Opis:
Pain which accompany the delivery is for pregnant woman (no matter if primapara or multipara) a source of worries and fear of pain. Delivery and accompanying pain means a big physical and psychical burden for both mother and newborn. This usually causes the stress reaction. Currently exist a variety of possibilities how to relieve woman and reduce pain. In delivery rooms are often used pharmacological and non-pharmacological ways of pain relief. None of those methods can remove the pain completely. Pain is the inseparable part of every delivery.

Opis:
Gastro-esophageal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours of the digestive tract. Pain is common in these cancer patients, particularly in the advanced stage of disease when the prevalence is estimated to be more than 70% contributing to poor physical and emotional well-being. The objective of this review is to illustrate the incidence of Gastro-esophageal cancer and demonstrate different methods to control pain related to Gastro-esophageal.

Opis:
In dentistry nowadays, local anesthesia is the standard and the backbone for controlling pain Every year, researchers seek and develop new ways in which pain can be alleviated and managed better to ensure patient comfort by focusing on improving aspects such as anaesthetic agents, delivery devices and the techniques involved. The introduction of newer techniques assists dentists in providing enhanced pain relief with reduced pain from injection and fewer adverse reactions. Objective. The purpose of this overview is to highlight the mechanism and efficacy of certain anaesthetic agents, emphasizing complications associated with local anesthesia, as well as the modern techniques that have been developed to improve patient comfort and reduce pain while performing anaesthesia.

Opis:
Objectives To prospectively investigate if the risk of chronic neck/shoulder pain is associated with work stress and job control, and to assess if physical exercise modifies these associations. Material and Methods The study population comprised 29 496 vocationally active women and men in the Norwegian Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT Study) without chronic pain at baseline in 1984–1986. Chronic neck/shoulder pain was assessed during a follow-up in 1995–1997. A generalized linear model (Poisson regression) was used to calculate adjusted relative risks (RRs). Results Work stress was dosedependently associated with the risk of neck/shoulder pain (p trend < 0.001 in both sexes). The women and men who perceived their work as stressful “almost all the time” had multi-adjusted RRs = 1.27 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.1–1.47) and 1.71 (95% CI: 1.46–2), respectively, referencing those with no stressful work. Work stress interacted with sex (p < 0.001). Poor job control was not associated with the risk of neck/shoulder pain among the women (RR = 1.04, 95% CI: 0.92–1.19) nor the men (RR = 1.09, 95% CI: 0.95–1.26). Combined analyses showed an inverse dose-dependent association between hours of physical exercise/week and the risk of neck/shoulder pain in the men with no stressful work (p trend = 0.05) and among the men who perceived their work as “rarely stressful” (p trend < 0.02). This effect was not statistically significant among the women or among men with more frequent exposure to work stress. Conclusions Work stress is an independent predictor of chronic neck/shoulder pain and the effect is stronger in men than in women. Physical exercise does not substantially reduce the risk among the persons with frequent exposure to work stress.

Opis:
Purpose: The appearance of pathology in the lumbar spine, such as a previous episode of low disc herniation or non-specific low back pain contributes to improper activation of the hip muscles. The aim of the study was to detect alterations in hip strategy manifested by differences in balance parameters and rectus femoris and gluteus maximus activity in people with previous episode of pain radiation to one lower limb caused by low disc herniation or non-specific low back pain. Methods: We studied 11 patients with history of low-disc herniation, 9 patients with history of non-specific low back pain and 10 healthy subjects. Hip strategy alterations were detected by measuring rectus femoris and gluteus maximus activity in bilateral surface polyelectromyographic recordings and by stability measurements on a balance platform. Results: In the surface polyelectromyography study, in both patients' group the value of the average amplitude was higher and the amount of the fluctuations was lower than in healthy subjects. There were no significant differences in stability parameters. Conclusions: A changed pattern of hip muscles activity was detected in the patients without changes in stability parameters. Greater disorder occurs in people in with previous episode of pain radiation to one lower limb caused by low disc herniation than in people with non-specific low back pain.
