Routes of bus or tram lines have often common passages with non negligible length. It is desirable that the time intervals between subsequent departure times of trips of all lines on such a common passage are distributed as equally as possible. This paper studies coordination problem on an isolated common passage and also more complicated coordination problem in transportation network.
Trasy autobusów lub tramwajów mają często wspólne fragmenty przejazdu o nieznikomej długości. Pożądane jest, by odstępy czasowe pomiędzy kolejnymi czasami odjazdów wszystkich linii takiego wspólnego przejazdu były rozmieszczone tak równo, jak jest to tylko możliwe. Artykuł przedstawia problem koordynacji na pojedynczym wspólnym przejeździe, a także bardziej złożone zagadnienie koordynacji w sieci transportowej.

Opis:
The article discusses the possibility of the application of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in passenger rail transport. The NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a wireless and contactless technology of transmission of radio data over short distances (max. 5 cm). This technology is very similar to the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. It is assumed that this technology will spread rapidly and that already in 2015 around 85% of the payments in the EU will be made via mobile phones. This paper presents a research of passenger interest in this method of payment for tickets in the passenger rail transport in Slovakia. Further, an analysis of the applications of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in passenger rail transport, including the protection of data in mobile phones, the processes in case of losing a mobile phone and ensuring the communication between both parties was presented in the article. The last part of this analysis shows the possibility of purchasing tickets regardless of the carrier and the transport type.
W artykule opisano możliwe zastosowania technologii NFC jako systemu sprzedaży biletów w pasażerskim transporcie kolejowym. Technologia NFC (Near Field Communication) jest bezprzewodową i bezdotykową metodą transmisji danych na krótkie odległości (max. 5 cm). Jest ona bardzo podobna do technologii RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Zakłada się, że będzie się ona szybko rozwijała i już w 2015 roku 85% płatności dokonywanych na terenie Unii Europejskiej nastąpi za pośrednictwem telefonów mobilnych. W artykule przedstawiono badania oceniające zainteresowanie pasażerów tą metodą zakupu biletów kolejowych na Słowacji. Przedstawiono w nim także planowane zastosowania technologii NFC jako systemu sprzedaży biletów w pasażerskim transporcie kolejowym, z uwzględnieniem ochrony danych w telefonach komórkowych, czynności w przypadku utraty telefonu komórkowego i zapewnieniem komunikacji pomiędzy elementami systemu. Przeanalizowano w nim także możliwość zakupu biletów niezależnie od przewoźnika oraz rodzaju transportu.

W artykule przedstawiono sytuację polskiego transportu kolejowego podczas pierwszej i drugiej fali pandemii COVID-19. Nakreślono zauważalne trendy wykorzystania transportu kolejowego. Przedstawiono podstawowe parametry, jak: liczba pasażerów, ilość przewiezionych towarów, wskaźniki obrazujące stan przewozów kolejowych w 2020 i 2021 roku. Do poznania zagadnień wykorzystano przegląd literatury, tj. pozycje zwarte, artykuły naukowe oraz analizę danych statystycznych z Raportów Urzędu Transportu Kolejowego.
In this article the situation of Polish rail transport during the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic is presented. Noticeable trends of rail transport usage are outlined. Basic parameters such as the number of passengers, the amount of goods transported indicators depicting the state of rail transport in 2020 and 2021 are shown. To learn about the issues, a review of the literature was used, i.e. compact items, scientific articles, and an analysis of statistical data from the Reports of the Railway Transport Office.

The task of increasing efficiency and quality of public transport has gotten special acuteness for large cities of Russia in connection with expansion of service by commercial carriers. There have no works done on the city of Omsk, where the transport system has its own characteristics. In this paper, characteristics of Omsk urban public transport are researched. The scheme that clearly demonstrates what factors have a negative impact on the development and functioning of the Omsk passenger transport system is developed. The measures that improve the efficiency of the passenger transportation system and provide an opportunity to advance the implementation of logistics principles are proposed. The activities took into account the experience of reforming the public transport system in other cities, the characteristics of the Omsk city system and a view to engagement of other scientists in this field of science.

The objective of the paper is to present different types of solutions which could improve interconnectivity of passenger transport especially within interconnections between long and short transport distance. The topic has particular relevance at the European level because the European transport networks' role as integrated international networks is compromised by poor interconnectivity and because the next generation of European transport policies will have to be sensitive to the differences between short, medium and long-term transport markets and the market advantages of each transport mode. In this context, a realistic assessment of intermodal opportunities is a key ingredient to future policy development. Effective interconnection requires the provision of integrated networks and services which are attractive to potential users and this is likely to require co-operation between a range of authorities and providers in the public and private sectors and may necessitate a wider vision than might otherwise prevail. The paper is based on the results of the project realised by the team of the University of Gdansk in the EU funded 7 Framework Programme - INTERCONNECT (Interconnection between short- and long-distance transport networks) with partners in the UK, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Spain and Italy. Different types of solutions will be summarized in the paper including e.g. local link infrastructure solutions, improved local public transport services, improvements at the interchange, solutions involving improved procedures for check-in or luggage transfer & documentation, pricing and ticketing solutions, solutions involving marketing, information and sales.
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie różnych rodzajów rozwiązań, które mogą poprawić integrację w transporcie pasażerskim, szczególnie w aspekcie powiązań między transportem długiego i krótkiego zasięgu. Zagadnienie to ma szczególne znaczenie na poziomie europejskim, ponieważ rozwój europejskich sieci transportowych może być blokowany przez złe powiązania, a również dlatego, że w przyszłości cele europejskiej polityki transportowej będą musiały być w coraz większym stopniu wrażliwe na zróżnicowanie rynków transportowych różnego zasięgu oraz na korzyści uzyskiwane z funkcjonowania gałęzi transportu. W tym kontekście realistyczne podejście dla potencjalnych możliwości powiązań międzygałęziowych wydaje się być istotnym elementem przyszłego rozwoju polityki transportowej UE. Efektywne połączenia międzygałęziowe wymagają odpowiedniej sieci transportowej i usług, które są atrakcyjne dla potencjalnych użytkowników, czego z kolei nie można zapewnić bez współpracy między władzami a operatorami na rynku transportowym zarówno w sektorze prywatnym, jak i publicznym. Artykuł powstał na bazie wyników projektu INTERCONNECT (Interconnection between short- and long-distance transport networks), w którego realizację włączeni byli autorzy. W projekcie partnerami były instytucje z 6 krajów europejskich. W artykule dokonano zestawienia najważniejszych rozwiązań usprawniających powiązania międzygałęziowe w transporcie pasażerskim, począwszy od rozwiązań w zakresie lokalnych połączeń infrastrukturalnych, poprzez poprawę lokalnych usług transportu publicznego, usprawnienia w węzłach przesiadkowych, ułatwienia w zakresie procedur odprawy i transferu bagażu oraz dokumentacji, rozwiązania w zakresie integracji biletowej i cenowej, marketingowe, aż do tzw. rozwiązań usprawniających.

The objective of this contribution is the application of a new methodology for assessing connectivity in passenger transport regarding selected tariff points accessibility in the context of developing the selected region. From the passenger´s point of view, it is necessary to specially assess the accessibility of lines within transportation, between the selected destinations using passenger air transport. The length of the travel time, the number of necessary transfers and the number of travel opportunities affects the possibilities of transport between place A and B. The connections and lines are thus influenced by many factors. This is the basic point to consider when designing a set of evaluation criteria for assessing the connectivity and in carrying out a case study for a specific region. In this paper, Václav Havel Airport in Prague (Czech Republic) with selected air transport connections were evaluated according to the proposed methodology.

In this study, a methodology was developed for transport plan selection of intercity trains in railway network using the method of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). For studying the transport plan, the following indicators have been chosen: the transport satisfaction, average number of train stops, average distance travelled, average speed, reliability, availability of service with direct transport and transport capacity. The methodology includes determination of variant schemes of transportation; determination of the number of trains by criterion of minimum direct operating costs for transportation of each variant scheme using linear optimization model; application of AHP method to define the weights of criteria and ranking the variants schemes; and selection of an optimal transport plan according to the criterion of a minimum ratio of normalized direct operating costs to the AHP score. The methodology was experimented in Bulgarian railway network.

The article provides an overview of passenger transportation on local and international routes by the Lithuanian railways. It identifies the reasons due to which passenger transportation has become increasingly loss-making. Also, factors that may encourage a greater number of people to travel by train are disclosed. The development of this sector up to 2030 is reviewed, i.e. a forecast for increasing the number of passengers, a perspective for the development of electric, diesel trains, passenger wagon fleet, and the levels of estimated investments are provided. It was established that after implementation of the measures envisaged, losses in the passenger transportation field could be cut by 2–3 times.

The article is devoted to the description of the current level of development of passenger transport system of the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. First of all, the possibilities of providing passenger traffic in international and intra-national (between regions of Russia) directions are assessed. Each of the types of transport in the region, which is involved in the provision of passenger services, is characterized. The information base of the study consists of statistical and analytical materials on the work of passenger transportation for 2016 and 2017. The main research method is the method of statistical comparison and expert analysis. The main conclusion of the study is that at present there is asymmetry in the role of various types of transport involved in providing passenger traffic between the Kaliningrad region of the main territories of Russia and foreign countries. In addition, a list of promising projects that can be implemented to intensify the Russian-Polish passenger traffic. It is necessary to implement new projects in the formation of passenger corridors, which will be aimed at expanding the possibilities of transport communication. The availability of alternative routes in a competitive environment leads to both an increase in the quality of transportation services provided and a reduction in their cost to the public.

The aim of the paper is to present the author’s attempt to adapt the Servqual Method to study the quality attributes of passenger air services. This market is witnessing a growing dynamic of competition intensity and a distinctive trend consisting of focusing on improving the quality of the most important determinants in basic areas of this business. The method of comprehensive evaluation of this process and its consequences on the Polish market has so far not been scientifically researched. The paper attempts to fill this gap. The proposed solution consists in the introduction of a new, previously unused, research method to the system of analysis, assessment and measurement of the air services quality, which constitutes a specific contribution to the science. Innovation of its application consists in a detailed reformatting of the Servqual Method and adaptation of both tested criteria and research areas to the nomenclature, specific requirements and conditions of this service sector. Using this method, it is possible to conduct a comprehensive range of tests taking into account the correctness, effectiveness of measurement, possibility of specifying the conclusions and recommendations as well as modernity of their implementation. The research questionnaire constructed by the author serves this purpose, in which the most important criteria and research areas of the discussed scope of services have been proposed.

One of the quality indicators of the transport service in passenger transport is the regularity of the movement of vehicles. Apart from the planned traffic intervals, it depends on a number of factors related to the traffic conditions of the public transport in the locality (intensity and composition of the traffic flow, passenger traffic structure, traffic lights regime, atmospheric conditions, etc.). The paper assesses the regularity of mass urban passenger transport traffic in the conditions of the city of Ruse, Bulgaria, by probing the estimation of the arrival intervals of the means of transport at the stops along a given route.

The lengthy timespan of thirty years shall be a playground of many changes and variations in all spheres of social life and technical world. Public transportation is an integral part of both mentioned fields and co-operates with their changes. The urban region of Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic, is the region with a strong core (city of Brno) and thus it is a rail hub as well. Since 1980, the whole urban region underwent several changes in an industrial structure (from industrialization and preference of heavy industries to de-industrialization and dominance of services), a social organization (transition from industrial to post-industrial patterns of life, from urbanization to suburbanization and subruralization), an arrangement of the settlement system (from densely-populated estates on the edges of the city to suburbanization) and transportation patterns (moving from public transportation to individual road transportation). The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of changes in train public transportation in Brno urban region between 1980 and 2010. As a basis of the analysis, timetables of 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010 were taken. There have been analysed all stations with commuting time of passenger trains during the day less or equal 60 minutes. Results of timetable analysis are put into the context of other socio-economic terms. The main outcomes show little changes in the length of transport time, in the distribution of trains during the day, in differences between weekday (in this paper Wednesday) and weekend, in the usage of express trains and in train lines. The paper also compares conditions before and after establishing the Integrated Transport System in South Moravia Region in 2004.

Opis:
Transport plays an important role in the economy of any country. Efficient and developed transport infrastructure of various modes of transport significantly affects the availability of transport services, and consequently, the well-being of citizens. This article presents an analysis of the volume of passengers and cargo transport using rail and road transport in Poland in 2009-2019. These analyses were carried out based on data obtained from the Central Statistical Office. All data concerns Polish entities that provide services in the field of passenger and freight transport in Poland and focuses on such information as the volume of passengers and cargo by individual means of transport, broken down into domestic and international transport. Further, the presented analyses concern the length of the available rail and road routes, tracks, the size of the rolling stock as well as the groups of transported loads.
