    IT tools supporting the BPM approach developed rapidly in the last 10 years. Initially were available simple solutions for modeling and optimization of business processes. The next generation has offered business process implementation and monitoring in the real environment of the organization. Finally user requirements forced vendors to add a bit of “intelligence” to their applications and iBPMS entered on the market. The iBMPS market is still immature but some trends can be seen. The source for such analysis can be found in analytical reports provided by renowned research and advisory companies. In this paper was presented analysis of BPMS and iBMPS markets based on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reports from years: 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

    The article presents the essence of the method of value stream mapping on the example of a selected production process in an automotive company. The analysis presented in the paper concerned the indication of potential organizational possibilities of actions aimed at implementing changes in the organization based on the results of measuring the process with the use of the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) indicator. All stages of the production process were explained, which allowed to obtain the results of the process efficiency analyses. Further on, the results of the analysis of process improvement in accordance with the PDCA approach are discussed. The significance of establishing the method in order to improve the functioning of the process and the meaning and usage of the value stream mapping methodology in building successful relations with the end customer were emphasized. The undertaken activities constitute a research gap defined as follows: the effectiveness of management methods in an organization depends on the efficiency of using the applied indicators and reacting to changes. Thus, defining models with potential application capabilities in order to increase management effectiveness is one of the most important issues in the area of enterprise organization.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The aim of this article is to present selected research results in the field of optimization of energy cogeneration processes of heating systems based on biogas sources, in terms of the possibility of obtaining ecological and energy benefits in the municipal area. Design/methodology/approach: The considerations are a case study, including an analysis of the choice of the optimal variant of agricultural biogas construction in the Łobez Municipality in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship from the point of view of both the substrate used in biogas and the proposed technological solutions. The subject matter focuses on comparing the estimated ecological effect of biogas with different powers and choosing the optimal model solution. The research process used secondary and statistical data and the selected comparative method to calculate the carbon dioxide emission reduction factor. Findings: The authors indicate which technology of obtaining energy should be dominant in the field of optimization of energy cogeneration processes of heating systems in Poland in areas dominated by agricultural economy. Research limitations/implications: The presented research concerns the assessment of one of the parameters (substrate used in biogas) affecting the optimization of biogas production. Future research in this area should focus on the assessment of other factors determining the validity of the discussed solutions in relation to the adopted state policy in the field of development of renewable energy sources and agricultural economy. Practical implications: The results of the research are the first approach to indicate the government and regional administration the type of energy that may form the basis of the future strategy of changes in the field of energy cogeneration of heating systems in municipal and agricultural areas in Poland. Social implications: The description of the agricultural biogas model, which served as an example, can be helpful in the process of identifying benefits not only for the environment but also as an element stimulating economic and social development at the local and regional level. Originality/value: An experimental research approach may be helpful in understanding the essence of optimization of energy congregation processes of heating systems based on biogas sources in selected areas of Poland.

    Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology is being used more and more often in small and medium enterprises. This tool is becoming increasingly important in relieving workers from time consuming and boring tasks. The aim of the research was to identify current problems encountered by enterprises when implementing RPA solutions, with particular attention paid to the aspect of change perceived by the employees and the management. As part of the empirical work, monographic research was conducted using the case study procedure in 10 selected small and medium-sized companies operating in Poland. During expert interviews, workers’ resistance against changes was noticed as the greatest obstacle in introducing RPA. Workers’ lack of knowledge about this technology and its tools and the lack of proper change management in organizations are the main factors which impede implementation of RPA. The core actions to success in implementation of software robots are: building awareness among workers, support of leaders, and monitoring of implementation progress.
    Technologia Robotic Process Automation (RPA) jest coraz częściej wykorzystywana w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach. Narzędzie to nabiera coraz większego znaczenia w odciążaniu pracowników od czasochłonnych i żmudnych zadań. Celem badań było zidentyfikowanie aktualnych problemów napotykanych przez przedsiębiorstwa przy wdrażaniu rozwiązań RPA, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem aspektu zmiany postrzeganej przez pracownika i kadrę zarządzającą. W ramach pracy empirycznej przeprowadzono badania monograficzne z wykorzystaniem procedury studium przypadku w 10 wybranych małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach działających w Polsce. Podczas wywiadów eksperckich za największą przeszkodę we wprowadzaniu RPA uznano opór pracowników wobec zmian. Brak wiedzy pracowników na temat tej technologii i jej narzędzi oraz brak odpowiedniego zarządzania zmianą w organizacji to główne czynniki utrudniające wdrożenie RPA. Kluczowymi czynnikami sukcesu podczas procesu wdrażania robotów softwarowych są: budowanie świadomości wśród pracowników, wsparcie liderów, monitorowanie postępów wdrożenia.

    The aim of the paper is to present the concept of a digital twin (DT) as part of the Industry 4.0 strategy. In the form of a case study, a digital twin of a production line for the processing of engine blocks is presented, which will serve as a starting point for further research in the field of digitization of production processes. The research part describes the simulation model of the production line with the representation of the material flow as a basis for the creation of a digital twin. The simulation model was used to optimize the production processes of the engine block and to verify the increase in its productivity. A case study implemented through a digital twin enables testing and analysis of changes before they are introduced into real production.

    Opis:
    In the paper a method of the best variant selection of the manufacturing process of a spindle with a collapsed balloon crown of a ring spinning frame is presented. The method implements the original optimisation procedure based on the given criteria, taking into consideration the importance of the criteria. The unit manufacturing cost and five criteria of the manufacturing quality were taken as the assessment criteria, and the knowledge of experts was used to determine the importance of the criteria given for assessment. Each expert built his own importance matrix of the assessment criteria, comparable in pairs, using the Saaty method. On the basis of a cumulative matrix the weights of individual criteria were determined. The criteria of the assessment obtained from calculations and measurements were normalised. In the next stage, normalised decisions were created by raising each assessment to a power equal to the corresponding weight. In the last stage of the proceedings a single, optimal alignment comprising the smallest s-th components of the individual decisions d1, d2, …, dm was created. The variant which corresponds to the largest component of the optimal alignment is assumed as the best.
    W pracy przedstawiono metodę wyboru najlepszego wariantu procesu wytwarzania wrzeciona z nasadką antybalonową przędzarki obrączkowej. Zastosowano ryginalną metodę postępowania optymalizacyjnego ze względu na przyjęte kryteria z uwzględnieniem ich ważności. Jako kryteria oceny przyjęto jednostkowy koszt wytwarzania oraz pięć kryteriów jakości wytwórczej. Do określenia ważności przyjętych do oceny kryteriów wykorzystano wiedzę ekspertów. Każdy ekspert zbudował macierz ocen ważności kryteriów, porównywalnych parami, metodą Saaty’ego. Na podstawie macierzy zbiorczej wyznaczono wagi poszczególnych kryteriów. Kryteria oceny uzyskane z obliczeń i pomiarów poddano normalizacji. Następnie utworzono decyzje unormowane przez podniesienie każdej oceny do potęgi równej odpowiedniej wadze. W ostatnim etapie utworzono jedno uszeregowanie optymalne, którego składnikami są najmniejsze s-te składniki poszczególnych decyzji d1, d2, …, dm. Wariantem najlepszym jest ten, któremu odpowiada największy składnik uszeregowania optymalnego.

    The central problem of the paper is grouping details in the conditions of FMS (flexible manufacturing system). The criteria for forming rational detail groups were identified and. The statistical analysis of details characteristics was based on the database of products for the electronic industry. The paper proposes a mathematical method of grouping using accumulated data on the processing objects, which employs the group-ing criteria. By employing such an approach we are presented with details grouped according to normative indicators of FMS equipment loading or minimum loss on their readjustment within the group of technological adjusting for every robotic technological complex (RTC).

    Opis:
    In the era of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the rapid development of modelling in production processes results in the implementation of new techniques, such as additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. However, large investments in the devices in the field of AM technologies require prior analysis to identify the possibilities of improving the production process flow. This paper proposes a new approach to determine and optimize the production process flow with improvements made by the AM technologies through the application of the Petri net theory. The existing production process is specified by a Petri net model and optimized by AM technology. The modified version of the system is verified and validated by the set of analytic methods safeguarding against the formal errors, deadlocks, or unreachable states. The proposed idea is illustrated by an example of a real-life production process.
