Modern robotics brings up a variety of new challenges. Industrial-only times are gone forever. Nowadays, by performing many diversified services, robots turned out to be a part of our everyday life. There is no doubt that they should be able to interact with this new miscellaneous environment seamlessly. Along with the number of requirements, the importance of software increases. While gaining more autonomy, besides standard motion control, a wide range of cogntive tasks has to be executed simultaneously. It is quite obvious that complex systems with a lot of independent modules and many functions to perform need flexible and reliable sofware solutions. This article takes a Real-Time Operating System as an answer to the problems of the new generation robotics.By comparing selected features, it provides an evaluation of the most popular commercial and non-commercial solutions. Paper describes the key characteristics that should be taken into consideration during the design process and presents several examples of their successful robotic applications, including our own choices for decentralized controllers.

Purpose: This study identifies and analyzes the factors that impact the financial performance of companies after a merger and acquisition transaction. Methodology: As many as 130 Polish market observations were analyzed with an OLS regression model to verify the research hypotheses. Results: The results reveal that the company’s size, performance before the transaction, and its international nature translated into improvement of post-transaction financial performance. Moreover, industry diversification transactions and CEO changes in acquiring a company had a negative impact on the company’s financial performance after the transaction. Originality: This investigation is the first study devoted to the Polish market in the research field of M&A determinants with the use of such a large sample.

Control charts are commonly used in plants to monitor the correctness of manufacturing process, due to their simplicity and explicitness of diagnosis. Qualification mistakes make that the signals, appear either with lag, or in case of regulated process. False signals, as well as lack of appropriately early signal make financial loss. The purpose of this article is to pay attention to shaping of middle – operating control costs, especially in case of appearance of qualification mistakes. The accepted hypothesis states that qualification mistakes cause considerable increase in the middle – operating control costs.
Karta kontrolna jest powszechnie stosowana do monitorowania prawidłowości przebiegu procesów produkcyjnych, ze względu na prostotę prowadzenia i jednoznaczność diagnozy. Popełniane błędy obniżają jednak jej skuteczność. Błędne sygnały, jak i brak odpowiednio wczesnego sygnału narażają przedsiębiorstwo na straty. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na kształtowanie się kosztów kontroli międzyoperacyjnej, szczególnie w przypadku występowania błędów kwalifikacji. Postawiona została hipoteza głosząca, iż błędy kwalifikacji przyczyniają się do znacznego wzrostu kosztu kontroli międzyoperacyjnej.

Paper presents results of studies on a parametric method of predicting ship operating costs - useful in the preliminary ship design. Conception and theoretical basis of the method are presented, identified are also factors of significant importance for the ship operating costs, taking into account changes in the value of money. Approximation formulae for estimating the operating cost components have been developed as well as a computational algorithm based on a minimum Required Freight Rate (RFR). The useful character of the method is illustrated by examples of operating cost predictions for four different ship types designed in the Eureka project E!2772, i.e.: SINE 202 universal container carrier, SINE 203 oil product tanker, SINE 204 ro-ro ship and SINE 205 river-sea ship.

Currently used criteria for determining car operating efficiency in road traffic are, among others, emission of harmful substances, consumption of engine driving fuels, technical service and reliability of operation, safety of use. The operational characteristics of the car in terms of engine driving fuel consumption data is usually recognized as so-called road specific fuel consumption. An important deficiency of this approach is the failure to take into account the influence of the time on the journey’s effectiveness and the final result of the entire project. To obtain a new solution in this range in the analysis, a quantity called "action", which at last will be treated as the criterion of the car operating effectiveness, was used. The quantity of action is the product of the performed work and its realisation time. Many phenomena and processes in nature take place according to the principle of "minimum of action" - this criterion can be applied in the analysis of the car’s operating efficiency taking place in road traffic. An approach of this issue is presented in this article, wherein the basic data for analysis were obtained in the framework of the car tests performed at the real traffic conditions.
Kryteriami efektywności eksploatacji samochodów aktualnie stosowanymi są m.in. te dotyczące: emisji substancji szkodliwych, zużycia materiałów pędnych, obsługi technicznej i niezawodności eksploatacji, komfortu oraz bezpieczeństwa użytkowania. Charakterystyka eksploatacyjna samochodu w zakresie wielkości zużycia materiałów pędnych (benzyna, olej napędowy, LPG) ujmowana jest zwykle jako tzw. Drogowe (objętościowe, masowe) zużycie paliwa. Istotnym niedostatkiem takiego podejścia jest fakt nieuwzględniania w analizie wpływu czasu realizacji podróży na wynik całego przedsięwzięcia. W tym celu wykorzystano wielkość zwaną „działaniem”. Wiele zjawisk i procesów zachodzi według zasady „minimum działania”, dlatego też kryterium to może znaleźć zastosowanie w analizie efektywności ruchu drogowego. Takie ujęcie zagadnienia przedstawiono w artykule, przy czym podstawowe dane do analizy pozyskano w ramach testów zrealizowanych w warunkach ruchu drogowego.

In this study the focus is on the Enactment of Law No.17 of 2008, concerning shipping has experienced a lot of improvements in the function of Harbor Harbor Safety and Security. Safety and security issues in shipping are a big responsibility in port. Syahbandar (Harbourmaster) has the highest authority to carry out and supervise the fulfillment of the provisions in the legislation to ensure the safety and comfort of the voyage. The aim of this research is to examined the supervision system of port authority on the activities of loading and unloading dangerous goods in the port of tanjung perak surabaya. This type of research carried out in this research is to use descriptive research. The results of the study show that the application of work standards in the field is not yet optimal in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures so that the task in supervising dangerous goods has not been carried out properly, inadequate facilities and infrastructures at the Port thus reducing the function of the Port in the supervision of dangerous goods and the limited number of personnel at the Port of Tanjung Perak so that services in the supervision of dangerous goods are less than optimal. A superconducting field-effect transistor (SuFET) based transducer (sensor) with carbon nanotubes (CNT) or pickup coil kind of input circuit for the nerve and neuron impulses, DNA recombination signals, flows of biochemical molecules, micro- and nanoscopy, and biosusceptibility has been designed. A nanoSuFET with a high-temperature superconducting channel is introduced into the nerve fibre or brain tissue for transducing their signals in both directions. Pickup coils are implanted into an organism in order to obtain the natural or artificially excited biosignals from the organs and tissues. The range of picked up signals varies from 0.6 nA to 10 žA with frequencies from 20 to 2000 Hz. The output signal lies in the range of (-5¸5)V, (7¸0)×1017/cm3 molecules and (2¸10) pH. The sensitivity of this micro- or nanoscope can be estimated as HJ= 10-4 (A•m/?Hz) with SNR equal to 104. The sensitivity of an advanced first-order biogradiometer is equal to 3fT/?Hz. The smallest resolvable change in magnetic moment detected by this system in the band 10 Hz is 1 fJ/T.

Communication platform systems as, e.g., advanced telecommunication computing architecture (ATCA) standard blades located in standardized chassis, provides high level communication services between system peripherals. Each ATCA blade brings dedicated functionality to the system but can as well exist as separated host responsible for servicing set of task. According to platform philosophy these parts of system can be quite independent against another solutions provided by competitors. Each system design can be different and can face with many computer systems design problems. One of the most difficult design problems to solve is system integration with a set of components running on different operating system levels. This paper presents Linux scheduler improvement possibility to make user space application classified as time demanding (required to be serviced by CPU in given amount of time) running in user space together with complicated kernel software structure in the system.

In order to improve operation skill of the operators, the design of the auxiliary intelligent operating system of the dragline was studied. Whereby the gyroscopes incorporated in smartphone and data sequence filter algorithm, the automatic collection function of operation cycle, the rotation angle and other parameters of the dragline are attained. In line with the relations among the rotation angle of equipment operation, time-spent and the acceleration, the ratio of the acceleration and deceleration rotation angle in full load rotation and non-loaded return stage are acquired respectively. The function of bucket in rotation was realized. Comprehensive score calculation standard of the technique level of the dragline-based operation was developed, and the function of automatic checking the operation level was effectuated. Field experiment results indicated that the operators’ faults are markedly reduced as the auxiliary intelligent operating system is employed. By using the system the operation behavior of low power slow rotation in rain, snow, low atmospheric pressure and other severe weather conditions can be reduced, assuring all-weather efficient and safe operation of dragline.

High cleanliness of a hospital environment is necessary to ensure safe working conditions for the medical staff, a correct process of hospitalization and to protect hospital visitors, an aspect rarely mentioned. A supply of air cleaned in highly-effective air filters to hospital wards with air conditioning systems and exhaust of infected air will help in maintaining the required standards of cleanliness. This article presents information on recommended classes of air and surface cleanliness, with special focus on operating theatres and suites.

Ventilation and air conditioning systems are necessary for developing proper parameters of indoor environment in operating rooms. The main task of ventilation and air conditioning in those specific areas consists in creating desirable temperature, reducing the number of microorganisms and the concentrations of hazardous gases and substances in the air, as well as ensuring the proper direction of airflow. In Poland, indoor environment in operating rooms has to comply with the requirements set out in three regulations (Journal of Laws of 2002 No. 75, item 690, as amended, Journal of Laws of 2002 No. 217, item 1833, Journal of Laws of 2011 No. 31, item 158, as amended) and the document entitled "Guidelines for the design of general hospitals". Given insufficient accuracy of the abovementioned national documents, it is a common practice to use foreign standards, i.e. ASHRAE Standard 170-2013, DIN 1946-4: 2008 and FprCEN TR 16244: 2011. When considering the conditions for thermal comfort, it is important to bear in mind a close link between air flow velocity and air temperature. Air in the zone occupied by patients and medical staff must not cause the sensation of draft. Furthermore, air velocity should be sufficient to eliminate interference caused by the presence of people and other sources of heat. It should also reduce the turbulence level in the air in the operating room. Efficient functioning of ventilation and air conditioning was tested during treatments and operations carried out on three wards of a Warsaw hospital. Tests were performed with the participation of medical staff from various surgical units. They were asked to perform minor manual tasks to simulate work on the operating table, and to complete a questionnaire on subjective thermal sensation. The applied methodology is widely used during testing of general and local ventilation in public buildings. Air temperature, relative humidity, air flow supply and exhaust air from the operating room were deter-mined on the basis of VelociCalc 8360 and Testo 435 anemometers with a 3-function probe and 3 vane probes with the diameter of 16 mm, 60 mm and 100 mm. Throughout the study, microclimate conditions in the operating rooms were controlled by the EHA MM101 microclimate meter. Test results showed that the microclimate parameters met the requirements of the aforementioned documents. However, individual thermal sensations reported by the medical staff pointed to the lack of thermal comfort and, in extreme cases, e.g. when using lead aprons during operations, perception of the thermal environment as ‘very hot’. The efficiency and type of air distribution in operating rooms has a decisive effect on the results.

Experimental investigation of heat transfer during pool boiling of two nanofluids, i.e. water-Al203 and water-Cu has been carried out. Nanoparticles were tested at the concentration of 0.01%, 0.1%, and 1% by weight. The horizontal smooth stainless steel tubes having 10 mm OD and 0.6 mm wall thickness formed the test heater. The experiments have been performed to establish the influence of nanofluids concentration on heat transfer characteristics during boiling at different absolute operating pressure values, i.e. 200 kPa, ca. 100 kPa (atmospheric pressure) and 10 kPa. It was established that independent of nanoparticle materials (A1203 and Cu) and their concentration, an increase of operating pressure enhances heat transfer. Generally, independent of operating pressure, sub- and atmospheric pressure, and overpressure, an increase of nanoparticle concentration caused heat transfer augmentation.

Multiple different filesystems — including disk-based, network, distributed, abstract — are an integral part of every operating system. They are usually written as kernel modules and abstracted to the user via a virtual filesystem switch. In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of reimplementing the virtual filesystem switch as a userspace daemon and applicability of this approach in real-life usage. Such reimplementation will require a way to virtualize processes behavior related to filesystem operations. The problem is non-trivial, as we as-sume limited capabilities of the VFS switch implemented in userspace. We present a layered architecture comprising of a monitoring process, the VFS abstraction and real filesystem implementations. All working in userspace. Then, we evaluate this solution in four areas: portability, feasibility, usability, and performance. Our results demonstrate possible gains in the use of a userspace-based approach with monolithic kernels, but also underline problems that are encountered in this approach.
