Mezyn National Natural Park
Opis:
Mezyn National Natural Park is in the north part of the Korop District of the Chernihiv Region, 310 km2 in area, is characteristic for its strongly dismembered landscape that stipulates presence of varied localities, among them there are exterminated glaciofluvial plains, slopes and super streamside terraces. Aim of research included an expose of the value of the Mezyn NNP in maintenance of forest diversity of vascular plants and forest communities. In the Mezyn NNP there are 772 species of spontaneous flora, 194 species of the cultivated flora and 18 rarity species. The rarest species are concentrated in the centre and the east, prats of the park richer in vegetation cover. In the forest group of the Mezyn NNP 10 species of vascular plants are recordered in the Red book of the Ukraine. The wooden territory of the Mezyn NNP presents 38% and provides the variety of ecotopic terms after they provides a wide spectrum of representation and protection of forest species of vascular plants and corresponding phytocommunites.

Opis:
Abrus precatorius L. is a leguminous plant of family fabaceae. Plant parts are widely used for medicinal purpose in different region of the world. Seed behavior and phytochemical evaluation of different solvent extracts (i.e. Petroleum ether, Ethyl acetate, Methanol & Water) of leaf and seed of red, white and black varieties of Abrus precatorius L. is carried out in the present study. This study indicates presence of different phytoconstituents i.e. alkaloids, steroids, glycosides, proteins, etc. the present study concludes that the plant parts can be used as very good natural remedy to diagnosed variety of dieses.

Opis:
The object of the study was to investigate the influence fertilization on the β-glucan content of the common oats varieties (Vendelin, Zvolen) and the naked oats varieties (Detvan, Avenuda). The trial was established in the years 2007 and 2008 in the potato growing area in the centre of Slovakia in VígľašPstruša. The field treatments were realized in natural conditions without irrigation with four variants of fertilization. Nitrogen fertilization was applied before sowing and foliar application of selenium together with nitrogen was done in the growth phase at the end of stooling (BBCH 29). The amount of β-glucan in the samples was determined by using the β-glucan assay kit (Megazyme, Ldt. Ireland). The total average of β-glucan content in the experiment was 4.08 %. The naked oats varieties reached higher content of β-glucan, when we compare it with the common oats. The variety Avenuda reached highest of β-glucan content (5.20 %). The nitrogen fertilization together with selenium fertilization statistically significantly increased the content of this polysaccharides. The influence of a particular year was statistically significant in β-glucan content.

Opis:
As the impact of global climate change increases, the interaction of biotic and abiotic stresses increasingly threatens current agricultural practices. The most effective solution to the problem of climate change and a decrease in the amount of atmospheric precipitation is planting extremely drought-resistant and high-yielding crops. Sorghum can grow in harsh conditions such as salinity, drought and limited nutrients, also it is an important part of the diet in many countries. Sorghum can be introduced in many zones of Kazakhstan. Plant height and yield of green plant biomass of 16 sorghum samples in arid conditions were determined based on a set of agrobiological characteristics for field screening. The height of the studied samples of grain sorghum was 0.47 ±0.03 m, and the height of sweet sorghum was much longer, reaching up to 2.88 ±0.12 m. Also, there was a strong difference in green biomass in cultivated areas under different soil and climatic conditions, the green biomass of sweet sorghum was 3.0 Mg∙ha-1, and in grain sorghum, it reached up to 57.4 Mg∙ha-1. Based on the data of the field assessment for various soil and climatic conditions, the following samples were identified for introduction into production: samples of sweet sorghum for irrigated and rainfed lands of the Almaty Region and in the conditions of non-irrigation agriculture of the Aktobe Region - a promising line ICSV 93046. For non-irrigation agriculture of the Akmola Region, genotypes of sweet and grain sorghum are ‘Chaika’, ‘Kinelskoe 4’ and ‘Volzhskoe 44’.

Opis:
Nitrogen rates and plant density are two important practices for optimum production of cotton. Field experiment was conducted at two locations within the Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Jalingo (longitude 11° 09’ and 11° 30’ East and latitude 8° 17’ and 9° 01’ North) in Nigeria to investigate the influence of nitrogen rates and plant density on yield components of cotton cultivars. A 4 × 3 × 2 factorial of four nitrogen (N) rates (0, 120, 150, 200 kg/ha), three cotton varieties (Jalingo Local, Samcot-13, Sketch-8) and two plant densities (44,444 and 60,000 plants/ha) was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) and replicated three times. Data were collected on cotton seed yield, lint yield and number of seeds/boll. Nitrogen rate, plant density and variety had a positive effect on cotton seed yield, lint yield and number of seeds/boll. Nitrogen rates at all levels significantly (p< 0.05) increased the seed and lint yield of cotton when compared with control. However, the differences in yield between 150 kg N/ha and 200 kg N/ha rate was not significant making nitrogen rate of 150 kg N/ha more economical and optimum for cotton seed yield. Low plant population gave rise to higher seed yield. Interactively, the 150 kg N/ha × Jalingo Local × low plant density (44,444 plants/ha) gave the highest cotton seed and lint yield.

Opis:
This study is devoted to floral and soil science research conducted in Samica Leszczyńska Valley (Dolina Samicy Leszczyńskiej). The investigated hydrogenic soils contained a large amount of organic substance. It determined low specific density, low bulk density and high total porosity. Furthermore, water capacity was high at each pF potential, also within highly-bound water. Despite high soil-ground water level, the process of moorshing process has already begun the investigated soils. In epipedones, negative effects of organic matter decession were visible, especially the decrease of porosity and the increase of acidification. The investigated area is endangered with natural dehydrating degradation. Taking into consideration its unique ecological character, it requires special protection.
Przedstawiono wyniki badań florystycznych i gleboznawczych, przeprowadzonych w Dolinie Samicy Leszczyńskiej. W epipedonach widoczne były negatywne efekty decesji substancji organicznej, przede wszystkim spadek porowatości i wzrost zakwaszenia. Obszar badań zagrożony jest naturalną degradacją odwodnieniową. Zważywszy na jego unikalny, ekologiczny charakter wymaga on szczególnej ochrony.
