Opis:
The Radiation Technology Center from IPEN-CNEN/SP, Brazil, developed a revolutionary design and national technology, a small-sized continuous run and multipurpose industrial gamma irradiator, to be used as a demonstration facility for manufacturers and contract service companies, which need economical and logistical in-house irradiation system alternatives. Also, to be useful for supporting the local scientific community on development of products and process using gamma radiation, assisting the traditional and potential users on process validation, training and qualification of operators and radioprotection officers. The developed technology for this facility consists of a continuous tote box transport system, comprising a single concrete vault, where the automated transport system of products inside and outside of the irradiator utilizes a rotating door, integrated with the shielding, avoiding the traditional maze configuration. Covering 76 m2 of floor area, the irradiator design is a product overlap sources and the maximum capacity of cobalt-60 wet sources is 37 PBq. The performed qualification program of this multipurpose irradiator was based on AAMI/ISO 11137 standard, which recommends the inclusion of the following elements: installation and process qualification. The initial load of the multipurpose irradiator was 3.4 PBq with 13 cobalt-60 sources model C-188, supplied by MDS Nordion – Canada. For irradiator dose optimization, the source distribution was done using the software Cadgamma developed by IPEN-CNEN/SP. The polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA) dosimeter system, certified by the International Dose Assurance Service (IDAS) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was used for irradiator dose mapping. The economic analysis, performance concerning with dose uniformity and cobalt-60 utilization efficiency were calculated and compared with other commercial gamma irradiators available on the market.

Opis:
The preliminary design of a multipurpose engineering machine on the wheeled chassis was presented in the paper. The machine meets a series of specific requirements such as: off-road prowess, ability of movement with high speed on hard-surface roads, limited weight and dimensions at the maintaining of great hoisting capacity. These requirements were adjusted to the present character of warfare and that is why the machine construction deviates from classic working machines being used in the civil sector. The meeting of defined requirements required the development of innovative methods. The solution aiming at the increasing the stability of the machine by the application of using a sliding drive unit was described. As a result of that, the increased capacity and efficiency of mined materials were obtained. Additionally, the system of two telescopic arms was applied, so that the efficiency was improved by the shortening of machine working cycles and it is possible to change the length of arms as well as both telescopic arms were placed on the rotating body achieving in such a manner the big workspace for arms. The 3D model of a multipurpose engineering machine and model with rear mounted drive unit and raised and extended arms are presented in the paper.

In the article there was presented a quality assessment of parameters selection of bypass turbine engine for a multipurpose aircraft. It was assumed that the assessment criterion results from the energy-consumption of a flight. The criteria of energy-consumption range were defined as the relation of sum ofenergy supplied to the aircraft on the driven stages to the distance during a mission. The second criterion of unitary energy-consumption is defined as the relation of the movement energy-consumption to the product of the aircraft mass and the route during the elementary stage of the flight. With the use of the already worked out models of the power unit (bypass turbine engine with jet mixer and afterburner) of an aircraft (already known mass and aerodynamic characteristics) there were determined the ranges of thrust which are indispensable for a flight and available for the engine at each stage of the mission: take off, climb, subsonic and supersonic flight and turn with different overload factor. On the example of three chosen aircraft missions (Lo-Lo-Lo, Hi-Lo-Hi and Hi-Hi-Hi) the models of mission energy-consumption were developed. For the accepted change ranges of the comparative cycle parameters of the turbine engine the run of energy-consumption was tested. It was stated that for the assumed data the most energy-consuming mission is Lo-Lo-Lo, wherefore the increase of the compression and the rate of bypass reduces the energy-consumption of the mission.

Opis:
One of the most frequently used methods of adjusting the room acoustics of concert halls is the temporary introduction of additional acoustic absorption in the form of acoustic banners. Banners are implemented in the form of fabric surfaces placed vertically or horizontally along the walls of concert halls. In practice, one or two layers of heavyweight fabrics are used, characterized by a high value of the sound absorption coefficient. Simplified methods of designing acoustic banners assume estimating the effectiveness of adjusting the reverberation time on the basis of the static theory. The paper presents the results of measuring the effectiveness of acoustic banners carried out in the concert hall. The possibility of tuning the interior acoustics was verified depending on the position of the banner in the room as well as the degree of its opening.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to present, by means of case studies, examples of activities in the field of multipurpose development businesses which, due to services offered, their location and recognition, can serve as good practices and provide inspiration for the development of such activities in rural areas of selected EU countries. A key aspect of multipurpose rural development is to shift from single-function development towards farm diversification in order to engage in and develop non-agricultural activities. The concept of multipurpose rural development, where agriculture is no longer the sole function of rural areas, has often become a panacea for maintaining the basic form of agriculture, especially in areas affected by severe fragmentation of agricultural land. The examples found in three countries (Poland, Spain and Romania) showed that agriculture can be combined with non-agricultural activities with environmentally-friendly, innovative and educational concepts. The analyzed cases also showed that entrepreneurship in rural areas is often carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, and the multifunctional nature of these activities indicates that even small farms are able to survive. However, it is important that it is not only agricultural activity, but other activities connected with it, using natural and cultural resources of farms and villages, such as processing or education.
Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie przykładów działalności w zakresie wielofunkcyjnego rozwoju gospodarstw rolnych, które ze względu na oferowaną usługę i miejsce położenia oraz rozpoznawalność, mogą posłużyć jako przykłady dobrych praktyk, a także być inspiracją dla rozwoju tego typu działalności na obszarach wiejskich w krajach UE. Istotnym sposobem rozwoju wielofunkcyjnego wsi jest odejście od monofunkcyjnego rozwoju obszarów wiejskich i przejście do dywersyfikacji gospodarstw rolnych w kierunku podejmowania i rozwijania działalności pozarolniczej. W ramach koncepcji wielofunkcyjnego rozwoju obszarów wiejskich, warunkiem jest odejście od rolnictwa jako jedynej funkcji terenów wiejskich. Oznacza to tworzenie nowych miejsc pracy, w zakresie szeroko rozumianej przedsiębiorczości pozarolniczej, zwłaszcza na obszarach charakteryzujących się dużym rozdrobnieniem agrarnym. Wybrane przykłady z trzech krajów: Polski, Hiszpanii oraz Rumunii, pokazały że można połączyć rolnictwo z działalnościami pozarolniczymi, a także koncepcjami ekologicznymi i innowacyjnymi i edukacyjnymi. Analizowane przypadki pokazały także, że przedsiębiorczość na obszarach wiejskich często jest realizowana zgodnie z zasadami zrównoważonego rozwoju, a wielofunkcyjny charakter tych działalności wskazuje, że nawet niewielkie gospodarstwa rolne są w stanie się utrzymać. Jednak istotny jest fakt, że nie jest to tylko działalność rolnicza, ale połączone z nią inne działalności, wykorzystujące zasoby naturalne i kulturowe gospodarstwa oraz wsi, takie jak przetwórstwo i edukacja.
