The provision of mentoring is essential for learning to take place, and current online technology is changing the nature of mentoring. This study examines the effectiveness of e-mentoring and develops its management practice. This study extensively uses historical reviews to seek a better policy for e-mentoring. It covers the literature on different forms of mentoring, including books, journals, online documents, research reports, and newspaper articles related to e-mentoring. Based on the findings from the literature, this study suggests that e-mentoring compares well to those of other mentoring approaches traditionally used. The study gives an overview of e-mentoring tactics, practices, and strategies. The findings of this will be useful for national and international policymakers and stakeholders, in promulgating effective e-mentoring policies.

Online learning is nothing new, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, this form of education has become the preferred and sometimes the only option available as a result of social distancing and nationwide lockdowns. This unprecedented change has triggered a number of previously unknown problems and has forced students to find ways of coping with them. This study investigates the dark sides of online education and coping strategies developed by students by drawing on insights from coping theories to explain students’ adaptive responses. The study is based on qualitative data collected in an online survey of 27 students of tourism from a public university in Poland. The most frequent problem reported by the respondents were technical issues occurring during classes, followed by the lack of motivation and commitment, difficulties with sustained attention and the lack of contact with peers. The majority of students coped with stress caused by the negative aspects of technology in online education by engaging in physical activity. The findings of the study could contribute to guiding the direction for effective and student-friendly adoption of online education.

This study investigates the process of designing the functionalities of an online learning platform put forward by three types of its users: students, academics and admin staff. Moreover, the study intends to get an insight into the impact the attitudes of the participants of the instruction process have on the process of the platform construction. The case study design was used to see if users of an online learning platform could contribute to defining its functionalities in the areas of creating and sharing classes remotely, conducting tests, tests and exams and advanced reporting of student activity. Moreover, the author wished to learn if different platform users would put forward similar platform functionalities. It was discovered that the parties involved in the platform construction processes may, first of all, have a lot to offer in terms of the platform functionalities and should therefore be involved in the platform construction process. Second of all, although their contributions as far as the functionalities of the platform are concerned may have a lot in common, there are certain aspects of the platform which only people involved in seemingly narrow areas can come up with.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the university education system in Albania to operate in distance through information and communication technologies. The purpose of this study is to explore students’ perceptions about accessibility, learner intentions, social and lecturer issues in online learning. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the quantitative method is used. The data are collected online through the completion of a survey which contains closed questions. The sample included in this study are students of bachelor and master degree (N = 236) who belong to the teaching programs from the University of Tirana and “Aleksander Moisiu” University of Durrës. The study points out some challenges faced by students during online learning which are related to online accessibility, lack of motivation of students and the barrier of their involvement in online group work activities. It was also noted that the online environment presents challenges for lecturers, which require a better mastery of digital competence by the academic staff. The findings of this study are designed to help policymakers, education executives and academic staff to have a clearer view and make the necessary interventions to overcome these challenges faced by students during online learning.

The article focuses on stories, revealing personal experiences related to the technology-mediated education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and storytelling as a tool in qualitative research. Stories and storytelling may play an important part in qualitative research through presenting a unique, subjective view, which may contribute to the universal perspective. The transition to online teaching has been related to the pandemic, that constitutes a traumatic experience, generating further difficult experiences of an individual nature, which need to be told and shared. That is why, the research through storytelling in the context of the transition to online reality, caused by the pandemic seems to be adequate. Stories as natural phenomena to the human psyche and everyday existence may provide an interesting insight into online teaching, which might have been lost in the limitations of other research tools.

Purpose: Digital Economy development is influenced by many factors, including the users' acceptance of the technology. The interesting group of users are technologically advanced and may shape the technology's use and enhance its development. The purpose of the study is to explore the way customers are present on the Internet, and their attitudes to ethics and responsibility in the virtual environment. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted on a representative group of 1002 adult Internet users from Poland. The CAVI method on the research consumer panel was used. The authors empirically examine the developed research hypotheses using statistical tests. Findings: The study results show that advanced technology users have a more conscious approach to their presence on the Internet. Technology advanced users are familiarised with the tools and applications that may supper them with everyday activities and ease their professional duties. They are also more concerned about ethical and safety issues. At the same time, as consumers of technology, they are ready to disclose personal data if some benefits are seen. Originality/value: Research results support the development of understanding online activities of Internet users. They indicate some crucial points for a technology provider in designing and improving new tools and applications. Technology advanced users as testers can spread the technology appliances and support their acceptance if they find them ethical and safe. It leads to the development of the digital economy and benefits the whole society.

According to the theory of technological determinism, the development and popularisation of communication techniques has led to the emergence of two groups of participants in internet discourse: (1) those who have been ‘immersed’ in the Internet since childhood – digital natives – and (2) those who remember functioning in the offline world – digital immigrants. The main goal of this article is to present the interpenetration of the needs and demands of digital education and the implementation of these demands in the academic environment. The first part of the article presents the main theories related to the topic and attempts to periodise the phenomenon of education at universities undergoing virtualisation. The second part presents research conducted with the use of the CATI method on a sample of 433 students and 133 university teachers concerning the IT revolution at universities related to the SARS-COV2 pandemic and the need to move classes from lecture halls to virtual spaces. The last part of the article answers the hypotheses posed: (1) the initial dysfunctions of the education process in universities were due to the institutions’ unpreparedness for the remote environment and (2) in the opinion of the respondents, the remote education process is not as effective as education in a lecture hall. The conclusions of the study indicate that it is necessary to systematically fund research on remote teaching methodology and tools for effective distance learning. In addition to research, it is also advisable to conduct training and continuously implement new practical solutions in the workplace so that the new media serve teachers and students. In order for distance education to be effective, it is necessary to redefine the use of new media, move away from control towards collaboration and allow students to take ownership of the learning process.

Applying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to public service delivery contributes to transparency, accountability, and cost-saving to improve administrative efficiency. This application has become an inevitable trend for administrative reform worldwide. This paper examines the policy of promoting ICT in public service delivery and its implementation in Vietnam. Recently, the Vietnamese government has created a thoroughly legal foundation to develop information infrastructure for public service delivery. However, online public service delivery results are still lower than expected, and the online service index in Vietnam has just reached the average level of the world. Therefore, to encourage citizens to use online public services, the government should improve the personal identification data system and promote propagating and popularize online public services. The government also should protect personal data and administrative system security to ensure organizational system safety and efficiency.

Мета роботи – провести емпіричну перевірку впливу підприємницької компетентності на ефективність бізнесу з використанням бізнес-додатків на базі Інтернет-технологій. Дизайн/Метод/Підхід дослідження. Дослідницька група – - представники малих та середніх підприємств (МСП) у місті Таракан. Визначений зразок ґрунтується на спостережуваній площі; застосована методика – метод області імовірнісної вибірки. Метод аналізу даних – часткове моделювання квадратних структурних рівнянь (PLS-SEM), розроблене WarpPls 6.0. Результати дослідження. Показано, що компетентність підприємництва має позитивний вплив на бізнес-додатки, засновані на Інтернет-технологіях. Крім того, бізнес-додаток на базі Інтернет-технологій опосередковує вплив компетентності підприємництва на ефективність бізнесу. Теоретичне значення дослідження. Результатами дослідження підтверджено теорію поглядів на основі ресурсів та заявлено, що конкурентна перевага підприємства походить з його унікального ресурсу. Практичне значення дослідження. Бізнес-додатки, засновані на Інтернет-технологіях, можна застосувати як стратегії підприємництва для підвищення ефективності бізнесу. Оригінальність/Цінність/Наукова новизна дослідження. Оригінальність цього дослідження полягає у характеристиці бізнес-додатків, що базуються на Інтернет-технологіях, як опосередкованих змінних між компетенцією підприємництва та результатами бізнесу. Обмеження дослідження/Перспективи подальших досліджень. Дослідження має свої обмеження, у ньому використано лише обмежені данні про малий та середній бізнесу у місті Таракан. У майбутніх дослідженнях вибірка може бути розширена у бік інших міст Індонезії.   Тип статті – емпіричний.
Цель работы – провести эмпирическую проверку влияния предпринимательской компетентности на эффективность бизнеса с использованием бизнес-приложений на основе Интернет-технологий. Дизайн/Метод/Подход исследования. Исследовательская группа – представители малых и средних предприятий (МСП) в городе Таракан. Определенный образец основан на наблюдаемой области; использованная методика –метод области вероятностной выборки. Метод анализа данных - это моделирование уравнений частичных наименьших квадратов (PLS-SEM), разработанное WarpPls 6.0. Результаты исследования. Показано, что предпринимательская компетентность положительно влияет на бизнес-приложения, основанные на интернет-технологиях. Кроме того, бизнес-приложения, основанные на интернет-технологиях, опосредуют влияние предпринимательской компетентности на эффективность бизнеса. Теоретическое значение исследования. Результатами исследования подтверждается теория представления на основе ресурсов и утверждается, что конкурентное преимущество предприятия основано на его уникальном ресурсе. Практическое значение исследования. Бизнес-приложения, основанные на интернет-технологиях, могут использоваться как предпринимательские стратегии для повышения эффективности бизнеса. Оригинальность/Ценность/Научная новизна исследования. Оригинальность этого исследования заключается в характеристике бизнес-приложений, основанных на интернет-технологиях, как посредниках между предпринимательской компетенцией и эффективностью бизнеса. Ограничение исследования/Перспективы дальнейших исследований. Исследование имеет свои ограничения; он использует только ограниченные исследовательские данные о МСП в городе Таракан. Будущие исследования могут расширить выборку из других индонезийских городов.   Тип статьи – эмпирический.
Purpose – to conduct an empirical test over the effect of entrepreneurship competency on business performance using Internet technology-based business applications. Design/Method/Approach. The research population is from small-and-medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the city of Tarakan. The determined sample is based on the observed area; hence, the technique is called probability sampling area. The data analysis technique is Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), run by WarpPls 6.0. Findings. This research's results indicate that entrepreneurship competency has a positive impact on Internet technology-based business applications. Besides, internet technology-based business application mediates the effect of entrepreneurship competency on business performance. Theoretical implications. The results support the Resource-Based View Theory, stating that the competitive advantage of an enterprise is derived from its unique resource. Practical implications. Internet technology-based business applications can be used as entrepreneurship strategies to develop business performance. Originality/Value. The originality of this research is the internet technology-based business application as a mediating variable between entrepreneurship competence and business performance. Research limitations/Future research. The research has its limitations; it only uses limited SME research samples in the city of Tarakan. Future research can expand the sample through other Indonesian cities.   Paper type – empirical.

Feedback is a complex issue that can be discussed from many perspectives. It can be given by teachers to students, by students to teachers, by students to students, by teachers to teachers. Moreover, nowadays thanks to technology our students can be offered automatic feedback that will be given to them immediately upon completing a task. Even though there are several texts dealing with feedback that students receive from teachers, it seems that not much research has been done on other types of feedback. This article aims to start a discussion on the different types of feedback as well as to show ways in which technology can be useful in terms of giving and eliciting feedback.
Informacja zwrotna to zagadnienie, które można omawiać z różnych perspektyw. Taką informację może przekazywać nauczyciel uczniom, uczniowie nauczycielom, uczniowie sobie nawzajem, nauczyciele sobie nawzajem. Co więcej, obecnie dzięki technologii uczący się mogą otrzymać automatyczną informację zwrotną, która generowana jest zaraz po ukończeniu zadania. W literaturze fachowej znajdziemy liczne artykuły dotyczące informacji zwrotnej, jaką nauczyciele kierują do uczniów, jednak wydaje się, że dotychczas niewiele badań poświęcono innym rodzajom informacji zwrotnej. Niniejsza praca ma na celu zwrócenie uwagi na tę kwestię oraz wskazanie sposobów wykorzystania technologii w kontekście informacji zwrotnej.

Aim. In efforts to handle the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, language schools in Kenya were forced to organise a smooth transition from physical to virtual classroom by incorporating educational technologies in virtual learning and teaching processes. Such a shift was new to teachers and required additional efforts to master the peculiarities of organising virtual English classes. Thus, this study aims to explore Kenyan ESL teachers’ perspectives towards the acceptance of educational technology integration in non-formal education. Methods. A qualitative approach was adopted in this study. Eleven teachers from two private foreign language schools participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews, where they answered questions based on the elements of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Results. The findings showed that most teachers’ approaches towards the acceptance of educational technologies were mainly positive and they intend to integrate them in their ESL classroom. The results of the qualitative data analysis also demonstrated that age is one of those personal characteristics that might hinder teachers’ willingness to adopt educational technologies while teaching ESL. Conclusions. This study also found that the variety of adopted educational technologies was not extensive. Therefore, teachers’ awareness, interest, and digital competences should be further developed. Practical application. The herein presented research findings are of a significant importance for the enhancement of teachers’ competences to apply educational technologies while teaching ESL in Kenya. It also has implications for the practice that is relevant for ESL teachers in non-formal education as well as curriculum organisers.

This analysis aimed to investigate the factors influencing the behavioural intention to use Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Thailand and Pakistan. The study was geared towards exploring the MOOCs, a relatively new technology platform allowing the spread of education and learning in various areas and fields and surpassing traditional online courses. The study adopted the UTAUT model with additional two variables of perceived autonomy and absorptive capacity. A quantitative method was applied using primary data collected from a sample of 490 and 513 respondents from Thailand and Pakistan, respectively. The sample size was composed of students in institutions of higher learning who were aware of MOOCs or intended to use them in their studies. The analysis was conducted using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and multi-group structural equation modelling (SEM). The study found that four variables (social influence, absorptive capacity, facilitating conditions and perceived autonomy) significantly influence the student intention to use MOOCs in Thailand and Pakistan. However, two variables (performance expectancy and effort expectancy) did not influence the student intention to use MOOCs in Thailand and Pakistan. The results indicated that the findings between the two countries were invariant. This study extended the model by Venkatesh et al. (2003), including two additional variables, the perceived autonomy and absorptive capacity. The study indicated various aspects related to the response of students using MOOCs. This study is especially beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic for determining factors that officials of higher institutions of learning should consider when implementing MOOCs and associated online learning programs to deliver quality education to students.
