The article presents a general description of the safety problem in Polish road transport in the years 2002-2019. The number of road accidents was analyzed in detail, taking into account the division into side, front and rear collisions and the dynamics of their changes. The article contains information on the dynamics of changes registered in passenger vehicles and trucks in Poland in the years 2000-2018. Moreover, the number of fatalities in road accidents in the years 2002-2019 was presented, taking into account the type of collision. The forecasts of changes in the number of road accidents and rear collisions presented in the article show the downward trend for the years 2020-2030 of frontal collisions. An inconspicuous rear collision by not braking a speeding vehicle carries a high risk of damage to the upper cervical spine. As a result of such a collision, even at a low speed of 20 km/h, they can cause irreversible health effects, which lead to permanent disability.

This paper considers a method for indirect measuring the vertical displacement of wheels resulting from the road profile, using an inverse parametric data-driven model. Wheel movement is required in variable damping suspension systems, which use an onboard electronic control system that improves ride quality and vehicle handling in typical maneuvres. This paper presents a feasibility study of such an approach which was performed in laboratory conditions. Experimental validation tests were conducted on a setup consisting of a servo-hydraulic test rig equipped with displacement, force and acceleration transducers and a data-acquisition system. The fidelity and adequacy of various parametric SISO model structures were evaluated in the time domain based on correlation coefficient, FPE and AIC criteria. The experimental test results showed that inverse models provide accuracy of inversion, ranging from more than 70% for the ARX model structure to over 90% for the OE model structure.

The measurements were performed in a wide range of ambient temperatures from –18°C to +25°C. In order to obtain such conditions the tests were carried out in a climate chamber.

The effects of additional cavities and air-gaps in the acoustic response of a passenger vehicle are investigated. It is observed that the cabin cavity and the trunk cavity of the passenger vehicle are connected through an aperture in the rear seat. In the trunk cavity of the vehicle, there are two more air-gaps which are designed as countermeasures to trunk lid slam noise. It is established that acoustic modes and acoustic eigenfrequencies of the vehicle are altered through the trunk cavity and its air-gaps. To develop an analytical solution, the actual acoustic cavity is simplified into a rectangular shape. In the analytical solution, the coupling of trunk and cabin cavities is considered. It is shown that the computational analysis results match well with the results of the analytical solution proposed. Further, the resonator effect of air-gaps present in the trunk cavity is examined.

Opis:
The portfolio of the automotive market appears more and more low-emission and zero-emission propulsions in vehicles. This is the result of measures taken to limit or even eliminate the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere generated by vehicles. The article covers issues related to energy conversion in automotive drive systems currently offered by automotive manufacturers. Standard, hybrid, hybrid plug-in, electric and fuel cells drive system were analyzed. Attention was drawn to the chain of energy transformations related to each of the analyzed drive systems. The efficiency of the presented vehicle drive systems was analyzed. General conclusions were formulated regarding the method of analyzing energy changes related to the operation of automotive propulsion systems. The article reviewed selected author's own works on hybrid and hydrogen propulsion.

The noise is the one of negative elements influencing human health. This article aims at the measurement of noise emitted by road vehicle and its parts during the operation. The measurement was done with a digital sound meter in the interior of common passenger cars. The results compare the noise value in different cars with different body shape, which influences the drivers health.

The paper presents a significant problem related to reasonable use of electric power by the Polish railway. A general principle serving for developing an energy balance is presented, particularly with reference to the traction vehicles. The use of specific energy consumption is emphasized, that enables comparing similar types of railway vehicles. The factors affecting the energy efficiency of the rail system are specified. In conclusion, the future measures allowing to improve this efficiency are itemized.
W artykule przedstawiony został istotny problem związany z racjonalnym wykorzystaniem energii elektrycznej przez polską kolej. Przedstawiona została ogólna zasada tworzenia bilansu energetycznego, a także jej odniesienie do pojazdów trakcyjnych. Podkreślono stosowanie jednostkowego zużycia energii jako narzędzia do porównania podobnego rodzaju pojazdów kolejowych. Zestawione zostały czynniki wpływające na efektywność energetyczną systemu kolei. Na zakończenie artykułu podano kierunki działań mających poprawić tę efektywność.

The article discusses the development of the world EV fleet in years 2010-2017. Estimates of fleet of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and BEV in the world are presented. The total number of PHEVs registered in the world in 2016 was roughly 800 thousand (650 thousand in EU). Despite the fact that the sale of electric vehicles has increased considerably in recent years, in particular over 1.1 million in 2017, and also hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) to approx. 760 thousand in 2017. The article also discusses the development of the electric vehicles market and annual new registrations of vehicles in a breakdown into respective countries. China is the definite leader in this area. In 2017 there were almost twice more BEVs registered in China than in the US and EU together. While the increase in the sale of BEVs in years 2016-2017 in the EU and the US accounted for approx. 50%, it came to over 90% in China. Among eight top worldwide BEV producers, there are four Chinese manufacturers. In the analysed 2017, there were slightly more than 7 thousand of hydrogen-fuelled passenger cars (FCEV) in use, with over 3,500 in the US, 2,300 in Japan and approx. 1,200 in Europe, and several hundred hydrogen-fuelled buses and several dozen hydrogen-fuelled trucks. The article also addresses the development of hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) in recent years in different countries in the world, bearing in mind that the quantitative development of the hydrogen-fuelled car fleet is strongly associated with the number of hydrogen refuelling stations.

The main aim of this study is to carry out dynamic finite element analysis of a collision between shunting locomotive and a passenger car. Numerical simulations include side impact of the running locomotive in the vehicle situated across the track on a level crossing. A considered locomotive based on a popular diesel-electric shunting locomotive SM42 but it was slightly modernized in comparison with the original. Finite element model of the locomotive was developed by the authors whereas the vehicle FE model was download from the National Crashworthiness Analysis Center database and it was dedicated to the crash/impact analyses. FE analysis was carried out according to the PN-EN 15227 standard which provides crashworthiness requirements for railway vehicle bodies. However, additional objective of the analysis was to evaluate the behaviour of a small passenger car during the side impact with about 70-ton locomotive. A subcompact passenger car – Geo Metro – was selected as a representative for the study. One of the design collision scenario impact into low obstacle for railway vehicles operated on national and regional networks. LS-DYNA computer code was used for the simulations. The paper presents selected results of analysis generally focused on the locomotive frame behaviour. Contour of stress for the moment of time is presented. Moreover, time histories of selected parameters are depicted. The energy balance was also checked in order to confirm the accuracy of analysis.

In the regulations concerning approval of light vehicles starting from September 2019 it will be necessary to conduct exhaust emissions tests both on a chassis dynamometer and for real driving emissions. It is a legislative requirement set forth in EU regulations for the purpose of the RDE (Real Driving Emissions) procedure. To decide on the RDE route for the purpose of the LV exhaust emissions tests many requirements must be fulfilled, regarding for example external temperature and the topographic height of the tests, driving style (driving dynamic parameters), trip duration, length of respective test sections (urban, rural, motorway, etc.). The works on outlining RDE routes are continued across the country in various research centres. Specifying the RDE route for test purposes, i.e. works in which the authors of this article are actively involved, has become a major challenge for future approval surveys concerning the assessment of hazardous emissions from light vehicles and for development studies focusing on - for example - the consumption of energy in electric and hybrid vehicles. The test route has been chosen to ensure that the test is performed on a continual basis. Data were recorded on a constant basis with the minimum duration of the test achieved. The test involved light vehicles and PEMS device for measuring the exhaust emissions, vehicle’s speed, completed route, etc. The device was installed in such manner as to ensure that its impact on the exhaust emissions from the tested vehicle and on the device’s operation is the least. The vehicle load was consistent with the requirements of the standard and included the aforesaid measurement device, the driver and the operator of PEMS. The tests were carried out on working days. The streets and roads used for the tests were hard-surfaced. Measurements were performed in accordance with the requirements of RDE packages (Package 1-4), i.e. taking into account - among others - the engine cold start. The article discusses the method of outlining the test route fulfilling the specific requirements for RDE testing. Chosen results of exhaust emissions from a passenger car with a spark-ignition engine along the defined RDE test route have been provided. The tests discussed in the article are introductory in the area of RDE tests and provide an introduction into further studies of exhaust emissions and energy consumption in real driving conditions in conventional vehicles and vehicles with alternative engines, e.g. hybrid and electric vehicles.

The analysis of transportation flow andtechnical condition of cargo-carrying vehicles and buses has showed the need in the research of its influence on the passing density on signalized intersections. The indicator which reflects this influence is represented by light motor vehicle passenger car equivalent (PCE). The need in determining a passenger car equivalent for differently structured transportation flows is demonstrated not according to the recognized methodology, but according to the one developed by the authors which takes into account both diverse structure and the level of technical condition of road users. The latter one decreases launching dynamics of vehicles which depart from the stop line. The respective passenger car equivalents are determined for such a structure of traffic flow. These calculations differ from already known and normative ones. Due to the simulation (the VISSIM program) of passing at an intersection with the use of calculated passenger car equivalents which take into account the technical condition of vehicles, traffic delays on the main direction were defined as decreased by 7.6% for respective duration of permissive signal on a traffic light.

The paper presents the analysis of ride comfort of a railway vehicle based on the results of numerical simulations for a model of a passenger car moving along a tangent track with random geometrie irregularities. The lateral and vertical rms accelerations in 1/3 octave frequency bands as wen as the weighted rms accelerations are calculated at several positions within the car body for two track sections with different track condition and for various vehicle velocities. The obtained accelerations are compared with the comfort and decreased fatigue boundaries according to the ISO 2631-1 and PN-91/S-04100 standards.
W pracy przedstawiono analizę komfortu jazdy pasażera pojazdu szynowego na podstawie wyników symulacji numerycznych dla modelu wagonu pasażerskiego poruszającego po torze prostym i sztywnym o losowych nierównościach geometrycznych. Wyznaczono poprzeczne i pionowe przyspieszenia skuteczne w pasmach tercjowych oraz odpowiadające im przyspieszenia ważone dla różnych położeń pasażera wewnątrz nadwozia pojazdu. Badania przeprowadzono dla dwóch odcinków toru o różnym stanie utrzymania oraz dla różnych prędkości jazdy. Otrzymane przyspieszenia porównano z wartościami granicznymi określonymi w normach ISO 2631-1 i PN-91/S-04100.

This paper is focused on contemporary posibilities of replacement diesel-powered railcars by accumulator powered railcars in regional railway traffic. In the first part of the paper, there are described advantages and disadvantages of this replacement. In the second part are presented the simulation counts and the simulation results of the drive of an accumulator powered railcar on the railway line Šumperk - Kouty nad Desnou. At the last part of this paper is shown the experimental accumulator powered railcar, which was built at University of Pardubice, and the energy research, that is realized with this railcar at railway line Mladějov na Moravě - Hřebeč.
Dieses Beitrag ist auf zeitgenössische Möglichkeiten Ersatz Diesel-Triebwagens durch den Akkumulator Triebwagens im Regionaleisenbahnverkehr ausrichtet. Im ersten Teil des Beitrages gibt es beschriebenen Vorteile und Nachteile dieser Ersatz. Zweiten Teil präsentiert die Simulations zählt und die Simulation Ergebnisse der Antrieb eines Akkumulators angetrieben Triebwagen auf der Bahnstrecke Šumperk - Kouty nad Desnou. In der letzten Teil dieser Arbeit ist die experimentelle Akkumulator betrieben Triebwagen, die an der Universität Pardubice gebaut wurde, gezeigt und der Energieforschung, dass mit dieser Triebwagen auf Eisenbahnlinie Mladějov na Moravě - Hřebeč realisiert ist.
