Opis:
Purpose – To identify and characterise the phenomena of globalisation in the food choices of Polish consumers. To identify demographic, economic and social determinants influencing the level of globalization in the dietary choices of Poles, as well as to recognise the most important factors determining consumers’ dietary choices. Research method – Direct surveys among 660 respondents using quantitative methods were used. The collected data was analysed using the factor analysis (the main component method), Cronbach’s alphafactor, structured logit models, Pearson’s χ2 and Cramer’s V coefficients, as well as descriptive statistics and structure indicators. Results – The phenomenon of globalisation is clearly visible in the nutritional choices of Poles. Its impact is manifested primarily in the purchase of fast food in fast food bars and food products in international trade chains; however, it should be noted that this phenomenon concerns primarily the younger generation (under 25), with higher education, and people assessing their income situation as very good. Implications / recommendations – Because of the fashion for healthy, plant-based nutrition, it can be assumed that today’s consumers are looking for a dietary alternative that will allow them to reduce the time it takes to prepare meals and clean up afterwards, while maintaining their health. There may be a growing demand for fast food bars offering healthy food from a proven source. Moreover, due to the increasingly prevalent demands of antiglobalists and the coronavirus crisis, the phenomena of ethnocentrism and deconsumption in consumer behaviour increasingly emerge as trends alternative to globalisation and, as such, they merit further investigation.

The aim of this article is to identify and discuss the most important trends in consumers’ nutritional behaviour that contribute to the formulation of marketing strategies for food companies. The globalization, servicisation, virtualization, ecologisation and rationalization of consumption have been described as selected examples of new trends in consumers’ behaviour. Across the studies covered by this paper it has been found that the creation of new innovative food products and services, the development of regional brands and pro-ecological products which are on line with utility and quality based on safety for health and for the natural environment are some examples of marketing strategies of food companies.

Opis:
The amendment to the Polish Renewable Energy Act creates great opportunities for the development of the biogas market in Poland. Years of experience in biogas production in Western Europe and the development of biogas installations in Poland indicate the requirement to look for alternative substrates to those produced from dedicated crop production (mainly maize silage). Feasible solutions include the use of biodegradable waste from agriculture or industry as well as municipal landfill sites. The usage of these substrates in the methane fermentation process offers low cost, high biogas production and the safe management of biowaste. The arguments for using them in biogas installations are persuasive. This article presents new approaches of biogas plant installation solutions which allows for the effective fermentation of biowaste from animal and vegetable production, from the agro-food industry and from municipal waste.

Due to the increasing costs of urban traffic congestion, new trends of consumer behaviour in passenger transportation may be observed. Among those trends three seem to be particularly significant, i.e. collaborative journeys (as a form of collaborative consumption), carsharing and helping other road users via mobile apps (as a form of consumer citizenship behaviour). The theoretic deliberations about the trends have been supplemented by results of direct quantity research presenting respondents’ opinions about contemporary consumer behaviours.

Opis:
Omnichannel as a concept was introduced to the business practice due to the development of multichannel actions and their integration. This paper aims to identify processes and phenomena occurring in an omnichannel environment in the past years (2020–2022) and their evaluation based on the literature. We used the literature review method, focusing mainly on two professional journals: Total Retail and Multichannel Merchant. Based on the literature studies, we can say that in the analysed period, the major issues discussed were the extension of customer experience and personalisation of contact, development of offered ways of delivery (including the curbside delivery or 'dock and load') and payment methods (including m-payments), the need for more frequent actualisation of POS solutions, changes in the way in which stock and supplier relations are managed, implementation of new technologies (such as headless e-commerce and Progressive Web Application [PWA]), development of contact-less shopping and further development of sustainable commerce.

The main aim of the article is to present and discuss the evolution of L2 education and research expressed in two major paradigm shifts that could be observed over the last century: from the modernist approach, through postmodernism and postmethod, to transmodernity. The article also offers an overview of new approaches and trends in L2 education and research that emerged as a result of those watershed changes, in particular: complexity theory, the ecological approach, transnational identity and translanguaging. The paper ends with a brief discussion on how these changes affected L2 researchers and educators and what implications can be grasped.

Opis:
The continuous drive towards electrified propulsion systems has been imposing ever more demanding performance and cost targets for the future power electronics, machines and drives (PEMDs). This is particularly evident when exploring various technology road mapping documents both for automotive and aerospace industries, e.g. Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) UK, Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) UK, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) USA and others. In that context, a significant improvement of the specific performance and cost measures, e.g. power density increase by a factor of 10 or more and/or cost per power unit reduction by 50% or better, is forecasted for the next 5 to 15 years. However, the existing PEMD solutions are already at their technological limits to some degree. Consequently, meeting the performance and cost step change would require a considerable development effort. This paper is focused on electrical machines and their thermal management, which has been recognised as one of key enabling factors for delivering high specific output solutions. The challenges associated with heat removal in electrical machines are discussed in detail, alongside with new concepts of thermal management systems. Several examples from the available literature are presented. These include manufacturing techniques, new materials and novel integrated designs in application to electrical machines.

Opis:
The paper aims to develop and apply a methodological approach that could help to reveal incentives and future strategies of key National Innovation System (NIS) players considering the influence of global social, economic, scientific, technological and ecological trends. To fulfil this aim, a blended foresight methodology was applied, grounded on the platform of economic and classic foresight theory and considering four possible directions for using foresight methods: investigating and building a common vision; supporting evidence-based decisions; promoting communication and participation; inducing transformation and integration into the decision-making process. The main results and findings of the research include a list of 19 global trends, defined from literature analysis and the author’s expert knowledge, a short description of their influence on key NIS players, including society, business, infrastructure and institutions, science, education and government; and mapping more than 35 different foresight methods that could be used for revealing incentives and future strategies of key NIS players. The article’s theoretical contribution to economic theory consists of several parts. First, a NIS conception is examined through the prism of global trends and a dynamic aspect, whereas it is mostly investigated from statistical and static perspectives. Second, applying foresight as an instrument for researching NIS as a system is a developing academic area with some theoretical gaps, considered in this article by designing a conceptional research framework. Third, blending different foresight methods is always a craft, and the approach applied in this article contributes to it. Finally, the article presents several important trends which will appear in NIS and its key players’ transformation in the nearest 5–10 years. From practical implications, this article could be useful for proactive policymakers in the field of science, technology and innovation policy at national and regional levels for designing and providing measures for supporting innovation systems effectively. Foresight practitioners and experts are offered useful, practical ideas of different foresight methods and their possible combinations for everyday activities.
