Variable applications and methodologies are used in the Digital Twin technology. Digital Twin as a trending technology is also a general topic of many industry-oriented research projects. To develop and implement a novel technology, a detailed study of any single part of a system is required. This paper presents a development case study of the parametric Digital Twin of autonomous electric vehicle transmission. Digital Twin combines the advantages of software models and real equipment to reduce total test runs and safe maintenance. The primary duty of the Digital Twin is to allow complete synchronization and connectivity between virtual and real entities. The paper presents a detailed structural description of the virtual entity that considers the parametrization of the transmission.

This paper investigates the application of a novel Model Predictive Control struc- ture for the drive system with an induction motor. The proposed controller has a cascade-free structure that consists of a vector of electromagnetics (torque, flux) and mechanical (speed) states of the system. The long-horizon version of the MPC is investigated in the paper. In order to reduce the computational complexity of the algorithm, an explicit version is applied. The influence of different factors (length of the control and predictive horizon, values of weights) on the performance of the drive system is investigated. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated by some experimental tests.

Opis:
To achieve high-efficiency and stable brake of a front-and-rear-motor-drive electric vehicle (FRMDEV) with parallel cooperative braking system, a multi-objective optimal model for brake force distribution is created based on radial basis function (RBF). First of all, the key factors, which are the coefficient of brake force distribution between the front and rear shafts, the coefficient of brake force distribution at wheels, the coefficient of regenerative brake force distribution between front and rear axles, that influence the brake stability and energy recovery of the FRMDEV are analyzed, the fitness functions of brake stability and energy recovery are established. Secondly, the maximum allowed regenerative brake torque influenced by the state of charge of battery is confirmed, the correction model of the optimal distribution coefficient of regenerative brake force is created according to motor temperatures. Thirdly, based on HALTON sequence method, a two-factor database, vehicle velocity and brake strength, that characterizes vehicle operation is designed. Then an off-line response database of the optimal brake force distribution is established with the use of particle swarm optimization (PSO). Furthermore, based on hybrid RBF, the function model of the factor database and the response database is established, and the accuracy of the model is analyzed. Specially, the correlation coefficient is 0.995 and the predictive error variance is within the range between 0.000155 and 0.00018. The both indicate that the multi-objective distribution model has high accuracy. Finally, a hardware-in-loop test platform is designed to verify the multi-objective optimal brake force distribution model. Test results show that the real-time performance of the model can meet the demand of engineering application. Meanwhile, it can achieve both the brake stability and energy recovery. In comparison with the original brake force distribution model based on the rule algorithm, the optimized one proposed in this paper is able to improve the energy, recovered into battery, by 14.75%.

This paper proposes two high-order sliding mode algorithms to achieve highperformance control of induction motor drive. In the first approach, the super-twisting algorithm (STA) is used to reduce the chattering effect and to improve control accuracy. The second approach combines the super-twisting algorithm with a quasi-barrier function technique. While the super-twisting algorithm (STA) aims at the chattering reduction, the Barrier super-twisting algorithm (BSTA) aims to eliminate this phenomenon by providing continuous output control signals. The BSTA is designed to prevent the STA gain from being over-estimated by making these gains to decrease and increase according to system’s uncertainties. Stability and finite-time convergence are guaranteed using Lyapunov’s theory. In addition, the two controlled variables, rotor speed, and rotor flux modulus are estimated based on the second-order sliding mode (SOSM) observer. Finally, simulations are carried out to compare the performance and robustness of two control algorithms without adding the equivalent control. Tests are achieved under external load torque, varying reference speed, and parameter variations.

Opis:
This paper reports extensive simulation research into the use of the hexagonal quantizer in current-regulated delta modulators (CRDMs) for AC motor drive applications. It is demonstrated that the hexagonal quantizer with an appropriately selected threshold significantly lowers the current harmonic distortion and dramatically reduces the switching frequency of inverter devices, as compared to the conventional CRDM. Basic information is given on how the simulations were organized and sequenced to ensure fast steady-state convergence, as well as minimize the required data transfers.

To implement speed regulation algorithms of PMSM motor on real object the exact model encompassing imperfections of digital measurement and AC-DC-AC converter is required. The aim of the following paper is to present this kind of simulation model of the neural speed regulation system of PMSM motor in Matlab – Simulink. In the beginning the direct-quadrature transform and mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous motor in dq coordinate system are shown. The paper shows speed measurement algorithm which ensure digital character of the output data. In the second section the neural speed controller trained on-line by backpropagation algorithm and the method for calculating gradient of error function are described. At the end of the paper simulation results validating proper behaviour of neural speed regulation system of PMSM motor are shown.

In this article, model reference adaptive system (MRAS)-based estimator of a rotor resistance of an induction motor (IM) is presented. In contrast to the solutions known from the literature, the reference model of this estimator uses the measured values of the phase current and the adaptive part is a virtual current sensor. The article presents an accurate description of the algorithm taking into account the discrete equations for possible practical implementation in the microprocessor system. In the first step, the impact of motor parameters to stator current estimation quality in the adaptive model was checked. Subsequently, simulation tests of the proposed rotor resistance estimator were carried out for the field-oriented control of the induction motor drive system with a model of an induction motor with fixed parameters and an induction motor with a changing main inductance according to a magnetisation curve. The analysis of the estimator’s work showed its high efficiency and insensitivity to changes in the IM main inductance.

This paper proposes an augmented speed control scheme of dual induction motors fed by a five-leg voltage source inverter (VSI) with a common/shared-leg. An additional control loop is proposed here and based on the mutual flux angle – the difference between flux angular positions of the IMs. The main purpose of this research is to minimize the energy losses in the common inverter leg by controlling the mutual flux angle, at equal angular speeds of both motors. Simulation and experimental studies were carried out and the effectiveness of the proposed control method was proven. The PLECS software package was used for the simulation tests. The laboratory prototypewas prepared for the experimental validation. All results were provided and discussed in this paper.

The in-wheel motor is installed in wheels, and road excitation acts on the in-wheel motor directly through a wheel, which affects the flow field characteristics of the motor’s liquid cooling system, and affects the thermal field characteristics of the in-wheel motor. Aiming at this problem, the in-wheel motor drive system is taken as the research object in this paper. Firstly, the heat flow coupling analysis model of the in-wheel motor drive system is established by using the heat flow coupling theory. Then the vibration response of in-wheel motor stator and shell under different road excitation obtained from the previous study is taken as the load. Finally, thermal field characteristics of the water-cooled the in-wheel motor under different working conditions are studied, and the influence law of different speed and road grades on the thermal field characteristics is obtained. The results show that under the road excitation, the maximum temperature of each component of the in-wheel motor decreases due to the vibration effect of road excitation on the flow field of the cooling system, and the decrease of the stator and winding is the most obvious. Additionally, the higher the speed, the greater the road roughness coefficient, the greater the temperature drop of each component of the in-wheel motor. However, the thermal field distribution of local parts of the motor is relatively uneven under road excitation, which leads to greater thermal stress of the local parts and increases the risk of motor damage.

This paper presents the design and analysis of a polygon connected autotransformer based 36-phase AC-DC converter which supplies direct torque controlled induction motor drives (DTCIMD’s) in order to have better power quality conditions at the point of common coupling. The proposed converter output voltage is accomplished via two paralleled eighteen-pulse AC-DC converters each of them consisting of nine-phase diode bridge rectifier. An autotransformer is designed to supply the rectifier. The design procedure of magnetics is in a way such that makes it suitable for retrofit applications where a six-pulse diode bridge rectifier is being utilized. The proposed structure improves power quality criteria at ac mains and makes them consistent with the IEEE-519 standard requirements for varying loads. Furthermore, near unity power factor is obtained for a wide range of DTCIMD operation. A comparison is made between 6-pulse and proposed converters from view point of power quality indices. Results show that input current total harmonic distortion (THD) is less than 4% for the proposed topology at variable loads. A laboratory prototype of the proposed Polygon-Connected autotransformer-based 36-pulse AC-DC converter is developed and test results are presented to validate the developed design procedure and the simulation models of this AC-DC converter under varying loads.

Design of a delta/polygon-connected autotransformer based 36-pulse ac-dc converter is presented in this paper. Modern induction motor (IM) drives with a higher degree of safety should be equipped with fault-tolerant control (FTC) solutions. Current sensor (CS) failures constitute a serious problem in systems using vector control strategies for IMs because these methods require state variable reconstruction, which is usually based on the IM mathematical model and stator current measurement. This article presents an analysis of the operation of the direct torque control (DTC) for IM drive with stator current reconstruction after CSs damage. These reconstructed currents are used for the stator flux and electromagnetic torque estimation in the DTC with space-vector-modulation (SVM) drive. In this research complete damage to both stator CSs is assumed, and the stator current vector components in the postfault mode are reconstructed based on the DC link voltage of the voltage source inverter (VSI) and angular rotor speed measurements using the so-called virtual current sensor (VCS), based on the IM mathematical model. Numerous simulation and experimental tests results illustrate the behavior of the drive system in different operating conditions. The correctness of the stator current reconstruction is also analyzed taking into account motor parameter uncertainties, especially stator and rotor resistances, which usually are the main parameters that determine the proper operation of the stator flux and torque estimation in the DTC control structure.
