Building entrepreneurial companies is associated with taking actions to enable their general development, leading to application of innovative solutions, both in technology and management. Modern economy and pervasive crisis force entrepreneurs to search for alternative means for supporting the progress in order to be able to fight for customers against ‘foreign countries of cheaper production’ and, at the same time, to not being forced to use "drastic" methods of reducing production costs. This paper presents the already existing solutions that are not fully used in Polish reality, which are the network structures (clusters) that have beneficial economic impact and build integrated supply chains. The author is taking a theoretical attempt to connect concept of supply chains and clusters. Consolidation will relieve the individual companies and thereby will create opportunities to take new - common – actions, which together will create entrepreneurial network structure and bring individual benefits.

Opis:
In this paper we consider the formation of directed networks, i.e. networks represented by directed graphs. By information (a rather common use of this term) we mean good information that flows in the network. Each member of the network is endowed with some amount of resources and has also a payoff function, which depends positively on the amount of information he has access to. Knowing the network structure players can gain access to the information possessed by others by creating links. The problem is to specify which network structures can be a strategic equilibrium and whether they are optimal (effective) [3], [2]. Further on we introduced a model in which players do not have a complete knowledge of the network structure, but only a part of it. Decisions they make base on incomplete information. The problem is to define the equilibrium and to find out what strategies can lead to the equilibrium.

Opis:
Based on the payments and settlement system, the influence of the topology of capital flow networks on the extra short-term liquidity demand is investigated. Through modelling the circulating mechanism of liquidity in a network, its different influencing factors are analysed. The factors relating to the strength of nodes and leakage of liquidity that influences the liquidity demands of real-time settlements are studied from the perspective of both the system and members, using different simulation methods. The results show that strength will lead the member’s liquidity demand to increase but the strength distribution will lead the system’s liquidity demand to decrease, in cases with no leakage effect or unchanged leakage effect. The liquidity demand of the entire system is positive compared to the amount of leakage effect but uncorrelated to the distribution of the leakage effect among members, if the effect of strength distribution is unchanged. If the effects of strength, strength distribution and leakage are changed together, the latter is the dominant factor that influences the liquidity demand of both system and members. The above findings are useful for the management and supervision of short-term liquidity demand in complex financial systems, and for liquidity risk management and liquidity rescue policymaking.

Trust and willingness to cooperate depend on the structure of one’s social network and the resources one can access through it. In this study, based on a survey dataset of a representative sample of the Polish population (n = 1000) we create an empirical ‘map’ of four distinct dimensions of social capital: degree (number of social ties), centrality in the social network, bridging social capital (ties with dissimilar others), and bonding social capital (ties with similar others, primarily with kin). We investigate the links between social capital and its key correlates: generalized and particularized trust and willingness to cooperate. We find that centrality (or occupying the position of a network bridge) is positively related to trust, whereas for bonding social capital this relation is negative. We find also a puzzling effect of cooperation without trust in the case of individuals with high bridging social capital resources (ties with dissimilar others).

Opis:
Urban medium voltage (MV) electric power distribution networks are supplied with primary (HV/MV) substations. These networks supply secondary (MV/LV) transformer substations and are often built as closed structures - loop arrangements. The design problem of optimal urban MV distribution network structure consists of determining the number of primary substations, establishing the number of MV loops supplied with the primary substations, and assigning the secondary MV/LV transformer substations to the MV loops. The optimization task becomes especially complex when the number of the primary substations is greater than one. The minimum of total annual costs is sought. The total annual costs include: fixed (investment) costs, variable (operating) costs and supply-interruption costs. Typical constraints are also accounted for. The so defined optimization problem is a complicated mathematical problem in respect of computational effort. In order to resolve the mathematical model of the optimization problem, evolutionary algorithms and artificial neural networks have been used. Exemplary computational experiments have been executed on the model of urban MV multi-loop electric power distribution networks. The results from the evolutionary algorithm and the artificial neural network calculations have been compared.

Opis:
Clusters are an organisational and economic phenomenon. This paper attempts to answer what an energy cluster actually is and whether it meets the requirements of a cluster in the classical approach of economic sciences. The Act of 20 February 2015 on renewable energy sources (Ustawa OZE 2015) introduced the concept of an ‘energy cluster’. It was aimed at, among others, increasing energy security and environmental protection through an efficient use of renewable energy sources. In the literature on the subject, there is no single universally applicable definition of a cluster, it can only be considered in its various aspects. The concept of a cluster has so many applications, associations and meanings that in many respects it has become a ‘chaotic idea’ due to flattening and equalising different types, processes and spatial scales of economic location within one universal concept. However, the main doubt concerns the very definition of a cluster. The paper considers the organisational attributes of clusters, based on the analysis of the following aspects: a) Cluster in historical terms. Overview of cluster and network definitions: i. Overview of cluster definitions ii. Overview of network structure definitions b) Energy cluster. Forms of interorganisational relations and the typology of energy clusters i. Forms of interorganisational relations in an energy cluster ii. Energy cluster against in relation to organisational network typology iii. Energy cluster as a form of company network – common features and differences c) An attempt in characterisation and definition of an energy cluster
Jej celem jest m.in. zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa energetycznego i ochrony środowiska, poprzez efektywne wykorzystanie odnawialnych źródeł energii. Przegląd definicji klastra i sieci: i. Przegląd definicji klastrów ii. Przegląd definicji struktury sieciowej b. Klaster energii. Formy relacji międzyorganizacyjnych oraz jego typologia i. Formy relacji międzyorganizacyjnych w klastrze energii ii. Klaster energii na tle typologii sieci organizacyjnych iii. Klaster energii jako forma sieci firm – cechy wspólne i różnice c. The correlation between the mechanical properties of hydroxyl-terminated polyether (HTPE)/N-butyl-N-(2-nitroxyethyl)nitramine (Bu-NENA) binders with different plasticization ratios (pl/po), varied from 0.9 to 1.5, have been studied. The very early stage of evaporation of Bu-NENA from the HTPE/Bu-NENA binder, with a pl/po ratio of 1.2, has been investigated. The results revealed that the pl/po ratio has strong influences on the mechanical properties. When the pl/po ratio was 1.2, the mechanical properties of the HTPE/Bu-NENA binder were satisfactory, the maximum tensile strength and the elongation at break being 2.39 MPa and 93.27%, respectively. The evaporation rate constant of Bu-NENA from HTPE/Bu-NENA binder with a pl/po ratio of 1.2 increased from 0.31·10–5 to 2.32·10–5 s–1 as the temperature was increased from 50 to 90 °C. The value of the activation energy of evaporation was 51.47 kJ/mol and its pre-exponential factor was 6.14·102 s–1.

Opis:
Purpose: to analyse the variables influencing the construction of a new approach in the strategic management process of an enterprise operating under uncertainty. As a theoretical background for the research, the 'valued' concepts related to business management occurring in the global economy were used, i.e. the concepts of knowledge economy, network organisation, sustainable development, time management and social participation. Design/methodology/approach: it is necessary to use methods in practice for research in management science based on observation of facts and the classification used in the methodology of inductive sciences such as: • observation carried out under natural conditions and interaction with the companies under investigation, • observation-intervention which takes place within the framework of transformation activities in companies, and the researcher has a direct influence on the decisions made in this respect. This implies the need to combine scientific and practical objectives. Findings: The market has forced a move away from the traditional business management approach to task-focused teams, where today's boss may be his subordinate's subordinate tomorrow, because that is better for the objectives of a particular project. These groups will be interdisciplinary, according to the nature of the task, and their participants will gain a pretty good knowledge of what the other partners are up to and will be prepared enough to replace them with dignity in forced situations. This approach offers an opportunity for the company to adapt more quickly to dynamic changes in the environment. Research limitations/implications: The research should address the development of a tool to support the selection of methods and approaches for the strategic management process under uncertainty. Practical implications: The authors have identified only some of the determinants of strategic management under uncertainty, such as the knowledge economy, sustainable development, network structure in the enterprise, time management, soft factors in the management process under uncertainty - emotional intelligence. The research should not only develop new approaches in the process of strategic management, but also identify management methods that should primarily be applied under conditions of uncertainty. Originality/value: In the conditions of pandemics and wars, it is necessary to develop a flexible approach to the process of strategic corporate management. It is also necessary to develop or modify existing management methods for these difficult times of dynamic change in the environment.

Many economic phenomena, including flows of money, can be treated as manifestations of operation of specific networks. In contrast to the popularity of analyses of network structure and dynamics in sociology and physics, economic investigations concerning network approach in general and network properties of money in particular have not been popular until recently. This paper presents the concept of money as a network good and its features (complementarity, standardization, consumption externalities, switching costs, lock-in, dependence on social preferences and expectations and economies of scale in production). It is asserted that network theory of money may shed new light on such processes as monetary integration.

The problem of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) structure optimization is related to the definition of the optimal number of hidden layers and the distribution of neurons between layers depending on a selected optimization criterion and inflicted constrains. Using a hierarchical structure is an accepted default way of defining an ANN structure. The following article presents the resolution of the optimization problem. The function describing the number of subspaces is given, and the minimum number of layers, as well as the distribution of neurons between layers, shall be found. The structure can be described using different methods, mathematical tools, and software or/and technical implementation. The ANN decomposition into hidden and output layers - the first step to build a two-level learning algorithm for cross-forward connections structure - is described, too.
