlete to obtain the relative (or normalized) mechanical power. Results: The normalized lower extremity mechanical power was highest when landing from the 30 cm height for both pre- and inseason periods. However, contrary to expectations, it turned out lower during the in-season than during the pre-season test, even though no significant differences were found between the corresponding jump heights. Conclusions: It is concluded that altered, perhaps inadequate, training strategies were employed during the in-season period. Besides, advantages of adding the relative mechanical power as a season readiness indicator are underlined compared with relying on the jump height alone.

Opis:
Objective. the goal of this “systematic review” and meta-analysis is to find out the efficacy of exercise regimes on balance in badminton players. Study design. Systematic review and meta-analysis. data Source. Pub Med, “Cochrane database (Cochrane Central register of controlled Trials)”, google Scholar, Springer, and DoAJ. Eligibility criteria. limits were applied to database searches to identify papers published in English and only human studies were included. results. result of Meta – analysis was statistically significant in “anterior component of Y-balance test” (MD = 2.39, 95% ci = 1.90, 2.89; “p ≤ 0.00001”) with low heterogeneity (i² = 0%, p < 0.41). There was statistically significant improvement in postero-medial component of y- balance (MD = 2.87, 95% ci = 0.55, 5.19; p ≤ 0.02) with “moderate heterogeneity” (i² = 39%, p < 0.19). result showed statistically significant improvement in postero-lateral component of y- balance test (MD = 3.09, 95% ci = 0.64, 5.65; p ≤ 0.02) with “moderate heterogeneity (i² = 38%, p < 0.20)”. There was “statistically significant “improvement in overall balance of y-balance test in “experimental group as compared to control group (MD = 8.49, 95% ci = 4.62,12.36; p ≤ 0.0001) with low heterogeneity (i² = 0%, P < 0.47)”. Conclusion. this systematic and meta-analysis concluded that various exercise protocols may result in improvement in the balance of badminton players. PrOSPErO registration number: crD42020193620.
