Opis:
Noise is unwanted sound judged to be unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. Like air pollution, noise pollution is one of the serious matters of concern in urban areas. Noise pollution occurs when noise level exceeds certain limit and has deleterious effects on human health and wellness. The major sources of noise pollution are industries, road traffic, railways, airplane traffic and social celebrations. The traffic noise is notably high in cities due to higher density of population, frequent movement of people, good transport system coupled with increasing numbers of vehicles (on road). In this work, the assessments of traffic noise in Sambalpur city is presented. Twelve important locations were chosen for the assessment. Noise contours were drawn to visualize the spreading of traffic noise into its surroundings. At the same time, the effect of noise pollution on wellness of the exposed people was studied. The study shows that the traffic noise level and its effects, are both in an alarming stage in the city.

Opis:
Human activity is main source of all environmental pollutions. Noise is common environmental issuesthat cannot be generated without geospatial location. It has great impact on mankind such as physical disturbance, physiological disturbance and affects human health. The aim of this research work is to identify the geospatial noise level and mapping noise vulnerability in some part of Ibadan North East Local Government Area. DSLM and GPS are used for survey method in which sixteen different location points were selected for noise vulnerability. The Mathematical Model is used to calculate Equivalent continuous sound level for morning, afternoon and evening (Lm_a_e), mean noise level for the morning, afternoon, evening and Daily Average of Noise values were generated. World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation standard was used as a standard in this research because Nigeria Noise pollution bill is still under consideration in the National Assembly. ArcGIS software was used for analysis and noise zones were carved out based on WHO yardsticks. Noise vulnerability mapping generated shown that land uses within the study area were experiencing very higher noise levels which are risky to the environment and society. Environmental agency and Government should set standard values for the noise barriers by passing the noise bill in the National Assembly assiduously and soonest.

The effects of human age, type of computer, and noise on computer operators’ performance of a data entry task were investigated. Twenty male subjects aged 10–55 were assigned into 4 age groups each consisting of 5 persons. They performed the task for 15 min on desktop and laptop computers in a sitting posture under varying levels of noise. The mean number of characters entered per minute (MNCEPM) was statistically analyzed. Operators in the 16–25 age group achieved the highest rate of data entry at each level of noise investigated. Operators performed better on desktop than on laptop computers. Their performance decreased when noise level increased from 82 to 92 dB(A), but it improved at 102 dB(A). The effects of age and noise were statistically significant. However, the effects of the type of computer, the interactions between age and type of computer, age and noise level, and type of computer and noise were not found to be statistically significant.

In this paper, the relationship between Chinese speech intelligibility (CSI) scores of the elderly aged 60-69 and over 70 years old, and speech transmission index (STI) were investigated through the auralization method under different reverberation time and background noise levels (BNL, 40 dBA and 55 dBA). The results show that the CSI scores of the elderly are significantly worse than those of young adults. For the elderly over 70, the CSI scores become much lower than those of young adults. To be able to achieve the same CSI, the elderly, especially those over 70, need much higher STI and greater SNR than the young. The elderly aged 60-69 and over 70 need to improve their STI by 0.419 and 0.058 respectively under BNL 40 dBA, as well as 0.282 and 0.072 respectively under BNL 55 dBA, so as to obtain the same CSI scores as the young adults.

Opis:
This paper briefly describes method of noise-measuring tractor’s K700 cabin, obtained noise spectres were analysed and recommendations based on these results for noise decreasing in cabin K700 are proposed. Air noise penetrates into the tractor’s K700 cabin through panels, enclosures, apertures, chinks etc. Structural noise in the cabin is caused by vibrations transfer from sources along tractor frame through vibration isolators to cabin walls and carcass. At that, the main noise sources are engine case, air system, exhaust system, engine cooling system fan and also transmission case located under cabin floor. Every panel in the cabin has own intensity of sound waves radiation and thus contributes to forming of the sound field on the operator workspace. Therefore, it is important to know the sound pressure level near every panel into the cabin. It was state that at low frequencies, noise from left windshield prevails. In addition, in high frequencies bands the highest sound pressure issues from partition between engine area and cabin. Noise spectres have sound pressure peaks in bands with centre frequencies. Total noise level perceived by operator in tractor cabin is less during tractor motion on dirt road without aggregate than during its work with seeding machine on field prepared for winter grasp. At that, partition between engine area and cabin contributes greatly. Thus, for integrated noisiness, reducing in the tractor cabin sound isolation of partition between engine area and cabin should be increased and also sound isolation of windshields located closely to exhaust pipe has to be improved. To decrease low-frequency noise optimization of tractor cabin vibration isolation system need to be performed.

Opis:
In this paper problem of noise caused by railway in cities was studied. This aspect was often marginalised in spatial planning process. Using example of areas located in Włochy district (Warsaw, Poland) the function of area and the new permissible sound levels were shown. Analyses based on data obtained from Warsaw acoustic maps generated in the year 2017, spatial management plans and current state of development and investments inside borders of real estate 2-08-10 and 2-08-11. Based on 22 superficial and quantitative features related to 50 and 59 dB limit sound levels at night and 55, 60, 64 and 68 dB at day-evening-night time, changes in the spatial development possibilities in the analysed area were shown. On the base of area indices and using ArcGis software positive and negative aspects of studied area were presented. The analysis clearly showed that the increase in sound levels by 9 dB at night and 8-9 dB during daylight-night-time resulted in the reduction of areas considered to be susceptible to noise before 2012 by 71.9-76.3%, and decrease of the number of buildings exposed to noise by 70-80%. However, the analysis of the local spatial development plans and the Study of Conditions and Directions of Spatial Development showed that the problem of noise is minimized in documents and planning studies. The effect of law changes is possibility of the implementation of housing projects in the near vicinity of the railway area and the approval of the discontinuity of acoustic barriers along the railway tracks.

This work presents the results of the statistical analysis of noise in several points of GAZ-3110 vehicles. There are also the dependences between the loudness of noise and speed of an engine or useful life of a car. It is difficult to confuse the noise of jet engine with reciprocating internal-combustion engine. Random factors also influence much the power level. Mechanism adjustment has its limits and so it can have different influence on its vibration and noise. Finally during the process of operation sliding surfaces do wear, screwed connections do loosen, other things happen and these lead to the changes in spectrum and level of noise. In this work we tried to evaluate the dispersion of GAZ-3110 vehicles noise levels according to the results of a coustic measurements in the immediate field of rondom acoustically active constructive assemblies. The range of noise loudness for the specific car model is defined at the level 20-25 dBA. The GAZ-3110 vehicles are characterized by the significant dispersion of noise level. The differences of noise level of individual cars are exceeding 20-25 dBA. vehicles noise considerably increases with the augmentation of useful life and rpm speed. The noisiest element of GAZ-3110 vehicles is internal combustion engine, then main gear even when first gear is operated.

The minimum attenuations of aircraft noise required by the Polish Standards concerning acoustic insulation and noise levels inside buildings have been compared. Data from the noise monitoring system of the Chopin Airport were used. The minimum attenuation required by PN-B-02151-02:1987 differs from that required by PN-B-02151-3:2015-10. The highest required attenuation occurs when taking into account the maximum sound level LAmax of aircraft noise. The requirements related to LAmax are 2.0 to 7.8 dB higher than those associated with the equivalent sound level LAeq. If the number of flight operations at night reaches the allowed maximum number of forty, the requirements related to LAeq may be decisive. The requirements connected with LAeq according to PN-B-02151-02:1987 are 0.6 to 2.6 dB higher than coming from PN-B-02151-3:2015-10.

Opis:
There are many industrial environments which are exposed to a high-level noise. It is necessary to protect people from the noise. Most of the time, the consumer requires a miniature version of a noise canceller to satisfy the internal working place requirements. Very important thing is to select the most appropriate personal hearing protection device, for example an earplug. It should guarantee high passive noise attenuation and allow for secondary sound generation in case of active control. In many cases the noise is nonstationary. For instance, some of the noisy devices are switched on and off, speed of some rotors or fans changes, etc. To avoid any severe transient acoustic effects due to potential convergence problems of adaptive systems, a fixed-parameter approach to control is appreciated. If the noise were stationary, it would be possible to design an optimal control filter minimising variance of the signal being the effect of the acoustic noise and the secondary sound interference. Because of noise nonstationarity for most applications, the idea of generalised disturbance defined by a frequency window of different types has been developed by the authors and announced in previous publications. The aim of this paper is to apply such an approach to different earplugs and verify its noise reduction properties. Simulation experiments are conducted based on real world measurements performed using the G.R.A.S. artificial head equipped with an artificial mechanical ear, and the noise recorded in a power plant.
